Nasri faces ban after Hull stamp

arsenalbadge1

by CARL ELDRIDGE I reckon he should be knighted but it seems Samir Nasri could cop a three-match ban for violent conduct after stamping on Hull’s Richard Garcia.

That’s the view in this morning’s Sun after Arsenal midfielder’s clash with Garcia sparked a 20-man brawl during the Gunners’ 3-0 Emirates win on Saturday.

Referee Steve Bennett indicated afterwards he booked Nasri for shoving Steve Hunt and that he missed the flashpoint which saw tempers boil over. Bennett will file his report today and the FA will then decide whether to take action, says the paper.

Hull veteran Nick Barmby could also face further punishment, as he raised both hands to Nasri, while Alex Song could pay for getting hold of Hunt by the neck.

That loveable little tosspot Barmby lost the plot in the tunnel at half-time as well, when he attempted to confront Nasri. He ended up having a furious row with a steward who intervened. The Sun claims that Hull boss Phil Brown substituted Barmby at the break to avoid him getting into further trouble. Not because he is shit then?

The Mirror, too, has the tale that Brown subbed Barmby at half-time after he was involved in a tunnel bust-up as the players left the pitch at the end of the first half.

Their version of events claims Barmby went for Nasri and tried to get at him in the tunnel but a steward then pulled Barmby away. But Hull’s players complained afterwards that the steward then reacted and also became embroiled in the scuffle.

But even the Hull players insisted that it was not a serious incident even though there was bad blood between the clubs following the bad tempered FA Cup tie last March. Cesc Fabregas was accused of spitting at Hull No.2 Brian Horton in March and Horton left the directors’ box where he was sitting on Saturday to be in the tunnel at half time for the flare-up, claims the Mirror.

Elsewhere in this morning’s papers squeezed next to City axing mark Hughes and Fat Frank having to take three pens at West Ham we learn that Tottenham hope to snatch Marouane Chamakh on a Bosman free.

The Daily Mail claims the Algeria striker is out of contract at Bordeaux come the end of the season and Spurs officials are already believed to been in contact with his representatives.

The 25-year-old was desperate to leave the French champions in the summer for a move to England, but Bordeaux rejected all bids for their hit man, getting into a row with Arsene Wenger along the way for a public pursuit by the Gunners manager.

AW has since considered reviving their interest in January amid injuries to Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner, but the Ligue 1 side would prefer to lose him for nothing in the summer rather than jeopardise their domestic and Champions League campaign.

Back to the Sun and it is Everton who they claim are our rivals to sign Chamakh. Toffees boss David Moyes sent scouts to watch the marksman play against Lorient on Saturday and both he and AW would dearly love to sign him in next month’s transfer window, says the paper.

But it looks as though they will have to wait after the £7million star vowed to see out the remaining six months of his contract before leaving on a free transfer. He said: “I am certain to finish the season with Bordeaux. I will be free at the end of the season but I don’t want to see my name bandied around in January.” Juventus have also been keeping tabs on Chamakh.

Having read your views on the confrontations of the match between Hull City and Arsenal. Nasri needs to be punished for his stamp and I do not blame Barmby for having a go. If it was the other way round and Garcia had stamped on Nasri then Garcia should be punished the same way. Barmby is not a tosspot as you say or shit at someting, but I would give that title to Fabrigas for his spitting incident last time they met. He knows he did it but is too shameface to admit it. Sometimes he behaves like a spoilt brat, maybe a good taking to on the pitch at halftime might be the answer, then again he might spit his dummy out. You did not have much joy at Turf Moor at the last game. Anyway up the Clarets and Hull City. Arsenal might have the money but Burnley and Hull City have more passion! Frank is not fat, as much as I dislike Chelsea as you obviously do, he is at least English. And finally, Man Utd for the title and Piers Morgan off my Xmas card list!

Stephen Hunt is a gypsy. He came to the ground in his caravan and parked it in Finsbury Park. He is a typical Hull City player. No talent and just a very bad player. he was at the heart of all the problems at the weekend.

As for Garcia, he was barely touched and decided to ‘do a Drogba’. He should be banned for being a cock.

As for Nick Barmby, he is just a fat talentless old man.

I really think some write up on this blog should actually be ignored because they lack the incredients and credibility of a true gunner. Just imagine that jobless and idle freak saying Nasril should be banned! That is absolute scrap! The stupid Garcia was hullucinating, thus believing he was in hollywood! He must have seen too many movies of late. Wake up young man, this is the EPL, get your brain cells working again!

Rick, you’re a hypocrite and an ignorant moron. Cesc never spat at anyone, Horton and your manager LIED (just like they LIED about Wenger “never” shaking Brown’s hand), Garcia flopped down like a rag as if he’d been knocked down by a mac truck and Hunt should be red carded for shoving Nasri in the face with his hands. Twit.

I’Ve watched the Nasri incident half a dozen times and am convinced that it was not a stamp he merely stepped on Garcia’s toes whereupon the player went down as though poleaxed.

Yes Nasri was correctly booked and so was Hunt but Barmy Barmby should have been dismissed for putting his hands in Nasri’s face.

I was pleased to see that the Arsenal players were willing to dish out a bit of stick, they have been on the receiving end for far too long. Maybe now some of the cloggers in the Premiership will think twice about kicking lumps out of them in the future.

Such a shame Arsenal fans always have to cry when their precious team is jolted from it’s comfort zone. They’re so nice to watch otherwise.

Can’t you just enjoy your win and superior status in the league, or does the burden of imminent hostile takeover approaches worry you? Does the slipping of the National Institution crown irk? You should know by now, you have enough enemies in the game without falling out with anyone else. Please try to stop being so bitter and small.

Oh, and the comment at the top of this piece that began “I reckon he should be knighted but it seems Samir Nasri could cop a three-match ban for violent conduct after stamping on Hull’s Richard Garcia.” Presumably a Sir Martin Taylor’s being called for down Arsenalinsider way? Or perhaps you’re just poor sports who can’t accept that your admittedly beautiful football can – not infrequently – mask a darker, more sinister side itself.

Merry Christmas to all sporting Arsenal fans. For the rest, perhaps you’ll adopt a less embarrassing stance in 2010.

Ryan we are enjoying our win and superiority ( when compared to the likes of Hull Ha Ha)and it’s pure jealousy from the sub standard teams and their followers such as yours that make us so enviable and pleeeease don’t compare that little tap from Nasri to that assault on Eddy by that moron Taylor, but like you I doubt he has a brain so feck off to your dreary hovel, lowlife!!

I actually like you, Berg10. I find you quite endearing (although, incidentally, at what point did I declare myself a Hull City fan?).

And, for the record, my comparison of the “little tap” from Nasri to the challenge on “Eddy” from Taylor wasn’t to highlight similarities in severity, but to compare the differences in attitude between the first sentence of the above article and what we might have been given to expect, where the boot (so to speak) on the other foot.

I’m very sorry I infiltrated a comments board so unable to listen to reasoned argument, incidentally. It wasn’t my intention.

Good luck with that whole Kroenke/Usmanov thing, anyway. I hope neither of them fuck you up like Hull City were fucked up 10 years ago, long before you took the time to bother yourself about them.

Lol. so glad to have touched your emotions, it doesn’t matter what team you support as it’s obviously not AFC.

Big big difference in Nasri’s tap compared to Taylor’s assault, at no time did Nasri exert enough force to suggest intent, there was a huge degree of control unlike the other “tackle” in question. Taylor had the single intention of stopping Eddy no matter what and nothing will ever convince me otherwise. Nasri’s crime was retaliation but that’s human nature.

As for your apology for “infiltrating a comments board so unable to listen to reasoned argument”, bolox! Read your post, it’s a full on attack from start to finish.

Such a shame your embarrassment of the team you support deprives us of the obvious comparisons, F*ck me, they must be whiter than white!!

Good grief Berg10 – you’ve contradicted yourself so much there I barely know where to start. You defend Nasri by suggesting there wasn’t enough force to suggest intent then state there was a “huge degree of control”, then admit it was an act of retaliation, both of which, well, require intent. Also, I wasn’t aware intent was measured by by degrees of force. Perhaps I’m wrong.

In any case, at the risk of repeating myself, I didn’t compare the Nasri incident with the Taylor one to highlight similarities in severity – I’m not disputing Taylor’s caused more damage and was more dangerous, regardless of intent or otherwise. I did it but to compare the differences in attitude between the first sentence of the article and what we might have been given to expect had an Arsenal player been on the receiving end. If that’s too difficult for you to understand, then I’m afraid I’m at a loss to make it any clearer.

Still, whatever, I can’t spend all day trying to get you to see reason and perspective – life’s too short, and it’s not like I actually care about you.

You go on kidding yourself your beloved Arsenal are the whiter than white ones, while I keep living in the real world, and hopefully our paths will never cross again.
