African Cup Of Nations Watch

alexsong

Cameroon 1-3 Egypt – aet (Benguela)

Monday, Jan 25

Alex Song will be flying back to London alongside team-mate Emmanuel Eboue, after Egypt overcame the Lions in the quater-finals of the African Nations Cup

Bad goalkeeping was the maker and the decider of this game. After Geremi’s corner had been helped in at the near post by Egyptian defender Ahmed Hassan, the Pharos began their come-back. Hassan made amends with a dubious goal from 35 yards and in extra time scored from further out, although the ball had never crossed the line. Before that a sloppy backpass from Geremi allowed in Mohamed Gedo to send Egypt on their way.

They move into the semi-final stage where Ivory Coast’s victors Algeria await.

hopefully. but even without him i think we can still beat the mancs at the emirates. they look average at best this season. all we need is rooney to suffer an unfortunate (but temporary – i’m not that evil) bout of food poisoning… :-*
