Wenger to snap up Messi: The Henry Norris Hour

henrynorrisbanner
Hic! Henry Norris is the rather squiffy football correspondent of the Bugle newspaper and an ardent Arsenal supporter to boot. Each week he’ll join us here at arsenalinsider.com to bring you his forthright views on all things AFC…please be advised, he hits the bottle early!

Messi business

If I had a hat, I’d take it off. The gesture would be for the electric display from Lionel Messi for Barcelona in the Nou Camp the other night when he single-handedly ended the Royal Arsenal’s Champions League dream. I wonder if Arsene Wenger, a manager for whom I have the utmost respect, should try to sign this little Argentinian player.

Of course, I reaaise that it might take a few quid from the coffers but let’s no forget we are the Bank of England club, or that certainly used to be the case, and I am sure we can persuade these Spanish chaps to let go of their best player…we could even offer a player or two in a swap deal. I’m convinced Mr Wenger could pull this deal off and I would urge him to throw in Mikel Silvestre and perhaps Sol Campbell as make-weights for the move. Messi in a Royal Arsenal shirt…now that would put bums on deats for next season.

Dart through the heart

Andy The Viking Fordham emails me to complain about the price of his ticket for the Barca game in the Nou Camp. Apparently fans of the Royal Arsenal were charged more than £70 to see the game and when Andy, who remember is the darts professional who lost 33 stone, got into his seat he realised that he was 2.4 miles from the pitch, such is the size of the stadium.

He also tells me that the Catalan poilce were rather too quick to pull their batons as Gunners supporters became impatient at being kept in the ground on the game’s conclusion. Shame on them Barca may well be the vanguard of European football, but as a club, they appear to me to be very third division. And yes, this is very much a case of sour grapes.

Plain sailing with Anfield ’89 heroes

Of course, we have no fixture this saturday coming and instead of watching my beloved Royal Arsenal in action I have been persuaded by my rather busty secretary Senga to go sailing of the coast of Bognor Regis, West Sussex. All fine and dandy, you might think. All rather pleasant and above board, is perhaps another thought they might enter your bonce. Well, there is an added bonus to this particular sailing trip. Senga has managed to arrange for the majority of the lads who won the league on Merseyside that famous night in May 1989 with a 2-0 triumph to come along. The fizz has been ordered and the pickled onions — a particular favourite of Kevin Richardson’s, I am told — are on board. I’ll report back as there are sure to be tales to be told of our adventures on the English channel. Pip. pip and up the Royal Arsenal!

    Henry old boy,

You’re like a breath of fresh air, well really like a blast of last nights stale beer actually, in today’s world of drab journos your turn of phrase is both amusing and enlightening. The fact that you continue to spout the most ridiculous garbage is entirely beside the point.

Going to sea with a woman aboard has always been a no no for the superstitious, however, should the vessel capsize I’m sure that there will be enough of the fragrant Segna’s ample bosom to cling to untill you are rescued.

Don’t fall for the old “golden rivet” trick.

Chin chin and bottoms up, if that’s possible, Henry old fruit.

so we lose to barca at nou camp without robin van persie, cesc fabregas, aaron ramsey, william gallas, andre arshavin keiron gibbs or song available for selection.
7 players 5 of which are of the starting 11. 2 of which are strong cover. 1 of which is the closest to cesc and his midfield creativity that we have.

And one guy runs away with the game. note. 3 of his ramblings were the classic breakaway when a team is pushing forward because defending is not really an option making the opportunity when you gotta score goals. a perfect situation for messi to perform his magic. Song was truly missed on the day for what his contribution could have been to that situation.

And if we had to lose I would rather lose as we did rather than be manure and how they completely bottled to bayern!!!

Their youngest player bottled and then the rest of the team bottled and then their manager bottled after the game. the foul was so blatant it deserved a yellow card. but it was his first card that created the sending off not the second! I would rather us lose playing with some discipline to barca than to have such stupidity in our side. to give a way a yellow card at 3 nil up!

I would rather Wenger be honest about performances on the night than have a manager who lies to the press, the world about his star striker and then plays the nobbled git when he just said he would not take a chance on him.

I would rather be the honorable arsenal who are getting better and better than the faded and fading manure who seemed to have completely lost the plot.

imagine if manure had lost rooney when rvp when down and how they would have coped? not sure they would be fighting for the title.

so being honest. we probably wont win the league this year either. we will either blip in one of the last 2 significant matches we have left or another side will finish the runout with wins as champions must do.

and so looking forward it is obvious, god bless im but it is time for eduardo to go, rosicky to become back up and only a bit player, for us to find a centerback to play with Tommy V and allow gallas to be backup. bring in a keeper and keep almunia as backup only. (no one can take away from him that first half v barca tho that was as good as we have ever seen him) .

chamauck (sp) and rvp both potentially up front .

theo on notice he must prove himself over a full season and throughout an entire game or be made surplus.

and song did well but that role requires a backup. can we still get melo from juventus?

arshavin better find a couple new tricks because most the premiership has figured that guy out.

the whole squad must get technically quicker and learn to defend better. there is no excuse for not putting high pressure on the ball when you play a 4-3-3 without it the team is screwed so the 3 upfront need to learn to defend together or find that talent that will do
