White Hart Lane – Tin Hats On!

ArsenalvTottenhamHotspurPremierLeaguexxJjmobuU-fl

Chelsea’s narrow 1-0 win at home to Bolton Wanderers last night put a little dampener on things. From all reports the Trotters had a tacked on penalty denied. Chelsea next face Spurs at the Lane this coming weekend, hopefully after we’ve wiped the floor with them tonight. They then have Stoke City at home, Liverpool away and finish with Wigan Athletic at home.

We can’t worry about them though. Only ourselves. We need to win each game as it comes around. It seems like was still watching black and white telly in another century the last time Spurs managed to beat us in the League. In fact it was (well, another century that is).Over ten years ago in November 1999 at the Lane. We’re unbeaten by the forces of navy and white darkness in twenty League games. I’m still suffering flashbacks from their last win over as at the Lane in January 2008 in the Carling Cup semi-final second leg. That night was HORRIBLE! The 4-4 League draw at the Grove still gives me the shudders. It’s not just the League title we’re worried about tonight. It’s the collective sanity of the entire Gooner Nation.

And just to cheer up the navy and white faithful let’s give them a nice song. PLAY UP POMPEY! POMPEY PLAY UP! I know we’ll get a Catalan serenade back. At least we got stuffed by the world’s best team. Portsmouth struggles to pay the electricity bill and the milkman, never mind its players.

Boys, nothing else matters tonight. Nothing. The Gooner Nation expects every man to do his duty. Game on!

Keep the faith!

Sol will take a lot of stick tonight but he won’t be phased by it, in fact I’d make him captain given his leadership qualities, Almunia seems like a nice bloke but leadership is not his forte and anyway I prefer a mobile skipper that can get in the faces of slackers.

    Berg 10,

Surely there will be no slackers on view tonight but I agree we should make Sol captain for this match, it would certainly wind up the opposition.

Three points tonight to keep the pressure on is all we an ask.

Another fraught night in this usually happy household, My Spurs supporting wife at one end of the sofa me at the other only a bottle of wine between us. Still we’ve managed forty four years of North London derbies without coming to blows so hopefully this will pass peacefully as well. No doubt one of us will retire to bed somewhat grumpy though.

    John

I’m sure you’re right regarding slackers but after reading earlier that Gael Clichy hopes the spuds finish 4th I wondered if maybe some of the foreign lads haven’t quite got the same aggression towards them as say Martin Keown and co. had, however this isn’t to say they will not give blood for the cause, literally.

Hopefully Mrs Norfolk will be an unhappy spud tonight JIN.

JIN glad to hear your mixed marrage has lasted so long  I think the reason is because over the years YOU have had more to cheer about. I still remember Bradys goal at there place & how thay nearly slung me over the shelf.
    GOOD TIMES :-)

I quite go with the notion that Sol shud be the captain tonite but that will probably fire up the Scum nation! With no Song to break up the attackers and midfielders from Scum we’ll have a problemo. Just Sol playing is enough.

What a difference RVP made in 30 minutes and AW must keep Campbell. A rock.

Rosicky/ Silvestre should ashamed of their performance. Hats off to Van Persie and Campbell, great stuff from them.

Yeah, the Sol man was incredible and solid. In comparison Sylvestre was too geriatic, Sagna played Bale on side for the second goal and Clichy who ought to defend went forward. Gomez has been massive for Scum over some time now while we have awful goalkeeper.

    are you sure mate?

we need to look at the front line…proven striker required £35m need to be spent.

the difference is the keepers.. yet again Almunia doesnt react quickly enough.

Honestly chaps, if you see the game again and you will be furious with rosicky, one he lost the ball so many times, and 2, when he didnt lose it he passed it into such a tight impossible position for the player receiving it that they lost it. Disaster. I know people dont like too hear bad things about him, but he was terrible. Having said that, as a team we were terrible.

    Thats just my opinion anyways.
