Cesc’s dad denies Real link

fabregasjpg

Cesc Fabregas’s father has denied he had a meeting with Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano at the weekend after reports linked the Spain international with a move to the Bernabeu.

There has been speculation Francesc Fabregas snr attended Real’s game with Valencia at the Bernabeu after television pictures claimed to show the Arsenal midfielder’s father in a private box.

However, he categorically denied being there or having had talks with Valdano.

Fabregas snr said: “I was not at the Bernabeu. Meeting with Valdano? It is totally false.

“On Monday morning I have been with my daughter walking around Barcelona, this is the only truth.”

Speculation surrounding Fabregas is commonplace with the Spain international most often linked with a return to Barcelona although reports claimed last week Real would be his destination this summer.

despite everyone who has any influence (cesc, his dad and agent, arsene, hill-wood, gazidis) saying that he won’t be leaving, the Sport and Marca driven circus must go on.

Its getting annoying. Maybe Usmanov or kroenke with all the media companies they own should start a “Messi and Xavi to arsenal” campaign. to make it more realistic we can offer them silvestre and almunia.

Any reader who thinks there’s the slightest chance Cesc would be interested in Real Madrid is a moron.

Any reader who thinks there’s the slightest chance Cesc could leave this summer for Barca is also a moron.

Any author of yet another article suggesting or denying anything to do with Cesc staying or leaving should be ashamed of himself for taking advantage of morons.

    Vijay I agree.

I preferred the article recently with Alex Song stating Cesc has told him he’s staying, much more credible, though not so lucrative or stimulating for the two bit hacks that peddle misery for the Gooner nation.

I think the articles have been lost in translation:

What I believe they are saying is:

We at the Spanish Press do not have anything to write that is of any interest. Therefore, we are making up another story about Fabregas, as we know it sells newspapers. We are now beginning to run out of stories that we can run. We have used the following storylines so far:

‘Barca player says Cesc has club in his DNA’ Possibly true as he grew up there. (Rooney grew up at Everton)

‘Cesc fed up not winning trophies and wants to go home’(He is 22. He has plenty of time to win trophies)

‘Cesc’s dad spotted in Spain!!’ (Surprise Surprise, he lives there).

‘Cesc quoted as saying, I am from Barcelona’. (He was doing an impression of Manuel from Fawlty Towers)

Basically, it is all complete bullsh*t. Believe it if you will, but I don’t.

It wasn’t a slag from Barca. Cesc was buying a rug from a tramp. It just looked lke the slag from Barca.

This is a bit off subject but I think is worth some thought.

Official news and comment from Arsenal FC is usually lacking in actual news and rarely offers any comment.

The Manager’s weekly newsletter is an anodyne pastiche that could have been gleaned from the usual tabloid speculation.

Would it not be refreshing to receive a frank end of term report from our ever more reclusive Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis.

A candid look back at the season with an honest appraisal of the pluses and minuses alongside the realistic ambitions for the coming campaign.

Obviously neither specific transfer targets or budgets could be revealed but some indication as to which positions are to be strengthened would be welcomed.

The club can no longer rely on a short meeting with a few shareholding supporters at which the manager loses his rag when reference is made to a geriatric defender.

I for one would like to hear from the board what their views are about the current ownership issues between Kroenke and Usmanov.

Anybody out there think this might be a good idea?

I’m in favour of any form of increased open-ness (is that a word?) and honesty from the club. So yes its a good idea.

I think the issue with an appraisal of positions to be strengthened, is regardless of talking money, you are alerting other clubs to the positions you consider to be weak. This would therefore give clubs the ability to up their prices as you are revealing your hand.

Commenting on the ownership issues, would be idle speculation as who says Kroenke or Usmanov want to buy the club outright? Until a bid is made either way, the rest is speculation and becomes irrelevant.

The big point you make which I totally agree with is an appraisal of the season. Where have we fallen down against our targets. Are we going to strengthen next season (as referenced previously, this would need to be a more general comment). And also, finally some transparency around the Club’s financial situation. (if this is possible).

The fact I have had to add in caveats shows me how difficult it is to be anything other than generic in their comments. Being too specific on any of the issues could be damaging in some way or other.

Maybe I now see why we do just get bland news :-)
