Curious case of ex-Gunner and the stolen kit

national_newspapers_montage
by CARL ELDRIDGE Heard the tale about a former Arsenal player doing a bunk with a load of match balls and training kit? Legally we can’t name this alleged miscreant, who still plays in the Premier League, but apparently there is CCTV footage of the player helping himself to the gear at some point last season. That is what I am told anyway.

And don’t think that me mentioning this the day after former Gunners Paddy Vieira, Kolo Toure and that other lanky streak of piss returned to the Emirates is in anyway connected to the story. Guessed yet?

Moving on to the papers and a certain Togolese tosspot was castigated from the stand when he came on in the 0-0 draw with City and the Times records that Vieira and Toure were granted the “warm welcomes” requested by the stadium announcer, but it was a different story when Emmanuel Adebayor’s name came last on the list of substitutes. He was booed into, through, and out of City’s warm-up. Vieira’s name was sung before kick-off, Adebayor’s included in a chant Arsenal fans used to denounce, says the paper.
As for the game, the Mirror’s report summed things up really. It reads: “After the capitulation, the frustration. For all their attacking momentum, for all their positive intent, Arsenal failed to erase the indignation of the surrender at Wigan with a morale-boosting win against a Manchester City outfit that defended with purpose but attacked only when the occasion allowed.

Arsenal dominated possession but that statistic was all they had to show for 90 minutes of sweat in the Spring sunshine of North London. And even when a 23-year-old goalkeeper who is ranked only number two in the Faeroe Islands was called into the fray, they could still not breach City’s massed ranks. Gunnar – of all names – Nielsen came on after Shay Given appeared to suffer a serious shoulder injury while keeping out a long range shot from Abou Diaby.”

Meanwhile the the Mail reports that Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith is poised to sell her 15.9 per cent stake in Arsenal – worth an estimated £90 million – to an eastern European in what could have huge ramifications for the club.  The paper says that having been expelled from the board and effectively sidelined by the club, Lady Bracewell-Smith has been unable to sell her stake, the fourth largest in the club, to either of the two likely bidders, Stan Kroneke or Alisher Usmanov.

But since appointing Blackstone to market her stake earlier this month, Lady Bracewell-Smith appears to be close to agreeing a sale, insists the Mail. It also say that insiders suggest the buyer will be on a par with the likes of Kroenke, who is worth an estimated £2billion, and Usmanov, whose wealth is more than double that.

Elsewhere in this morning’s tabloids, the News of the Screws says Fran Merida will quit Arsenal in the summer and move to Atletico Madrid. The red top says Merida, 20, who was dubbed the new Cesc Fabregas, has only made four Premier League appearances this season and is desperate to get his career back on track.

Reports in Spain say he has already agreed a five-year deal with Atletico and will announce his move at the end of the season. Arsene Wenger was keen to keep Merida at the Emirates, but the Barcelona-born midfielder will be out of contract. And despite speculation over Fabregas’ long-term future, Merida is not prepared to wait any longer for his chance at Arsenal, says the paper.

The game yesterday was more like a tennis game…the fans barely made any noise till that tall cash whore adebayor showed up..but till then there were nothing…I sensed the team didn’t feel like attacking..maybe they were disappointed from the loss at wigan..not sure..but..the game was oddly…silent…

Not sure about a massive improvement although only Chelsea and us can finish with more points than last season out of the so called top 4.

Yes he will. If he goes to Sevilla or Valencia maybe not but to Atleti wich fans always asks for the head of their players and manager when things are not working its disgusting. Stupid fans who still thinks that theyre the 3rd best team of Spain.
