EXCLUSIVE: Henry, Stepanovs and Raphael Meade back at Arsenal for awards night

crestatnightlarge
By CARL ELDRIDGE The great and the good from Planet Gooner descended on the Dorchester Hotel in London last night for the inaugural arsenalinsider.com awards bash and what do it was.

I don’t want to give too much away but the likes of Thierry Henry, Igor Stepanovs and Raphael Meade were in attendance along with a whole host of other Arsenal legends. Except, Graham Stack, he couldn’t make it unfortunately after the former Arsenal reserve keeper was left partially sighted in his left eye when he was caught in the face by Hibernian team-mate Abdessalam Benjelloun. He is expected to recover fully…get well soon.

The awards night was a huge success and you can hear coverage of the star-studded event on the fifth edition of our very own podcast. Also on the show is FTK and his take on the race for for fourth spot and you may be a little surprised to learn just who he wants to ban that final Champions League place.

We also take a look at the Premier League clash with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Bank Holiday Monday and we even attempt some satire to try to brighten this gloomy time of the year when the realisation that we haven’t won anything again kicks in. Anyway, winning, like scoring is vulgar.

It’s fair to say we took a lot of flack last week with the podcast and that’s fine, we welcome criticism as we strive to bring you the a bigger and better podcast each week.

In other Arsenal news today we learn that Andrey Arshavin’s agent says he might not be at the Arsenal; next season, a story we broke on this site and one which attracted a lot of stick it has to be said. Time will tell. Sol Campbell says he will talk to AW about a new deal but unless he walks off at half-time at Blackburn on Monday or at home to Fulham the week after I think we can safely say he’ll get another year-long contract.

Glad to hear that Celtic, AC Milan and Lyon will come to the Emirates at the start of next season for the Emirates Cup…at least that appears to be a trophy we can win. Come on you rip-roaring Reds. You can download our

Could the fact that Lyon have been invited to participate in The Emirates Cup have anything to do with sweetening the deal for their goalkeeper’s transfer to The Gunners.

Mind you he may have back-ache after spending yesterday evening picking the ball out of his net.

The revolving door at the City of Manchester Stadium looks set to work overtime with the mooted departures of Adebayor, Wright-Phillips, Tevez, Bridge and Ireland. Not to mention manager Mancini.

With Luca Toni and Fernando Torres just two of the summer targets.

What a happy ship they are running at the richest club in the world. All those overpaid, egotistical “stars” fighting to get their snouts in the trough before their Middle Eastern owners lose patience and go back to sucking oil out of the desert.
