William Gallas has been shunned by five of his Arsenal team-mates, according to Samir Nasri.Gunners midfielder Nasri claims he has not spoken to the France defender since they had a dispute in training.
Gallas was critical of Nasri in his autobiography for refusing to give his seat to Thierry Henry on the French team bus during Euro 2008 – a tournament that saw France fail to win a game.
In an interview with French TV, Nasri said the alleged rift with Gallas did not have an adverse effect on Arsenal’s trophyless season.
“I don’t communicate with him, but I’m not the only one at Arsenal who doesn’t have any communication with him. We are four or five, but that doesn’t stop us fighting for each other on the pitch,” said Nasri.
“You don’t get 11 friends in a football team, there are people who have affinities and who get on, but on the pitch we fight for the same cause.”
Gallas has failed to agree a new contract with Arsenal, but can put himself in the shop window with a solid performance at the World Cup finals.
Nasri, 22, failed to make Raymond Domenech’s provisional squad for the tournament and is seeking an explanation.
“It’s difficult, but there are the choices of coach,” he said. “I respect them, but I also want to know why, because I hear reproach for my behaviour now. I respect the decision of the coach.”
