Fabregas breaks his silence and finally our hearts…

fabregas03092008

So Cesc Fabregas is focusing on the World Cup only and leaving his future in the hands of Arsene Wenger. This confirms what we have all dreaded. Fabregas will leave Arsenal for Barcelona, price to be agreed and as soon as Arsene has found a replacement.

Not the case you argue?

Well Fabregas could have said…

“I met with Arsene Wenger and he made me aware that I am very vital to the success of Arsenal and that the new transfer targets would make winning the Premiership a lot easier”

He didn’t, but he might have said this…

“Arsene Wenger has told me that I am not for sale under any circumstances and that I will play out my contract as Arsenal Captain.”

Nope, not that either, what about this?

“Arsenal Football Club have made it clear that they want me to stay and be part of a winning team, they have given me their vision for the future and I am very excited by this.”

Not a hope in hell, in fact he said the following:

“I talked with Arsene. It was probably the greatest conversation I have had with someone in my life.

“I respect him so much.

“I don’t want to say too much about this.

“He told me to concentrate on my football, he told me to concentrate on the World Cup, he told me to leave it in his hands and he will deal with whatever happens in my future.

“And that’s what I’m doing, just concentrating on football. It’s not up to me anymore.

“It’s just now about Arsenal and whoever it has to be, and that’s it. I don’t want to say anything else.

“I just want to be focused for the World Cup because it’s the most important thing. The rest, the future, I’m not interested in the future.”

Cheers Fabs, pity you didn’t respect the thousands of supporters who paid your wages over the years that you made your reputation at Arsenal. Perhaps you should have revealed the truth about the situation at Arsenal, about the lack of desire to invest heavily in the future. Arsenal remain a club financially secure, but the cost is that everyone thinks that they can beat us now and no decent big name star would even look at us. Behold the mighty fallen…

I wish you luck for the future and I know that you will be surrounded by the kind of talent at Barcelona that Arsenal fans can only dream of. Barcelona have shown that they have ambition. Will Arsene Wenger win the Premier League next season without Fabregas? He obviously thinks so, so lets wait and see who he has lined up as a replacement.

Whilst I hold my breath to see which sub 20 million pound transfer is going to be hailed as the successor to Fabregas, I wonder what I should change my name to?

Rocky the King is my favourite, but I have had many suggestions perhaps you have a good one too, but I think that I might just keep FTK and not expand the Fabregas, for I cannot blame him for leaving after not having been surrounded by equally talented players at a time when he could have delivered trophies to our club. I still cherish the first time that I met the young Spaniard at Highbury and still have his autographed replica shirt. He will be always be an Arsenal legend for me!

I feel the same, This seems to happen to us nearly every year. i will be very very disappointed if this comes true

Viera Henry and now Fabregas, is RVP next ???

it just shows that the vast majority of players are there for the money and what they can get out of the Club

What we have replaced these players with has been sub standard except for a limited few

A lot of our squad players have not stepped up to the mark, They get paid way too much and are allowed to get away with it, e.g Diaby Denilson way too much money for little or no return

I am now starting to worry for the future of the club I have supported since I was a boy

I hope AW stands strong against Barca this time but I wont be holding my breathe

Confirms what we all knew really but does again highlight the dangerous fact that these players are not playing for Arsenal Football Club, they are playing for Arsene FC.

Fabregas’s ‘loyalty’ is to Wenger, not the club that recently increase his salary to £110K per week.

Arsene Wenger has made a public error yet again by stating that he will conclude all of his dealings by June 11th. Every football agent out there will be sitting on their hands until June 10th ready to issue a take or leave deal for the player that Arsene wants.
As the seasons have gone on the magic hat worn by our great manager has slipped to be now just be holding on at a very rakish angle, before it finally falls off…

true fab never said that we wants to stay, but he never said he wants to go.

im not saying he will stay i just don’t know any more! but he said it’s in wengers hands, meaning ball in arsenal court, we do not have to sell so we can demand high price and wenger has while to get a replacement (if he is getting one)

if he stays good we still have a quality player, and cesc isn’t the type to refuse 2 play if he stays.

and if he goes then this is what we knew would happen at some point, we may struggle for a bit with no current direct replacement, but we do have ramsey and wilshere who always were the long term future of arsenal not cesc.

also if he goes then the team can be based around rvp, chamakh and arshavin meaning more direct play and less pass pass pass pass!

    I am with CGunner!

I don’t know how you have come to the conclusions you express, based on what Cesc said.

I thought this was the most positive thing I have heard on this since it all kicked off.

Cesc could have said “Barca is my home-town club and the one I have supported since a young boy.” He could have said “I have to leave now, while I have the chance to win some trophies.” He could have simply said that he wishes to leave and hopes that Arsenal will not stand in his way.

But he didn’t say any of those things. He talked about how much he respects Arsene Wenger.

So, how the fuck do you come to the conclusion that this confirms that he is off!!

Maybe he has told Wenger that he thinks we need some more experienced players and Wenger has said, wait until after the World Cup and you will see that we have recruited them!

Who knows? Let’s not make up reasons for being miserable though!

Fabregas has loyalty only to himself, if he was loyal to Wenger he would stay at Arsenal.

The club have between now and the start of the new season to demonstrate to their fans that they have ambitions beyond being a model of fiscal rectitude.

Unfortunately we seem to have a board of directors who are mesmerised by Wenger and blind to the frustrations of their very loyal fan base.

It is obvious, from outside the club, that Wenger’s project has run it’s course, he is unable to retain our best player and his youth policy is not likely to produce a replacement.

The club must buy and buy big, if this stalls the progress of some up and coming youngsters then so be it.

If Wenger does not agree then he is free to walk off into the sunset.

Five years of disappointment and hurt is enough.

and he isn’t unhappy at arsenal so if he doesn’t get move he will not refuse to play, or buyout contract.

You may be bloody gullible my friend , but some of us can REASON.

Yes he might stay at Arsenal, but again the probability of that happening is very low as there is no Intention expressed of staying at our club.

If we have Fabregas’s contract, it is very simple

Arsenal Football club release a statement stating Fabregas is NOT FOR SALE and has FIVE years to run on his contract.

This reminds me of the Greedybayor transfer, where the club couldn’t make it’s mind up or find the replacement.

Timing is everything and Fabregas has got this one all wrong.
Uefa are expected to introduce their balanced chequebook scheme on Thursday meaning that teams qualifying for Europa and Champions League must not have the massive debt being carried by many of Europe’s top clubs today. Domestically, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Man City would miss out.
Barca’s huge debt that Sandrell spoke of last week would surely eliminate them from contention.
Since this is expected to start for the 2012-13 season, I would expect AW and Arsenal Football Club’s fiscal diligence to pay off.
This gives Barcelona 2 more years of prospective dominance before the face of European football is changed fundamentally.

Talk about putting 2+2 together and getting 10. He’s not going anywhere and said comments just prove it entirely cause there’s no way Wenger will sell him unless it’s something too good to be true and I’m talking Ronaldo money like 60-80 million in which case they wont pay that and Fabregas will see out his contract or at least stay for the next 2 years. IF he’s leaving it up to WENGER then ARSENE will tell him he’s staying. It seems to me that his comments are being turned into a situation to critisize the manager.

I’m delighted that today we all saw Fabregas talking in english about his future so there can be no confusion. IF we receive a massive bid from him he’ll happily leave or if we don’t or wont accept anything for him then he’ll happily stay. I think you got it all wrong. He said he is not going to lobby any more for the transfer. He said he values Wenger more than anyone else in world football. He implied that he was honorable. He said he would respect the privacy of the conversation he had with Wenger.

Clearly it is possible that he will leave, but I can imagine many factors going into that. Useless to speculate on them. If Wenger strengthens the squad a lot, then it is more attractive for Cesc not to go just yet, etc. etc.

If I were Arsenal, I would see this as a critical matter — they need to get whatever value they think is right, and they need to clarify what they can say about Cesc to any player they might want to recruit to the team. They have to wait until the new leadership is in place at Barca, and if it were me, I’d want to know whether Barca will pay the 16 million they currently owe before talking about them buying anyone else.

I just dont get some people, seriously your all slamming Cesc before anything has happened, you believe everything you read in the papaers or on blogs? if yes then i give up now if no then look at it this way, Vieira left and went downhill, henry left but only after breaking the club goalscoring record (most ppl will leave in the end, you cant blame them for that) Overmars left (for a massive fee) and went downhill, petit left and went downhill… so not exactly cats and sinking ships. If Cesc leaves for his boyhood dream club who the hell are we to blame him, he has already said he wont go unless the money to arsenal is right, so FAIR F*****G play to him, hes worked hard as a gooner since 16 and given alot (as we have to him) to the club but if its time for him to move on, then its time. My only concern is that we get the correct value of our player) eg.De Rossi man city 45Mil Euro, Cesc has to be worth that and then some.
That said i do want to see more signings too but not 5-6 just a top CB, GK and perhaps another CB and Mid as cover. Gourcuff would work at Arsenal . Cesc leaving not the end of the world, chin up ney sayers!

The quotes I read regarding Fab4 this morning also quoted him as feeling loved by the fans (last paragraph), most confusing for someone who’s supposed to be on his bike.

He said: “I have had a long conversation with Arsène. I respect him so much and do not want to say too much. He told me to concentrate on my football and the World Cup.

“He told me to leave it in his hands and he will deal with my future. It is not up to me anymore. It is now about Arsenal and whoever it has to be. I do not want to say anything else.

“A world Cup is too important to be thinking about other things. I am concentrating 100 per cent on recovering from injury.”

Fabregas initially left Barcelona for Arsenal as a teenager in 2003, and he is grateful to Arsène Wenger for helping him develop at the club.

He added: “I have great respect for Arsène Wenger. I have great respect for the club and the fans. Sometimes not even in my house have I felt more loved than I felt at Arsenal.”

He doesn’t ask him if he can guarantee that he’ll be at Arsenal next season, he asks if he can make any guarentees about his future. Slightly different because he also doesn’t guarentee that he won’t be at arsenal.

However the most important part is that he says its in Arsene’s hands and its up to Arsenal which means that he has definitely told them he wants to leave and now its up to Arsenal to sort it out with barcelona. Its obvious that he wants to leave but I would like to see Arsenal refuse to sell. It would be the first time they have put the club first and the player second. Arsenal don’t need the money, Cesc has a contract. Make him stay and strip him of the captaincy but he should still play because his transfer value will drop if he doesn’t and he’s a better player than anyone else we are realistically going to buy.

What the freak?! Yes, he will leave but don’t even try to make this into an “of course we understand him. He’s too good for arsenal and who can blame him.” WE CAN ALL BLAME HIM!! The guy is leaving us at the age of 23!!! He has had two really good seasons with us, before that he was good, but not the Cesc he has been for the past two three years. So now he’s that great player, that we made, and he wants to leave us and people are feeling that is okay?! ONE realistic year, that’s all he can give us? Don’t say we had any chance of winning anything before this season because we did not have the money. Wenger messed up before this season and that’s all he can give the man who made him, the club he says he loves?
No, this is Cesc way of being smart. Of eating the cake and keep it. By this he puts the blame on Wenger if he leaves.
There is nothing in this that makes me feel better about him. The player I loved the most, and still do, have turned his back on the club who made him, on the coach who’s been like a father to him, because he messed up one year?! Wenger’s done more for him that Fabregas ever done for Arsenal, Arsenal done more. Don’t forget that!
He is NOT bigger than the club and we do not owe him anything. If he wants to leave, let him, but do not come and say that it’s okay that it’s so bad for him that he has to play with us. He knew very well that we couldn’t keep up with the top teams when we were building emirates. What Wenger has done for Arsenal these past 5 years is his biggest thing in arsenal. Fabregas needs to know that this is the beginning of the peek that this team will reach, and he needs to give it more than one freaking year.

FTK you’ve lost the plot mate. First of all, the reason I want Cesc to stay isn’t because he is a great player, it’s because of the passion he has for the club (ie when we scored against the Spuds he seemed like the only one that knew what it meant and vp of course) but he has not said he’s going nor did he say he wants to go. I think he doesn’t have a clue what he wants and that’s what he told Wenger. It is a blessing in disguise because I think Arsene will act now as he know’s if it carries on there will eventually be a player revolt. All in all, this is positive as we know it’s in Arsene’s hands. Most of you on this board watch too much SKY and buy into all the bullshit! He might not and i hope he decides not to but if a big enough offer comes in then Arsene might decide to take it.

Color me one of the opti…well… not-as-pessimists.

With Wengers statements of wanting signings in before the WC + Cesc’s statements of wanting his future sorted before the WC + this converstation, I see more of a “I would like to go home, but you can convince me to stay by doing the spectacular and also, if Barca try to shortchange you, I won’t force my way out.”

Why does he say its up to wenger? Surely its obvious that Wenger would want to keep his captain and star player? So why does he put it like that?

Cesc knows that wenger wants him to stay so if it were really completely up to him then after their conversation Cesc would be saying he was definitely staying. What he means is that he’s decided he wants to leave and its up to wenger and arsenal to agree a fee with barca.

Cesc has his reasons to want out and in my view the biggest one is the injuries. This time he was lucky his leg was only cracked and he will recover quickly but in these league you never know what the next tackle will be. He saw Eduardo and Ramsey and he doesn’t want to be the next one. Put on top of that the lack of quality, desire and professionalism in most of his teammates. He is not staying.
There is something with all these Spanish guys – Reyes, Merida, Fabregas, now Vella. Just kick out Almunia and we will be much better off. We need more northern steel in this team. Look at Vermaelen – this is what we need.
I say if he wants out, sell him to the first who pays 50+ milions. He wants Barca but we should not give a fuck about it. We sell to the highest bidder. If it happens to be Barca – fine, if not – still fine for us. The pity thing is that Wenger sold the invincibles to build a team for Fabregas. Call it a betrayal, a treason, whatever you like but for me this is a big fuck up for Wenger. Time to drop off the failed project and salvage what is still good from those who left. Then spend big and build a team that knows how to fight. Oh, and normally this requires a new project manager.

I think too many have ignored who is the manager of Cesc at this time. The moment Cesc said anything not agreed by and with the Spanish International Team Directors, Cesc would be out of the Spanish World Cup Team, pronto!! That is why he left the matter up in the air with Arsene. I remember a Brazilian Team Manager shooting someone in the 70′s, and I suspect Cesc does not fancy that one little bit!!

My first time responding to a blog.

Cesc has been a silly boy imo.

My take is that someone has been whispering in Cesc’s ear (probably his father). Basically telling him “BFC is behind the move but you need to throw it open by making some comments publically wishing to come to BFC then wait for BFC to kick into gear the process to buy you.”

What they didn’t plan for was Barca probably don’t have the money and now using emotional plees from players from Fisn’t solve the get cesc either.

Now Cesc is probably wishing that he didn’t spoke to media Barca “old” boys but instead to Wenger and arsenal to organisea transfer.

my guess today’s talking toe the media was to stop the speculation so him can get on with WC duties because it was clearly impacting this performance.

My take is he is going here with us but having muffed it up completely this summer, he have to wait until next year to try again.

barca will not produce the minimum AFC have requested. So he’s staying and has to make the necessary back pedlling and reafirming by demonstrating is love of Wenger and Arsenal.

It’s very sad, but he sounds like he’s made his mind up that at the end of the day he should be playing with better players in the best team in the prime of his career.

He said that “It’s just now about Arsenal and whoever it has to be“. In other words, he’s going to the club that Arsenal sell him to: Barca or Real or AC/Inter Milan.

The fee will be high: can Arsene spend the money?

The fact that Arsenal are financially secure is not to be deplored.

The fact that Barcelona can come knocking with 50 million and we won’t offload Cesc like hookie laptops is testimony to that.

Never mind about the possibility of Fabregas leaving (and Merida and possibly Wilshire, that could be three players short on last summer before we even begin signing replacements)has anyone seen or heard anything about what Arsenal’s shirts will look like next season? It’s two or three months later than usual and we still don’t have a clue what we’ll be wearing when most other teams new strips are already on sale. Talk about a marketing faux pas. We could’ve sold loads of ‘Chamaq 29′ shirts last weekend but the new one isn’t on anyone’s radar yet much less in the shops! I sometimes wonder if Arsenal do indeed have a marketing department or a commercial department becasue if they have they haven’t a clue what they’re doing and are a laughing stock. My mates are starting to the p*ss out of me something rotten because everything Arsenal do these days is out of touch, complacent and designed to screw the absolute maximum amount of cash out of us fans. It’s like David Dein never existed because those of you who remember Arsenal before he arrived in the mid eighties will recognise the stagnation around the club now is exactly like it was before Dein came here. Happy days. Not.

I think you have it wrong.

The way I see it is this. He has to spend the next 6 weeks or so with the Spanish national team surrounded by Barcelona players. The last thing he wants to do is to announce that he has decided to stay at Arsenal and to disappoint everyone around him. Trust me, Cesc will announce that he is staying when he gets back from South Africa and not a moment sooner. AW is like a dad to him, and AW would have told him that he genuinely thinks it is best to stay at Arsenal than to gamble on getting into the Barca team.IMHO.

Well if I talk of Gourcuff its because I seen him play since one and a half year (6 months after he arrived to Bordeaux) I watched every game of Girondins since then.

He rapidly became my favorite player and Im sure that he could be better than Cesc in Arsenal because he´s not only taller, stronger and faster (wtf with the ones who said that he´s slow, Cesc improved a lot this season with his peace but even that I think Gourcuff is faster). He also shot more to goal and his numbers of his last season are almost identical to the recent finished season of Cesc, and his numbers for this season are identical to the 08/09 season of Cesc.

He dont give the same killer passes of Cesc but being the same age of Cesc I think only after 6 months of polishing by Wenger he will be better than Cesc.

But anyway we´re talking about a rumor, we can talk more of him if Arsenal sign him if not so lets put faith in Nasri, Diaby, Rosicky and Ramsey.

Rubbish! Arsene has shown ambition. We were challenging for the title with 3 weeks to go. We had been awesome in the years before also. We just came up short due to bad luck and inexperience. Its insulting the way some of you view our recent prem campaigns. We have come very close and with the youngest squad in the league. Love your club!!

    Eden Hazard replacing Cesc !?!?
Lille FC would be listening to offers.

Then with 1 CB, 1 CB+DM (versatility rotating with Song and our 2 regular CBs), and hopefully a seasoned GK (from EPL) – Sorensen? Jaskalainen? to guide our young GKs. (expecting Almunia and/or Fabianski to leave)

I believed that Cesc’s has a contract which says IF Arsenal were to sell him, Barca shall get the first option to buy him back. All that leaves then is the negotiation of the transfer fee and add-ons. (this contract IMO was already in place when we got him as a youth player)

Am I being naughty but I wouldnt mind arsenal doing a deal with chelsea for a swap essien for cesc maybe with another player like alex. Arsenal need to go back to warrior midfielders the fact is we have never replaced viera. too many square passes and tapey tap shit, We need a good spine we always had before, GK central defenders midfield and always had quality upfront, fact iswe play in england and not spain our style is suited too much toward spain no wonder they keep trying to tap up our players
