FTK Blog: Who will be Arsenal’s next keeper?

Add as preferred source on Google

This World Cup has proved dull and uninteresting thus far with opening matches being played out to boring conclusions. The fear of losing the first game means that many teams are defensively orientated. Only Argentina had their star Lionel Messi looking to have transferred his club form to the Internal arena. Looking at the goalkeepers has been alot more interesting. Arsenal are looking for a keeper and some of the prospects linked with the club are on show in South Africa. One cannot judge a book by it’s cover, but I am arguing that you should certainly judge a keeper by his mistakes. Here are the latest mistakes from the weekend round of games at the World Cup.The FIFA ball being used in the competition appears to be coming in for criticism, yet as can clearly be seen the three goal keeping howlers cannot blame the ball in my opinion.
Howler 1.
Robert Green v USA World Cup error
Robert Green is England’s number one yet on Saturday’s performance you wouldn’t guess it. The inability to collect a low ball made the West Ham shot stopper look less than competent. His later good save at the near post which prevented the USA winning was what should have been expected, for to be have beaten at his near post would have been worst than the original mistake and surel;y would have all but ended his goal keeping career at International level in very much the same fashion suffered by Paul Robinson
Howler 2.
Fawzi Chaouchi v Slovenia
Algeria’s keeper Fawzi Chaouchi  made Robert Green look good as he completely failed to collect a curled long range effort from Slovenia’s Robert Koren
Howler 3.
oops! Schwarzer v Germany
I cannot believe that Schwarzer is a top class keeper based on this effort, or am I being harsh? Well thank god he did it before he signed for the Gunners I suppose…lol
So if Arsenal do intend to buy a new keeper, here are my top three favourites in no particular order…
Hugo Lloris of Lyons
Lloris saves compilation
He has the agility, presence and consistency of a world class keeper. Some of his saves are out of this world. Linked with a move to Old Trafford, I wonder if Arsene might be inclined to make an earth shattering bid to secure his services?
Joe Hart of Manchester City
Hart, a keeper to watch?
Generally regarded as the best England’s best future prospect, what would we have to lose if we decided to pledge our future to this very capable keeper?
Sergio Romero
Dutch masterclass from Romero
Would Argentina’s keeper make the trip to the Emirates? He has talent, flair and a great personality added to his amazing shot stopping. The Dutch league club AZ Alkmaar are likely to ask a very high price.
Hope you enjoyed the videos. Ok, you cannot judge a keeper purely on his reflex saves on youtube, as Robert Green’s performance against Arsenal at the Emirates a couple of seasons ago should indicate. Equally one cannot rely on the final league position of the resident Club that the keeper plays at, the final analysis must be made by the hard work of watching the keepers game after game after game.
So who should Arsene Wenger buy as our replacement keeper? Over to you guys….
