Vincent Kompany is the player Arsene Wenger wants to partner Tommy V. at the heart of the Arsenal defence. I’ve been told that the Belgian international is the subject of interest from the mighty Gunners and talks are being held over the possibility of a move. Please don’t shoot the messenger, people…again, this is what I am told from someone in the (supposedly) know.
It isn’t without coincidence that he happens to be a pal of The Tomster, given that they are international team-mates and his addition in this respect would make perfect sense. Lord knows we need a defender.
Kompany, also a defensive midfielder, has been playing at centre-half for City in some of their pre-season friendlies so we might have difficulty persuading Roberto Mancini’s mob to let him go. While you’re at it, AW, can you nick either Joe Hart of Shay Givem from City too!
In other news, I am told we played a Plymouth XI in a behind-closed-doors friendly match on Friday and that we had some trialists playing but we are awaiting more information on this. Apparently, Arsenal U18s lost 3-2 to Plymouth. Stuttgart’s Serge Gnabry played, he’s here for a week on trial (info courtesy of YoungGunsBlog).
Short and sharp but I will add more info as it arrives at Arsenalinsider HQ…
