Arsenal beat 10-man Partizan Belgrade

Marouane-Chamakh-Arsenal

Arsenal beat 10-man Partizan Belgrade 3-1 in their Champions League encounter in Serbia to cement top position in Group H.Andrei Arshavin’s 15th minute goal was cancelled out by a Cleo penalty 18 minutes later but second-half goals from Marouane Chamakh and Sebastien Squillaci saw the Gunners make it two wins from two.

Arshavin missed a second-half penalty after a professional foul by Marko Jovanovic on Chamakh saw him dismissed but new signings Chamakh and Squillaci made the game safe.

Cleo saw a late penalty saved by Lukasz Fabianski, replacing the injured Manuel Almunia in the visitors’ goal, as the Londoners rebounded from their home defeat by West Brom at the weekend in one of the most intimidating atmospheres in European football.

Arsene Wenger’s side’s 6-0 win against Braga in Matchday One was the biggest ever victory in the opening match of a Champions League group stage but this match was no walk in the park for 70 minutes.

a lazy display, songs passing was pathetic for a professional, this team lacks leadership and urgency, should off won this game in the first half,if belgrade had scored their penalty im not sure we would off held on for the victory, jack is a great little battler,he will be a legend.

d*ck. Yet another never happy fan!! We had most of our first team missing you twat. And we won 3-1 away from home.

And they didn’t score their penalty, so give the keeper some credit. Or are you to busy criticising?

I know you’re here Dan, reading the posts, secretly wishing you’d grown up somewhere else with different influences.

A pathetic lack luster display. yet again against one of the worser teams in the whole competition and against ten men

all the problems in our bad play was evident.. if we played the same exact way against a slightly better team we would have lost and against a good team we would have got thrashed

I think James and Big Dave have got a point.

Yes we won and any away result, particularly in Europe is a good one.

But we really should have had it wrapped up by half time. Song did keep losing posession. And sometimes we do appear leaderless but that’s not just last night that happens a lot.

Maybe it wasn’t the greatest spot kick but more often than not a rocket in the middle goes in, unfortunately their keeper was sh*t hot last evening, on another night we would have scored 5 or 6. :-)
