FTK Blog: Is it time to start a revolt against FIFA?

The FIFA executive signed their own death warrant yesterday in Zurich by closing ranks and making a political statement of support for their President Sepp Blatter. There is a saying that Pride comes before a fall, and this barefaced display of pride which directed juvenile petulance towards the best presentation of the England bid will lead to an enquiry that will prove once and for all that FIFA is not fit to govern World Football and must be stripped of those rights. But they will not go willingly and the chances of a real fraud investigation succeeding is remote at the moment. So the arrogance of the FIFA executive is based upon the premise that whilst FIFA rules, everyone must capitulate. There is a solution that will require leadership by World leaders and by elements of the existing Sports associations. Using the existing constitution will be argued as the best way to change FIFA, but that would be like Turkeys voting for Christmas. It is just not going to happen.
So what must be done? I am afraid that history tells us that revolution is the only way forward when a ruling cabal uses corrupt means of staying in power. So FIFA must be disenfranchised by the constituent Continental associations breaking ranks and forming a new World Governing body. Australia can lead the Oceana nations, South America may decide to sit aside for the moment, and within UEFA the Russian federation and Blatter’s lapdog Platini will object, so it will be necessary for the fragmentation of UEFA to occur. For Football to continue an emeregency set of rules and regulations must be drafted to ensure that the existing competitions can be transferred to the new bodies. All this will require good co-operation Corporate contracts signed must be nullified upon the basis that the players will simply not be there. The National teams can either agree to move to the new world regulatory body or do without the best players who will be affiliated to the new associations.
We need football leaders to create the vision of this revolution, together with the corporate sponsors and TV franchises, it can be done if the will is there and the prize is worth the effort. The prize is bringing back integrity into our noble game. For if it continues, then ordinary people will begin to understand that every penny they give to football will only continue to fuel the fires of greed and corruption. A pipe dream you say?  So what is the alternative to my new utopian vision of a reorganised World Football association? Well there is the very real prospect that FIFA may itself be about to become weaker. The self destruct button has already been pressed, For it is likely that in two years time FIFA will be begging England to take on the Brazil World Cup of 2014 as the project falls by the wayside with failure to build the infrastructure and stadia required for the event. FIFA will come and arrogantly suggest that England stage this World Cup and come to the rescue of the footballing nations of the World. This will be the time for England to tell FIFA to reform drastically or face the mess on it’s own.  If FIFA refuses then it’s Sponsors will face losing thousands of millions and FIFA as the edifice we know it will come tumbling down…
So there is hope!
