by CARL ELDRIDGE This tale of an old rivalry brings me a bit of light relief this morning after hours freezing my nads off yesterday to get to a game that wasn’t on.
The missus wants to know why, if the match didn’t go ahead, I was back eight hours later and had clearly been imbiding. I chose the fifth ammendment.
Anyway, this is what the Screws gave us today and as I said it brought a smile to my face, knowing as I do a few of the Riders and their followers.
ROCK star – and Tottenham fan – Bruce Foxton was forced to scrap a gig after just four songs when rowdy Arsenal fans covered him in lager.
The former Jam guitarist stormed off stage in Islington after the Gooners hurled abuse and ale at him as he played with his new band, From The Jam.
The trouble was sparked when Foxton refused to let a support act, Riders Of The Night, play on the bill.
The Riders are all Arsenal fans and had sold more than 100 tickets for the show.

“We’re not sure why Foxton wouldn’t let the lads play but he probably regrets it,” said one onlooker. “It seems a bit petty just because the boys are all staunch Arsenal supporters.
“After four songs he gave the crowd an ultimatum that if he was a target once more he would quit. A few seconds later a plastic glass full of lager drenched him and off he went.”
Hmm, that’s entertainment!
