Is it time to cash in on RVP?

Robin van Persie has shown countless moments of class over the years. From his volley at Charlton, to the extraordinary goal he pulled off against Inter Milan, there is no doubt that the Dutchman is a special player.
You could watch endless highlights of his brilliance since he came from Feyenoord in 2004, and think one would be mad to question whether his future should be with The Arsenal.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying that we should sell him in January for any half-decent price we can get, but his performances – or lack of – since Thierry Henry left especially, do not fill me with confidence. Although, it’s always going to be hard to take over from someone who scored 226 goals for the Gunners.
Obviously, his time on the injury table is an ongoing concern. It’s an unfortunate story which sees Robin spend more time getting treatment, then actually playing. It’s worrying to think that the jokes about him being made out of glass could well be true – thinking about it, he has never denied it!
Joking aside, his record with injuries isn’t woeful to say the least.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Robin as a player. He shows passion, he oozes the desire to win, and he can do things that are truly mouthwatering to watch. Despite the majority of these incidents occurring a few years ago – when he was in form and keeping fit for us – as a natural football player, you don’t just lose abilities like these.
It may appear that I’m up for starting a coalition to get him out of the club, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I’m a big fan of his, but I’m also realistic. I won’t believe everything is fine with a player, just because they’re a favourite of mine.
It’s tempting to say that we should cash in on him, depending how much we can get for him. Another ludicrous bid from Man City wouldn’t be ignored too!
Although, the thought of Arsene Wenger selling Robin is unimaginable. I genuinely believe that Arsene is still trying to make another Dennis Bergkamp. I feel our manager overrates him, and feel that we could run into a few internal problems when/if everyone is fit.
I feel it’s too harsh to come to any conclusion yet, as he’s only returned from (his latest) injury. I will watch him closely from now, until the end of the season and then make my decision in the summer.
