Cesc Fabregas has brushed off Denilson’s comments that he is not a strong enough leader at the Arsenal – and posed for a picture with him en route to Dirty Leeds.
The Sun nicked a story from Arseblog and carried the quotes from the Brazilian saying that although Cesc is the skipper he doesn’t lead.
He said: “Fabregas is the captain but he is not a leader. It’s a personality thing and a leader can be young. It’s something they are born with.
“We are lacking leadership and we need leadership to go forward. There isn’t a leader. I don’t see one player as a leader. At Arsenal it’s more of a collective team at the moment, everyone is talking – but a leader is always important for a team.”
But Cesc has shrugged off the comments and told social networking site Twitter: “Abt what Deni said. I’ve been in his situation before, just a misunderstanding. Now lets win tonite!”
And he added a snap of the two together on the coach to Elland Road for tonight’s FA Cup third round replay game. It’s encouraging that the remarks have been put to bed and that the team are as one ahead of the game.
The move has been appluaded by Jack Wilshere who tweeted: “Team spirit too good to break here as @cesc4official and Denilson are showing.”
I was looking forward to a pint before the game at the Peackock – an old boozer opposite the ground that I have frequented many, many times – but I am told it has been knocked down.
I am sure we’ll find an ale to have before the game…come on you rip-roaring Reds.
