FTK Blog: A call to arms!

When will Gooners start to believe in their possible destiny, and more importantly understand their role in lifting their team to ever greater heights? Ok last night’s win is only half-time in theChampions League fixture, and yes Barcelona could have scored another three goals, but equally we had chances to be three goals better as well. In three weeks time we will have another opportunity to set the record straight. We may win or we may lose, but what ever happens as long as we give it our best, no-one should be disappointed. This morning as I drove to work I heard on the radio Gooners coming on and claiming that we were lucky, WTF??? Can you believe that some of our own so called “fans” are not satisfied with the marvellous victory, they are so convinced that doom will befall the club, that it must have been a delusion last night.
One Gooner was heard to remark, that in the Camp Nou it will be three nil down by halftime and normal service will be resumed by Barcelona because of their 98,000 fans urging them on. What more have this team and it’s celebrated manager got to do to convince the moaning minnies and the gloom merchants who won’t cheer for their team until a goal is scored? Last night The Emirates finally came alive. The noise was deafening after the first goal, and the immortalised words of poignant aspiration of the late great Herbert Chapman were shown on the big screen, only to be echoed by the triumphal rendering of

“and it’s Arsenal, Arsenal FC, We’re by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen..!”

A sight to behold, a veritable sea of red and white Scarves held aloft, it was worthy of the scenes at the Kop at Anfield, it made the hairs stand up on my neck and my chest expanded an extra 2 inches with pride… Those are moments that what ever the outcome I shall treasure to my grave… This was the night that we beat the mighty Barcelona and the night that finally our team received the support that it has yearned for, and richly deserved on merit and merit alone. We have now as fans laid down a benchmark, we can raise the roof at the Emirates when we choose to, we can now generate emotion that will lift our players in times of siege. We must now go on to repeat this, not just in Champions League games, but in EVERY game from now until the end of the season, we must prove our worth as fans absolutely. The team has delivered, now we must fulfil our side of the bargain
I was not alone in the belief that Arsenal would prevail as stated in my blog earlier this week, Arsene Wenger was confident as were some of our players. But there are other prizes on offer. The Carling Cup, The Premier League and the FA Cup. We will keep our feet on the ground, but let this call to arms go out to every corner of the Gooner Empire.  Every Gooner who attends the games must do their duty… We can do this!
YOUR VOICE IS NEEDED.
YOUR UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT IS EXPECTED,
YOUR ALLEGIANCE TO THE CAUSE IS VITAL

Let this be the moment that Arsenal Football Club, its players, its management and its fans became united at The Emirates and as our proud motto declares… let it be
VICTORIA CONCORDIA CRESCIT —- Victory through teamwork!
