Cesc To Miss Final

Cesc-Fabregas_1673048

Cesc Fabregas will not play in this Sunday’s Carling Cup final against Birmingham, after picking up a hamstring injury against Stoke City last night.

Arsene Wenger also stated that he does not know whether Cesc will be back for the Barcelona away tie, saying that giving a deadline would be “impossible”.

Fabregas will join Theo Walcott on the sidelines, who sprained his ankle against Stoke.

However, Robin van Persie, Laurent Koscielny and Abou Diaby are all expected to be fit for Sunday’s final at Wembley.

I'm 20 and have been an Arsenal season ticket holder since 2006. My family has had Arsenal links since the 1920's, and the support is still going strong. I am at every home game, and also manage to get to multiple away games, when I can. I have been writing for various blogs and websites since I was 15, but have now settled down and have become a regular writer for Arsenalinsider. I also run my own Pro Evolution Soccer blog, Only Pro Evolutions. Arsenal is my passion. Writing is my passion. I was never good enough to play for The Arsenal, so I'll do the next best thing!

It will be a big miss but hopefully we have the resources in the squad to cope without him.

I’m sure arshavin will stand in adequately for theo (and has probably been playing better than theo recently) but Cesc will be more difficult to replace.

Perhaps it would be worth playing Samir in his position and bringing in Bendtner rather than playing Diaby or Denilson. However Wenger seems to like Diaby more than seems understandable so I would guess that he will be starting but I hope I’m wrong.

    My line up would be:
Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Koscielny, Clichy, Song, Wilshere, Nasri, Bendtner, RvP, Arshavin.

Any further news on when Vermaelen is due back? He’s been out for so long I can hardly remember what he looks like.
