Lehmann set for action – Jack the lad’s a proper Gooner

jens2

by CARL ELDRIDGE It looks increasingly likely that Jens Lehmann will make his second Arsenal debut against Wigan in the reserves next Tuesday. AW signed the German mentalist to give us back up given the injuries to Chesney and Fabianski and he was on the bench at West Brom on Saturday.

AW has since gone on to admit the Invincible isn’t fit enough to play so he will be desperate to get him game time in the two weeks we have before the Gunners are back in action against Blackburn Rovers at THOF2 on April 2. He said: “He looks like a guy who’s not been involved for a long time but has kept his body fit. He has the basic physical fitness but he lacks a little bit of decision-making and practice in goal. Would I consider starting him? I’m not going to get into that now, we now have two weeks.”

Apart from training and the possibility of practice games or a behind-closed-doors friendly, the next chance for Lehmann to play is in the North West against the Latics second string. Given the woeful decision making of MA at the Hawthorns it wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility that he starts in goal as No.1 against Rovers but, realistically, AW will stick with Almunia in my opinion.

Meanwhile, a gripe. Those of us who travelled and suffered the first half of inept football against the Baggies – and indeed the thousands who caught the game on internet feeds etc – would have liked the players to at least acknowledge our existence after the game with a brief moment of recognition perhaps in the age old fashion of applause.

By the time I left the ground only the increasingly magnificent Jack Wilshere was the only one to do so. Perhaps more did, I don’t know. I do know that it is rarely the case – and it should be compulsory. I’ll forgive Denilson having to applaud after his first half. Talking of Jack, he has – if at all possible – gone up in my estimation after I saw this yarn in yesterday’s Sunday Mirror

The Premier League title? Lots of twist and turns to come yet my fellow Arsenalista - keep the faith. If all else fails, at least we are Arsenal.

Utterly deplorable. You disgust me. You fool. ]

That is exactly what is wrong with football players. You actually condone this behaviour.

I have family who are spurs fans and fans of other clubs other than Arsenal. I may not agree with their club of choice but to think some man would spit at them for it, is just disgusting.

He’s not a ‘proper gooner’ at all. How dare you tarnish us with that tag. Idiot.

You absolute fool and you are representing these fans ?
you disgust me and that is far worse than anything I have been blocked for on this site, where is FTK and what is his stance on this disgusting post !
How the hell can any fan be proud of a player for dragging his club through the gutter ? I am disgusted with Ledley King even now for his outburst and racist comment to a doorman 2 years later, perhaps you are exactly the type of supporter who gives Jack the impression it is acceptable, I for one as an Englishman am extremely concerned by Jack as he has tremendous ability but is never far from on field aggro and back chat and now has an alarming amount of off pitch stuff against him for a 19 year old..girls being beaten up, cab drivers in Hitchin being abused and now cautions for gobbing at a cab driver..diabolical behaviour and you are the biggest clown of all for condoning it..

I agree with the two above comments above, and i’m an Arsenal fan. He’s young and he made a mistake and will learn his lesson. But you can never condone somebody spitting at at somebody else. It’s disgusting

I have to agree with the comments above and especially with bigsy. Despite his talent he has to get his private life under control. It will be better for Arsenal if he did. I don’t really care what any of the players get up to in their personal lives but its obvious, for example, how Steven gerrards performances dropped since he was arrested and had to go on trial, so its better for arsenal if jack doesn’t get into any serious trouble.
