Cesc faces crucial fitness test

Cesc-Fabregas_1673048

by CARL ELDRIDGE Right, the griping, moaning and whinging stops here. Right here. right now. It’s time to stop having a pop at the manager and players as we battle to keep the season alive and go on to win the Premier League. We’re second in the league and have players coming back. We have our main rivals for the crown, United, to come to the Ems. It is in our hands. We need to forget the trophy drought – at least until the end of the season – and get some perspective. We’re fans, right?

United are fighting on three fronts for silverware. We now have one goal. Let’s back our boys all the way. Remember we could have three injured first-team players fit for the next game against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday week. Alex Song is hopeful of making his comeback from knee trouble and Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott are also looking good to play in the game. We can only get better — certainly better than the first half at the Hawthorns anyway.

Song’s injury has proved to be more serious than was first thought. He had been feeling some trouble in the knee before the Carling Cup final against Birmingham but he suffered a knock during the game it was not expected to rule him out for too much time.

But he has not played since, missing five matches, and was told that rest was essential. He continues to have intensive physiotherapy but has begun to train and will step this up with the international break a great chance to step up his rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, Cesc will have a test today to see whether he is able to return to full training, having suffered again from a hamstring injury. Theo has not played since he injured his ankle in the home win over Stoke in February but it is said he has a good chance of facing Blackburn. Other positive injury news reveals that Johann Djourou does not need surgery to repair the shoulder he injured in the FA Cup defeat at Manchester United. He could even be back for crucial home game against United on May Day.

Well done Eldo, a positive attitude and optimistic outlook, just what we need as the club approaches the critical final run in to the Premier League title.

We must pray that Bendtner is the only casualty from this latest round of Internationals.

The Mirror is reporting that Arsenal have agreed to sign a centre back from Hertha Berlin. A fifteen year old for £220,000. That will make all the difference in the world to our shaky defence!

Somebody else to add to the “hate list” Stuart Pearce, it seems that “Psycho” is intent on calling up Jack Wilshere for the summer under 21s competition. Leave the lad out Pearce, he needs a rest not more gruelling competitions.

It’s good to see Old Red Nose is up before the beak and banned for five matches. I’ve a sneaking sympathy for him though as he was speaking out about poor refereeing and that’s something that needs sorting.

We seldom hear of a ref being censured for bad decision making although there have been some appalling instances which have proved very costly to the clubs on the receiving end.

A word of apology or a few words of explanation from the official would not go amiss.

Can I ask you guys a serious question ?

Do you care about Fabregas anymore ?
    His backheel against Barca?
    His Injury problems?
His hugging and flirting with his hometown?
He is not as good as Nasri !
He is an asset for only the next 6 months at this rate ?

WE ARE RIVALS, WE SEE THINGS DIFFERENTLY ! but I can see Modric is offski in the summer to Old Trafford can you be honest and assess Cesc with honesty ! best gone isn’t he for £40 million + ?? I bloody would but I’m a spud ? ha ha

You may be right, but until the end of the season (at least) he is an Arsenal player and deserves our support.

I’m thinking a deal has already been struck and hope it’s a large one for us.

We’ve also got Ramsey who is a natural replacement for Cesc, who will slip into Modric’s position?

    Bigsy,

This time last season everybody and his dog were speculating that Fabregas would be gone in the summer, at that time his departure would have been a disaster.

This time around that is no longer the case, yes he would be missed but with the emergence of Nasri and Ramsey I think we could cope with the situation quite well.

Frankly I’ve become increasingly disillusioned with Fabregas’ attitude and failure to wholly commit to a long term future at Arsenal.

£40 million would go a long way to buying a pair of top class central defenders and with a few more quid thrown into the kitty a top central striker.

What I can’t see is Tottenham finding a replacement for the excellent Modric, Old ‘Arry, despite his ramblings about not selling him for a billion pounds, would snatch £25 million off Man. U and happily pocket the 10% that he is entitled to under the terms of his contract.

Bigsy I would say glad your back, but as I’ve been away for five weeks I didn’t know you’d gone. :D

Seriously why would Fabregas commit to a long term future? Wasn’t he promised investment in the team? We are not going to become one of the “Big” European teams, so playing for Arsenal can’t really compete with Barcelona.

And do you really think that the £40 mil would be used to buy players?

    Monktash,

Was he promised investment in the team? I wasn’t privy to any discussions between the club and the player, were you?

Yes I do believe that this last few months has demonstrated to the club that the squad is thin on quality if not on numbers and that investment is needed and will take place.

But then I could be wrong….

HA HA ..you lot laugh nothing Harry does surprises me, he is hell bent on playing the Dwarf striker until he scores regardless of team morale and results.
This is the crest of the wave before Harry takes on his beloved England job, Modric does the offski, VDV plays 7 great games for someone else and Bale having just signed a nice new contract gets what the contract is designed for ‘a nice big fat payday’..these cotracts now make me cringe because I take it as sign that the club is about to get top dollar…although I could have Wenger in charge I suppose , as he would probably be bringing David Howells in to replace Modric..ha ha

Fair point. I should have said “reportedly” but the sentiment still remains, we need to give players an icentive to want to stay, other than pure cash.

    Let’s hope so.

    Let’s hope not.
