He may want to go home but I don’t think his drop in performances are because of this, I think, as you yourself have pointed out many times, that he has struggled with fitness and injuries way too much this season. Wherever he is next year I predict he will perform better and if he is at arsenal then I think (and hope) his performances will show that he isn’t and never has been distracted by barca’s public tapping up campaign and rather is struggling with fitness.

I would also advocate making someone else captain and if vermaelen had been fit he would have been the obvious choice but seeing as he has also struggled with injuries there isn’t really anyone who could fulfil that role.
