Arsene Wenger has given Tottenham the green light to ground share with the Arsenal at the Emirates, we can reveal. The Gunners boss says it makes “perfect sense” for the dimwits to use the state-of-the-art stadium as their new home after they lost out to West Ham for the Olympic Stadium.
“On the continent clubs share grounds with no problems,” Wenger told Arsenalinsider in an exclusive interview. “Tottenham are keen to move and we are a few miles away with the best club ground in Britain. It makes perfect sense for them to come here and enjoy top class facilities instead of the ramshackle doss house they currently occupy. Although I must say they will struggle to fill the ground – after all it is 60,000 capacity!”
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is said to have approached the Arsenal board last month in his bid to secure a move away from the dilapidated White Hart Lane and was surprised at the good vibes he recieved from the directors and a subsequent meeting with Wenger was set up.
Fans have voiced a mix reaction to the controversial ground share suggestion. Emirates season ticket holder Adrian Monktash fumed: “What on earth is Wenger doing to this club? To house a no good bunch of philistines would be scandalous. Arsenal have majesty and I am afraid letting this lot of second-rate, unwashed, brain dead no-marks share the home of football would be the last straw.”
A Tottenham supporters group is backing the idea of a switch from N17 to N5. Spokesbird Lola Fipro said: “Let’s face it the Lane is a pit. It stinks, is ramshackle and we play in front of third division attendances. Today on April 1 I have to declare that it is, frankly, an embarrassment. To play at such a temple as the Emirates would be an honour. Maybe then we could win the league – it has been 50 long years you know.”
I hate the idea – what do you think?
