Theo Walcott says there is a new-found confidence in the Arsenal camp this year that will see them go all the way in the Premier League.
The Gunners are five points behind current league leaders Manchester United, but have a game in hand and easier fixtures than their rivals.
Arsenal put in a strong title challenge last season as well, but ultimately fell at the final hurdle. Walcott believes it is important that this does not happen again, but believes the players are experienced enough now to stop that kind of collapse from happening.
“We need to win the Premier League,” he said. “I think this year we’ve got that experience that any failures from the past won’t happen again.
“There is a confidence in the camp – and I believe we will be champions, I really do believe it.
“I’m very confident, you’ve got to be. If you’re not confident, then there’s something wrong completely.”
Walcott has made a timely return to fitness and should play a part in today’s game against Blackburn Rovers.
