Arshavin: Wenger wants the title

Andrey Arshavin says Arsene Wenger and the rest of the team are still determined to win the Premier League title for Arsenal this season.

Draws with Sunderland, West Brom and Blackburn in recent weeks have seen the Gunners fall behind main rivals Manchester United in the league, but Arshavin believes the team could be back in it with an important win over Blackpool.

Arsenal won 3-1 at Bloomfield Road, and Arshavin believes it was an even game, which was not in the bag until the 3rd goal.

He said: “I’m happy with the result of the match. I’m glad that we have won. I would divide their game into time segments.

“Some of them our opponent carried out extremely well. For example, the beginning of both halves. During these time segments, Blackpool was playing well, they had plenty of good solutions: they were attacking dangerously, creating problems for us in defense.

“But we did a good job, managed to deal with their threats and scored two goals. In addition, we had several good chances, but never used them.

“As I’ve said, Blackpool had two good playing time segments. In the first half, they could not hit the back of our net and early in the second half, their goal led to a dangerous score 1-2.

“So it’s great that we could catch them on the counterattacks, score a third goal, and earn three points. Arsene wants to be the first. Just like the whole team.”

I'm 23-years-old and currently living in Bristol, studying to be a journalist. I've been hooked on Arsenal since I was about 10, and as much as I sometimes wish I could stop, I can't give them up. Favourite player of all time would have to be Patrick Vieira for the sheer passion with which he played the game.
