Song Heading For Inter?

Alex-Song-Arsenal-2011

Inter Milan are being heavily linked with Arsenal midfielder Alexander Song.

Inter boss Leonardo, has expressed his interest in the 23-year old, who still has 3 years left to run on his current contract at The Gunners.

I believe Song has had a superb season this year.

Over the last 18 months, we’ve seen tremendous improvement from him due to dedication, determination and commitment. His hard work has been rewarded, as he has now cemented his place into the starting eleven of the current Arsenal side.

Earlier on in the season, I compared him to Gilberto Silva of the Invincibles side, and I still stand by that.

When he’s not there, I feel our team misses him deeply. With Denilson, Diaby or even Jack Wilshere to an extent, I really do believe our defence suffers hugely because of his absence.

If he were to go, I would be incredibly surprised if we were able to find a successful replacement as there aren’t many truly great defensive midfielders around at the moment, in my opinion.

I’m certain that we wouldn’t be able to go out and buy someone like Yaya Toure, or someone else of similar quality. More specifically, I’m also pretty sure that Yaya wouldn’t give up his ridiculously high wages at City and opt for a move to Arsenal!

However, I am confident that Arsene Wenger will do all he can to keep Song at Arsenal for next season. For a player of such importance, I know he will do all he can to keep him at the club – Just like he did with Cesc last year… and will no doubt have to do again this year.

I'm 20 and have been an Arsenal season ticket holder since 2006. My family has had Arsenal links since the 1920's, and the support is still going strong. I am at every home game, and also manage to get to multiple away games, when I can. I have been writing for various blogs and websites since I was 15, but have now settled down and have become a regular writer for Arsenalinsider. I also run my own Pro Evolution Soccer blog, Only Pro Evolutions. Arsenal is my passion. Writing is my passion. I was never good enough to play for The Arsenal, so I'll do the next best thing!

Can’t tackle, no pace, average midfielder and poor centreback. If the Inter interested is true, i’d say grab the hand off. This could be the best transfer window ever if the likes of Song, Bendtner, Clichy, Denilson, Rosicky, Eboue, Squilachi are shipped out. Can you say that any of them would really be missed? Squad players at best that can be replaced by more squad players from the reserves but would bring the cash for 3 or 4 actually talented 1st teamers.

Inter will probably go for Essien than Song Besides Song himself will not want to leave.

I will be glad to see the back of him. Gives away needless free kicks, gets dragged out wide. Goes forward to much. Lacks a brain.

Our most consistent player in the last two seasons, and without him we always look relatively poor. He is terribly underrated by a lot of fans. He never let’s us down, and plays through pain quite often.
That said, it’s true that no player is irreplaceable but imo we should be adding a player to the squad who can play the same position. We could do with some competition but also it’s a tough position to play over and over, and it would be useful to have someone to cover/rotate with song.

You do wonder whether half these comemntators even watch Arsenal games. Song is one of the few players in the sqaud who hasn’t let us down this year, the points we’ve got with him in the team have been massive compared to when he’s been gone.

People complain about his match against Barcalona, did they watch Pepe get sent off doing exactly the same job. Decent pace, good tackler, excellent passer, excellent movement. Provides security, key to some of our bigger victories this season, particularly the United and Chelsea wins.

Im kind of in between most of the comments – I dont think Song should be a starter every week, but I think he has the potential to be a great player. Id love to see an experienced player in his position, with Song on the bench/deputising.
Mind you, I think the same about Szczesny and Djourou so Im sure most will disagree!

song is quality. i agree competion for DM role is needed , but for all you ignorant fools to slate him that bad is truely a sign of the poor judgement displayed by so many “fans” of this great club. Song has got the passion and talent, thats why inter want him, duh!!

I think he’s a good player and wouldn’t want to see him go. he didn’t used to be very good, in fact he used to get laughed at a lot, now he’s developed and it is actually a very good player, breaks up play when needed, makes tackles, has the physicality that Arsenal lack as a whole. Wouldn’t want him to go.

Song has made considerable improvements this season compared to his previous attempts. He has cemented a starting place in the team and is now a regular mention in our strongest eleven. I am sure he will prefer to stay than warm the bench in Italy.

I also accept that he is not irreplacable there are many viable candidates.

He still needs to make a lot of improvement to be what we need him to be.

that he is, and he should definently be kept. His ability to be a really good CB is also an added bonus! He does have competition in the name of frimpong, just unfortunently he got injured during a very promising preseason.

As for the person who mentioned melo! he is terribly overrated, not to mention his attitude problems on the pitch. As if his stamp in the WC wasnt bad enough, this season brought in 17 yellows and 3 reds!

Song any day of the week!

ARE YOU LOT MAD! Song is one of the best DMs in the world. None of the replacements mentioned could handle the pace and agression of the EPL. THIS IS NOT OPINION. please see the stats. When he doesn’t play we lose more than twice as many games.

Alex has still got some developing to do mentally and physically and that needs to be done at Emirates. Should people like Vieira join the coaching staff he would benefit immensely.Inter is not for you Alex.

For those with little knowledge and shorter memories, Mr Wenger has managed to assemble a competetive team. This has been achieved with transfer funds that match those available to the likes of Everton or Wolves and NOT the ManIOU, ManCiteh, Chelsea or Spurs.

Mr Wenger has made mistakes because of the restricted transfer funds. The Potential of some of the players has not matched the practical ability to compete in the EPL for several of the bought in or Academy brought forwards.

NO other manager in the EPL past and present could have achieved what Mr Wenger has done to date. Only one or two in the world-wide football sphere could have equalled and NONE to surpass Mr Wenger’s achievements.

FTK I am working on you know what.
