Arsenal Sign Barca Duo

wenger

Arsenal have finalised deals that will see both Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin make a move from FC Barcelona to Arsenal Football Club.

After offers from Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa, Arsenal have finally captured the two 16-year olds from the Catalan capital, who have both signed five-year deals with The Gunners.

Toral and Hector follow in the footsteps of Cesc Fabregas, Fran Merida and Ignasi Miquel, who all left the Camp Nou to come to the red side of North London.

These deals will no doubt bring a great smile to the face of Arsene Wenger, after the club sucessfully held off stiff competition for the promising pair from Barcelona.

I'm 20 and have been an Arsenal season ticket holder since 2006. My family has had Arsenal links since the 1920's, and the support is still going strong. I am at every home game, and also manage to get to multiple away games, when I can. I have been writing for various blogs and websites since I was 15, but have now settled down and have become a regular writer for Arsenalinsider. I also run my own Pro Evolution Soccer blog, Only Pro Evolutions. Arsenal is my passion. Writing is my passion. I was never good enough to play for The Arsenal, so I'll do the next best thing!

    As has been shown with Cesc, the players who are poached from such big clubs usually want to return to them at some point and these deals are probably done with a view to making a profit in the future rather than to making Arsenal the kind of side who has loyal players because of their success.

    Couldn’t have said it any better than you did Rob..Arsenal should be named Arsenal Business Club rather than Arsenal Football Club..

    More 16 year old kids how great. Shall we wait the next 50 years to win soemthing again then?. Iof buying players that want to win something, he buys players that need to develop for years upon years, then when they think they are “good”, they willw ant to leave again, because we still won win aything.

    @gats -
    Mate we’re always gonna buy youth players! These players are for the future and then we’ll add to the first team as well. Don’t panic.

    Apparantly a third player Xavi Quintilla is coming too.

    If you were Barcelona, you must be getting pretty pissed off with this ruling in Spain and I cannot believe the Spanish FA cannot get it changed. If they really cant then Barca should approach Arsenal about some kind of link up. Surely it would be in both club’s interest, there could be some kind of arrangement where the players that fancy a move to England, do so and could loan other players to Barca.

    I assume by “he” you mean Wenger? Well it is actually David Court and Liam Brady that are buying these players out of their budget, as they are taking fewer of the u16 scholars than usual after many did not make the grade. Why shouldnt we get 16 year olds, dont forget Cesc and Jack were only 16 not so long ago. Your comment about players leaving cos they havent won anything probably relates to Denilson. Do you not think the club have approved that interview, it would certainly up his price, as opposed to us saying he has not made the grade and slapping him on the transfer list.

    You are working off one example, Cesc, which does not make for an objective and convincing argument. Look up ‘confirmation bias’ –> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias
    And, if you imply that we will be making a profit on them in the future, that is done through developing the player; his value doesn’t increase just because he was at Arsenal for 5 years e.g. Denilson. That means we will make good players out of these kids. If he becomes so good that he’s breaks into the first team, that’s awesome. If he is not that good, then sell him for his market value (and end up making a profit). This is common business sense.
    Implying that these deals are done with a view to making profit in the future, implies human trade, which I am completely sure that you DID NOT MEAN, and which is completely stupid anyway. SO Arsenal must definitely be buying these kids with the intention of making the club stronger.
