£5 Mill Bid For The Arsenal Midfielder Denilson

denilson

Denilson is set to leave Arsenal this summer and it looks as though it might be destination Roma. The Italian giants are preparing a £5 mill bid for the midfielder.

Denilson hasn’t won anything since moving to London in 2006 and sees himself as a winner in a failing team. The 23 year-old Brazilian has shockingly announced his intention to leave the Emirates and seek a new challenge elsewhere in order to win trophies.

“This has been the worst season of my life and I am so upset, so frustrated,” he told The Sun.

“I am a winner and I came here to win trophies but I’ve been here for five years and won nothing.

“A footballer’s career is over very quickly so it is time for me to move on.”

It leaves many questions surrounding the player who obviously feels he is of a higher standard than his current team mates. The player has become increasingly frustrated this season after spending the majority of his time on the bench rather than on the pitch but there is a reason for that. The Brazilian is not good enough for the Emirates and so it would be in the club’s best interest to cash in on the overly ambitious midfielder this summer.

Fellow Arsenal player, Andrei Arshavin could also be shown the Emirates door this transfer window. The Russian was also arrogant when he first came to England but nowadays seems to show a lack of care about anything to do with the club.

The big money flop trained with his old club, Zenit last week, igniting rumours of a return home. Even though he denies the rumours, it might not be up to him as Wenger looks to build a new squad that he will not be part of.

It looks like Manuel Almunia might also be shipped out as Arsenal look to rejuvenate their squad. The Keeper lost his place in the starting line-up mid-season after countless errors and could look to move back to La Liga to re-ignite hi career.

What say you then, Gooners? (Source: www.footballtransfertavern.com)

Why are you calloing Arshavin a big money flop? Thats pathetic. Sure his season wasnt a stellar one, but his goals and assists were still very good. This kind of lazy piss poor journalism is what I expect of the trashy tabloids, not people purporting to be Arsenal supporters.

arshavin is excellent, no way is he a flop, he played exactly this way (appearing slightly lazy and disinterested) in russia before we got him

I agree. He has the 3rd best assist this season in the league.FFS what more does he have to do. Run arround like a headless chicken like Teves to prove to you he is “working hard”. He also has over 10 goals. Give it a rest. Lazy copy and paste journalism.

Arshavin’s attitude is basically negative. Still I like him. On his day he’s still class. Notwithstanding that do u think it’s enough to usually play a few minutes per match. He should be motivated and kept. Unfortunately I think his ship has left the harbour.

If Denilson could be heading to AS Roma, personally I would like a player-to-player exchange(+cash) for their want-away player (LeBoss should know who that player is from my earlier message ;-) )

With regards to Arshavin, he should not be in the first eleven but we can still keep him as a squad player. Though if other developments occur to our advantage (e.g. If someone better in his forward/striker position is recruited etc), we may look into the situation of Arshavin again.

Lastly, No.1 and No.2 GKs for next season looks to be Szczesny and Fabianski respectively. And we still have Mannone coming back. Almunia can return to Spain.

The fact that people are calling Denilson ‘shit’ just shows people’s lack of football knowledge.

Next to Fabregas, Denilson is the second best passer at Arsenal, he’s got a deadly shot on the ball and he’s got excellent tackling ability and he’s only 23.

The reason he’s looked mediocre this season is because an attackive midfielder naturally won’t thrive in defensive mid, and that’s exactly where Arsene has been playing him.

Fair enough he’s slow but his technique is world class and Roma have just bought themselves a star if this rumour is true.

The reason Arshavin appears to be so ‘lazy’ is that he is extremely clinical in front of goal.

He takes less shots than other players, but scores and assists more. A lot of time he may look like he is ‘doing nothing’, but in truth he is patiently waiting for the right opportunity.

Arshavin doesn’t spray 100 shots into the box and hope 1 or 2 go in. That’s why more than most players you need to look at the stats to understand his value.

It would seem that too many do not look at the facts.

The trainer at Zenit, St. Petersburg would not allow Arshavin to train with the Zenit team. The Russian Squad trained at the Zenit training ground. It would seem that Mr Arshavin was doing extra training?

As for Mr Denilson, his comments in a Brazilian newspaper seem to have caused a rift. His comments regarding the captaincy raises a question whether the interview had been approved by The Arsenal. If Mr Denilson is an attacking Midfielder, why are the majority of his passes backwards or sideways?

Fook me. 5 mil for mr “i lost the ball but cant be arsed to track back to get it back”? All braziliana think they are brilliant becauase they are brazilian.

As for a busy summer — pshaw. Wenger will do the usual 2 in 2 out the most he has done in an entire season is 6 and thats twice in 14 years. Professor genius has said nothing to suggest any different after all he is always right…

Mostly be more youth club projects or obscure frenchmen we train at great time expense then ship out on loan so eventually they be sold and come Back to score against us eg Sidwell, Fulham.

    Denilson might make many passes.

They are all useless passes, he only passes backwards or sidewards. How many assists does he make, how many tackles.

He never tracks back, never shows commitment, he is a piss poor average footballer on way too much money.

Giles grimandi was twice the player, in fact denilson makes david hillier look a decent midfielder.

We can not keep carrying passengers like denilson we must be ruthless to succed.

    @ True Gooner
At long last, someone who can talk sense about a young player like Denilson without the bile and obscenities used by so many this season. He has always tried his best in the tactical shape and form required by Arsene Wenger. The treatment from some fans to which he has been subjected, particularly at the Emirates, is nothing short of disgraceful. There is never an excuse for not supporting a player at home by home fans. I wonder who will be next.
In all the circumstances it would be better if he sought other pastures and I wish him well.

Anybody who simply looks at Arshavin’s assists stats might as well judge a player from a highlights programme like Match of the Day. He loves ‘the champagne ball’. He gives the ball away more than any of Arsenal’s outfield players and on the whole is verging on the inept when Arsenal do not have possession.
I wrote him off when in one one match this season he three times assumed(hoped) he was going to be substituted, jogged over to the touch line and had to turn back! Vela was the final sub laughing his head off!
£80,000 a week, forget it- sign a hungry young talent, Hazard?, and the upgrade will sort out most of out attacking problems.
Am I being harsh….you ask most Arsenal watchers who see him live- sorry if you bought your shirt with his name on it, you’re hanging to the 4 goals against Liverpool.
    Best get rid!
    Come on you Reds!

    Good points.

Can take one measure isolation, whats the player as a whole costing you in the field with ball losses, tackle ratios etc

Similarly, If we just looked at our ball posession as a team we might be deluded into thinking we won the league…

Finally there is NO excuse for someone makimg that much money to be overweight. Just shows he doesnt give a toss. Mayne wages should be tied to performance like in the real world.

Good luck to him. I am not going to slag denilson off because I genuinly believe that a human being can not be accused of having a lack of talent.

I do feel that players who DOES have talent but wastes it because of poor attitudes, poor decision making, lazyness and lack of commitment.
Diaby, arshavin, eboue, bendtner, Vela ect fall in to this category, denilson does not.

    Good luck to you.

Interested to read the various views on Arshavin. I’m one who can’t forget his 4 goals against the scousers (on their patch!).
Watching him closely in games, I keep wondering whether he is wasted in that sort of isolated left wing position. However, I don’t know where else I would play him and would welcome others’

If we want the best players we have to pay the wages for them. I don’t have a problem with that.

The clubs mistake has clearly been to pay the squad players way too much to try and keep everyone happy by making sure the wage differential isn’t too big. And in the end it ends up like communism, great for equality but bad for work ethic and incentive to improve.

I would like arshavin to stay simply because I don’t think wenger will sell more than 3 or 4 players and bring in more than 2 or 3 and there are many other players in the squad who are much worse than arshavin. Denilson, Bendtner, Rosicky, Diaby, Eboue would be my top five players to sell this summer so i don’t think we should be too concerned about arshavin when these players are still in the squad.

For that amount AW could afford rebuilding a proper 4-4-2.

Ummm, he only passes backwards. Show me a forward pass and i’ll stop laughing at the idea of him being a good passer. It’s easy to find a teammate when he has no opposing players within 50 metres of him. Oh but sorry no he’s a wonderful player, too good for Arsenal, he’s worth 10m easily, any club should be desperate to sign him.

I admire how you defend all the players. I do the same, but think your over exaggerating his ability a little bit. He does make alot of passes, but only 5 yars to the side or backwards. World class technique? World Class is Iniesta, Messi, Ronaldo. Don’t think you can put in same bracket. Put in right position or not, his work rate is still poor. That game vs Man utd last when he let Rooney run passed him summed him up perfectly I felt. Anyway keep your supporting up, but don’t over do it!!

I for one would love to see denilson go. I remember he did show signs of talent when he scored a few decent long rangers in the carling cup matches. That’s how far it extends. Bendter swell promising talent but didn’t fit in our system. I do not want to loose arshavin, diaby when on form diary can play excellent and work with the team . He just needs more playing time and to be less injury stricken. Chamhk I do not want to leave either if he was played as a striking partner with rvp instead of rvp playing off of him and if he was just more selfish eg had a few cracks at goal instead of passing he could easily be on double figure league goals with van the man . As van has the ability to play with anyone. My rant over.

Arshavin has been so frustrating this year simply because we know how good this guy is and he has set so high expectations.

I fully believe we should keep him, he will come good. His talent and sheer class ability will come out again next year.

Unlike rosicky who I feel we will no longer see the best of him. So unfortunate really like him but def think its time to let him go, he has offerd nothing the last couple of years.
