The summer and winter transfer rumour silly season is in full swing. It’s driving me mental. At least in the winter there are games to distract us. Fortunately I enjoy both cricket and rugby league so that provides some respite, although the form of Harlequins RL has been less than stellar recently after a decent start. Middlesex has been mediocre but there’s been some entertaining cricket on display.
I shall follow my usual policy on transfers and only comment on them when they’re a done deal. With no World Cup or European Championship this summer those whose only sporting love is football are a bit stuck. The 2011/12 fixtures will be out next Friday, a day which always makes me think about that great line from the film “Fever Pitch” based on Nick Hornby’s novel. “So what do you do in the summer?” “Dunno. Boring. Sit in the park and wait for the fixtures to come out.” Classic!
