Man City Close In On Nasri

Samir-Nasri

Sources understand Manchester City are closing in on a £20million swoop for Arsenal star Samir Nasri.

The French midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium this summer, with a host of top European clubs thought to be chasing his signature.

He has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract in North London, with his current terms set to expire next year.

Manchester United were previously tipped as frontrunners to secure Nasri’s signature, but it seems big-spending local rivals City have now taken pole position in the race to sign him.

The Blues are also reportedly close to capturing Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy, while Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas is expected to leave this summer, meaning manager Arsene Wenger could be left without several of his key players next season.

France international Nasri enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, but could not help the Gunners end their trophy drought, which has stretched over six years.

The 24-year-old arrived at the Emirates from Marseille in 2008 and has since notched up over 80 appearances for Wenger’s side.

This is just verging on the ridiculous with Arsenal now. Nasri, Clichy & Fabregas all possibly going this summer. With the usual inadequate replacements being bought in. Can’t shift the deadweight like Nik B or Denilson cause no one wants them. Our once great club is in turmoil. I may sound dramatic but come on? This is just silly now.

I got a sneaky feeling that AC Milan could also be involved in a deal to seal a move for Nasri (a former Marseille player; As they have done previously for Flamini, coincidentally another former Marseille player, on a free). They have reportedly €50million to spend for a big signing, a certain Mr.X, (to fill Pirlo’s role)

Of course, Milan themselves are also linked with Hamsik and Ganso for their team’s new playmaker position.

    Elsewhere, on the Cesc Saga:
AC Milan’s Galliani quoted, “Fabregas? He will join another club,” Galliani was quoted as saying, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.”

Perhaps this is what Wenger meant by a ‘very active’ summer.

Have no confidence he’ll spend the proceeds on proper replacements either, I can see him now in September saying no one was available ‘at the right price’. He’ll accept overvalued fees for our players, but won’t spend them.

Hec really! who have they all bought?

Man United have lost better players than they have signed, i doubt that any of their new signings would make our 1st X1.

    Chelsea have not signed anyone

Man City have yet to sign anyone

Liverpool have spent £20m on a kid that would get nowhere near our 1st X1

Spurs have signed a 40 year old keeper

    Everton have signed no one

Aston Villa have signed no one

As for Clichy and Nasri, what should we do pay them more than they are worth? or let them walk for nothing next year? or sell them for more than they are worth?
    need i go on?

£7m plus Bridge is an excellent deal for Clichy, even without Bridge i would take it. £20-25m for Nasri is an exceptional deal for a half season wonder.

can anybody tell me exactly what the board and wenger are doing whilst this sorry state of affairs goes on? apparently, wenger is in france whilst rome burns. it looks inevitable now that both nasri and fabregas are off. surely, that would mean then that we’d have about 90m to reinvest but as per usual we’ll end up buying bargain basement “potential” crap. we have 2 billionaires who own 90% of the club yet we’re currently treading water whilst all our rivals spend, and spend big. still, at least we can always win the champions league of accountancy. the silence from the club is deafening.

chelsea will spend. utd bought phil jones who we also bid for. ashley young would have been a good signing for us as well. city are getting proven premiership experience if they end up buying clichy and nasri. are we really to be bracketed with the likes of everton and villa? incidentally, everton are broke so they never buy anybody. the fact of the matter is that whatever money is raised from the sales of our superstars it will not be reinvested back in to the squad. what happened to the £40m we got for toure and adebayor? that year we went half the season without a proper striker just so we could get chamakh on a free the following summer. i really fear for us this season.

And now for some informational diarrhoea.
Have you heard the ManU Nasri deal is actually a swap? They intend to give us Nani PLUS 20 mil in return. How’s that? And the Clichy deal is really Vincent Kompany and Romelu Lukaku PLUS 7 mil! They want to buy Lukaku and then give him back to Arsenal! Crazy, don’t you think?
I can scarcely believe “hijacked deals” on the last day of transfer silence. Everybody’s running with their pants down today cause tomorrow we’d have already known the news were sh*t.
To the people who get so offensive toward the Arsenal leadership: if you want a club that openly states all its plans and vows to spend zillions of pounds for thousands of players that will never make the starting XI, better become City fans. Of the top clubs, most are keeping their actual transactions to themselves. For all we know, Wenger might have secured expenses that extend beyond what Ferguson has actually paid to date.
Anyway, get some sleep and go back to arsenal.com tomorrow, then you’ll get some REAL news.

Do you think phil jones would have got in our 1st team? Ashley Young as much as i rate him, England Manager’s dont, he is always over looked in favour of Walcott, Downing, Lennon, Johnson and in the past even JCole and David Bentley have been preferred to him. Everton and Villa, the next best teams to Liverpool last season, we might not be in their bracket but we all seem to want all their players Jagielka, Baines, Rodwell, Arteta, Fellaini, Downing, Young, Bent. Chelsea will spend and so will Arsenal. As for the Toure and Adebayor money we had already spent most of that on Vermaelen and Arshavin. Before you ask i know i attend the shareholders meetings. Where is Wenger, yes he has been on holiday, god forbid, the man should be allowed a holiday, especially when the transfer window is CLOSED. Yet even while he has been on holiday he has been meeting clubs, agents and watching matches.

Which top class player is going to want to come to arsenal if the limit of our ambition is to finish in the top four and make a load of money in the transfer market? If Nasri and Cesc are sold, then we will be left with only RvP as a truly world class player and how many other world class players are going to want to join a sinking ship whose best players have all but left?

For example, why would Mata want to come to Arsenal when he can get more money and more chance of success and the chance to play with many better players at a number of other clubs?

Lets face it, everything in football is more expensive now and we don’t have a choice but to adapt and stump up the cash if we want to attract and keep the players who are going to make the club successful again.

I’ve got nothing against developing rather than buying talent if you can produce top class players but how can you ever be successful on the pitch if you keep selling the best players you have spent so much time, effort and money developing?

Are you lot having a laugh…. Nasri is nothing but a modern day football mercernary who we are much better off without. He’s played well for three months since he’s been with us & like half of our squad has no backbone when it comes to putting it on the line as he showed in the second half of the season. I’d gladly drive the dickhead to manchester myself. As for cesc i have nothing but respect no matter what happens, how can you criticise someone for wanting to play for the club they have always supported & besides when has he ever slated our great club? If barca never existed he would be a gooner for life, not money motivated in the slightest so thanks cesc & good luck! So Wenger take the money for Nasri & buy Alvarez with it he has everything Nasri has & some physicality about him aswell. I am Arsenal til i die… NO MATTER WHAT! Who would get in whose team now or whether one manager thinks this player is good or not ISN’T THE POINT.

The point is how much ambition the clubs show by how much they spend and who they spend it on.

Man Utd have spent over £50 million already on players who could be their best players for more than 10 years.

Chelsea have spent big on the manager that could be successful for them for the next 10 years.

City are busy buying the best players of one of their biggest rivals.

Meanwhile we are selling two of our three best players and continuing to spend millions on failures.

If Cesc and Nasri leave, how many players in our squad are recognised as being world class? ONE and he spends half of every season on the bench. How can we expect to improve if we constantly sell our best players and replace them with players who aren’t as good in the hope that they improve to about the same level as the players who we’ve sold?

Is this a football club or a profit driven business?? Its called a transfer market but the main aim of it is NOT to make money!

How many players were better than him last season?
In my opinion only Wilshere and RVP (and him, only for the half of the season he was fit).

So how can we expect to do better next season if we sell our 3rd best player to the club who finished one place above us last season. Even if you don’t rate him he’s still one of our best players because people are willing to pay him 180 grand a week.

Ok everyone here is a good way to find out who might be leaving Arsenal this summer…..
****look at the Explosive Arsenal Away Kt Catalogue****if you are a Arsenal Member you would of has a
copy in the post,or just go on to the Arsenal Website.

WHICH BIG NAME ARSENAL PLAYERS ARE MISSING!!!!!

This is a very very big summer for Mr Wenger & Arsenal Football club,it looks like once again some big names are moving on.

Money has to be spent well in This Transfer Window & then in January if needed,
Arsenal Fans,Supporters, have been hit hard in the pocket with over priced Season Tickets and match day prices.

Football as a whole has gone mad,to much Money is involved, the kissing of crest on the shirt means nothing these days. When this new rule comes into play when Clubs have to show how they are balancing there books. We will then see the spending slow down.

One thing is for sure Arsenal Football Club will never be looking over there shoulder
or have to worry about Fifa knocking on there door, can you think of any other teams in the top four every season that can say that?

Its a big summer and big changes will happen, sit back Arsenal Fans and enjoy the ride.

Wenger its time to step up once again, yes we play great football and i for one enjoy
watching it,its time to spend so we can defend!!!!!!!!

Good Luck Arsenal in what every you do this summer and lets hope for a season that does not crumble before our very eyes once more.

what can AW do if Nasri wants 120,000 a week would you give him that he is out of contract next year and will go for free and with his mentality (not only him 99% of the players)you can be sure that he will ask to leave after 2 year(if we renew his contract) same as Cesc. and I don’t believe the (I want win things) it is all lies the truth is ( I want more money) if I was in AW place I will sale him if we can get 20m out of him. what do you think about Cesc’s last season I can tell you that he did not want to play and does not care anymore he wants to go back. on that if he does not care I would not care about him 2 I would put him on the market and let the highest bidder take him even if he want to go to Farca I don’t care.get the money and lets move on. One thing I’m worry about is what AW will do is he going to buy or not.

(I copied my original post from another thread, with a few add-ons)

    News report from Express.co.uk, Link -> http://www.express.co.uk/football/view/256107/Samir-Nasri-is-next-up-as-Roberto-Mancini-raids-Arsenal

With regards to Cesc, Nasri & Clichy could be departures, what say we:

    1) Cesc to Barca (£35million + £5million performance bonus add-ons + £12million rated Ibrahim Afellay)?

Afellay has already won La Liga & Champions League titles with Barca. Ask if he would like to a new challenge at EPL next. (since we might be losing both Cesc and Nasri this summer)

    2) Nasri to (ManU or ManC or AC Milan)
    3) Clichy to (ManC or Pool or Roma)

Both players on last year of contract and if they do not sign new contracts with club, they can go for free at the end of next season.

Some bad man-management from the club when not being able to renew both players’ contract before their last year (that is IF the club really WANTS to retain both players initially). Had the club be prepared to negotiate earlier and it had been known that both players ,on their part, do not wish to extend their contracts then, we could have put them on sale to the highest bidder.

Now the ball is with both players (& their agents) and they are either wanting to go (Clichy) or demanding higher wages (Nasri).

Refer to a radio blog @ talksport,
“If Nasri doesn’t want to stay then Arsenal should let him go” Link -> http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/kickoff/blog/2011-06-29/lewis-if-nasri-doesnt-want-stay-then-arsenal-should-let-him-go

And another radio blog @ talksport interviewing French football expert Philippe Auclair and Manchester correspondent Mike Whalley.
“Auclair: There is something in reports of Nasri moving to Man City but it might not happen that quickly”
    Link -> http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/kickoff/blog/2011-06-30/auclair-there-something-reports-nasri-moving-man-city-it-might-not-happen-quickly

Just a guess at the end of it all:

    (1) Cesc to Barca (looks no brainer). Barca have now offered to withdraw a threat to complain to FIFA about Arsenal signing two of their best teenagers – Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin – if the Fabregas deal can be pushed through.

    (2) Clichy to ManC (Jerome Boateng moving to Bayern Munich; Wayne Bridge also linked with move away) Clichy to battle with Aleksandar Kolarov for starting place at LB.

    (3) Nasri in a surprise move to AC Milan (linking up with Flamini and the awesome attacking force of Pato, Robinho, Ibrahimovic & Cassano) Link-> http://www.soccernews.com/milan-ponder-move-for-nasri/76090/

Time for Gibbs/Jenkinson(LB), Wilshere, Ramsey & Lansbury (CMs) to get more involved.

    Formation: 4-1-2-1-2 (less new players)

    (GK)Szczesny
    (RB)Sagna, (CB)Koscielny & Djourou
    (LB)Vermaelen
    (DM)Song, (CM)Ramsey & Wilshere
    (AM/FW)van Persie
    (FW)Walcott & Chamakh

Subs: Fabianski, Gibbs, Frimpong, Lansbury, Arshavin, Miquel, Jenkinson

    1) Vermaelen at LB (He shall be our version of the legendary Paolo Maldini)

    2) We do not have natural wingers anyway, so our CMs and FWs alternate at the flanks.

With hope, we shall sign Gervinho, Cahill, Samba, Ricky Alvarez, Oxlade-Chamberlain.

:sigh: I got 2 sentences for the club.

    (1) You reap what you sow.
    (2) At the end, you get what you deserved. (I know it hurts, I know it hurts)

What the fans/supporters could do on 1st/2nd July 2011:

    1) Take a road trip away from London, away from all media on transfer outcomes/rumours.

    2) Prepare a pitchfork and a torch for a public demonstration outside The Emirates.

    3) Make dartboards with cut-outs of Peter Hill-DeadWood, Ivan “The Terrible” Gazidis & Arsene Wa*k*r and organise a contest to see who hits the targets most. (no pun intended!)

    4) Stay calm and relax at home because it is not the end of the world.

    5) Lower expectations in that EPL and CL titles might be a bridge too far, perhaps the FA Cup could be a more realistic target. That way, there would be no major disappointment and depression.

Lastly, an radio blog update (Link-> http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/kickoff/blog/2011-06-29/olley-i-believe-gervinho-had-medical-arsenal-today) at talkSport in that Gervinho has gone for a medical at Arsenal.
(Comments on Arsenal starting at 04.15; comments prior were on Chelsea and Villas-Boas). Also mentioning Gary Cahill coming next (cash + a player going to Bolton deal).

twats are flying low this season.
a small comment: everybody knew who Overmars was and everybody knew he had a knee injury in the previous months. Wenger made a bargain by investing in a player that others thought might not make it back to the top.
Henry was at 1998 WC alright, but he spent part of 1999 at Juventus, patently unable to fall in with a team that was not up to his skills. Not everybody thought he still had it in him to make it big.
Wenger is not Arsenal, true, but it was under his leadership that Arsenal got 3 league titles (out of 13) and 4 FA Cups (out of 10). Besides, it’s been said before, most of the decisions for which some fans hold him accountable were actually made by other people. He did not orchestrate the move to Emirates, which I think was the crucial factor behind the club’s recent title draught. He does not choose those teenagers that are later bought by the club.
If your only points are that Arsenal have existed prior to Wenger’s arrival and that all those rumours make you mad, these are fine cards, but they’ve already been on the table. It takes a fine mind to believe all the crap the media sell, and an even finer to think that all the people who think differently must be stupid/twat/kissing Wenger’s ass/Wenger’s apologists. I don’t enjoy watching Arsenal “lose beautifully” and the last season was tough in that area. But Arsenal had title draughts of considerable length before Wenger and they were about to have another before he came. He did deliver in the past and he still can. Of course, you could always bring in another, English manager, or someone completely different – Capello? Passarella? The problem is, this would definitely prolong the draught, while here Arsenal have a chance to end it. If you’re not up to it, then sorry, but you don’t know what you’re in for. Unless you so love taking it out on the club you supposedly support.

This triggers a mandatory offer for the remaining shares, as required by the Takeover Code, an offer that values the club at £731 million, and one that the club’s directors recommend fellow shareholders to accept.

Reading from the above timeline, THERE ARE NO MENTIONS in any case of either Clichy or Nasri getting extensions to their contracts. Is it a hindsight by the board, Ivan Gazidis and Arsene Wenger in missing out on these two players OR that the club has no intention at all in the beginning to extend both players’ contract ???

The incompetencies of the board ->
    Peter Hill-Wood & company
on the protracted backroom power struggle b/w Stan Korenke & Alisher Usmanov (with roles played by David Dein, the late Danny Fiszman, Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith ). That sort of put some of the decision making process of the club in limbo as there is No outright Leader among the board members to make those final decisions.

The inadequacies of -> Ivan Gazidis and his “so-called” experts in the business side of contract negotiations (Either a player extends his contract or the club shall put a want-away player on sale to the highest bidder immediately, not wait for the player’s contract to expire)

The hypocrisy & failings of -> Arsene Wenger, in wanting the retain the services of Clichy and Nasri. If he wanted them so much at the beginning, why wait till the last possible minute to retain their services and the nerve to tell the press, “Oh … I really wanted Clichy and Nasri to stay and am trying my best to persuade them to do so.” Should have done that in 2009 or 2010, not 2011.

Man City are paying James Milner, Gareth Barry and Wayne Bridge 100K a week each. Is it because they are the equals of Fabregas, twice the player Modric is and on par with Lampard, John Terry etc??? You can’t use City paying X amount a week as a sign of how good a player is…..
