I need to hear your views about this subject today and whether you agree or disagree with me. Samir Nasri is going to be kept by the club, even if he refuses to sign a new contract. A decision that I find bizarre given the pain suffered by Gooners over the last six seasons. They have had their season tickets increased to gain £5 million, but the Club now seem happy to throw away over £20 million to cover up the incompetence of failing to keep track of contract renewals. You couldn’t make it up! My assessment is as brief as it is direct. If Nasri refuses to sign a new contract by the end of this transfer window, then I for one will not be singing his name. Why? Basically because Nasri will have decided to put self gain over the wishes of the fans and his club. If he is determined to leave on a Bosman in order to secure himself an extra £40,000 a week, then he will awaken the kind of emotions that Arsenal fans have only just grown out of, post Adebayor.
The emotions are going to run pretty high when you consider Manchester City do not need to save £20 Million other than to create a fig leaf to cover over their cynical breach of UEFA’s fairplay rules. The motivation for doing this is to avoid being kicked out of the Champions League. UEFA cannot sit by and do nothing, otherwise they will have signalled that the rules as currently constructed have major loop holes and these must be closed very quickly. If Nasri really loves Arsenal Football Club, then he must sign a contract extension BEFORE going. There are many examples of other clubs doing that to Arsenal. Andrei Arshavin’s club Zenit St Petersburg did exactly that prior to his transfer. I cannot contemplate seeing a man wear the red and white supposedly with pride, but happy to screw the supporters who pay his wages, in favour of another club. What do you think about this possibility and what would you do if it actually came to pass?
I would like to appeal to Samir Nasri. Manchester City are the richest club in the Premier league, they will be able to pay your wage demands what ever the scenario. So why must you insult the fans who have respected and supported you since you came to the club by making their financial situation at Arsenal Football Club ever more difficult? If you truly appreciate the love that we have shown you, then please sign a contract extension and then if you must go to Eastlands, then at least the fans will not be punished by the loss of your transfer fee. You owe it to us and have a duty to make it fair. Manchester City do not need your financial help. Manchester City appear to be riding a coach and horses, or more apt a coach and three camels through a loophole in the UEFA Fair Play rules by paying themselves £400 million for sponsorship of the City of Manchester Stadium. A stadium that they didn’t build. Balancing the books for the Fair play rules is one thing but if this scam is so that they can continue to pay excessive wages and buy the best players, then in my opinion this is cheating and dishonourable. Samir, I ask you, do you really want to be part of that kind of enterprise?
