FTK Rant: STFU until Aug 31st…

What is it with these Arsenal experts?, the back stabbing has been extended from the external Arsenal haters to now some of our own. Tim Payton who is a leading member of the AST should know better than to create more internal divisions in the club on his twitter feed. For those who don’t know Tim Payton, he is not shy about giving his opinion, and considers himself to be one of the official spokesmen for Arsenal Football club despite not being a formal employee of the club. It appears that as well as liking the sound of his own voice, he also has an ego the size of a planet if his televised appearances before the Parliamentary Select Committee is anything to go by. Yes Tim, we know that you set up Arsenal fanshare and that the Select Committee recommended that model for other clubs to follow, well done! Three cheers and all that, let’s give you a slap on the back, and aren’t you a jolly good fellow. But with your great fame comes responsibility, and dissing our current captain CF4 on your twitter feed is not one of them. I hate the tabloids, but I what I detest even more are the people who use the tabloid mischief to create even more divisions between Arsenal fans. You sir should know better. It is bad enough dealing with the divisive media without our own giving these scumbag papers ammunition to shoot us with.

The same goes for the fans who booed the team at the Emirates during the Emirates Cup and the media pundits labelled Arsenal watchers who are queuing up to predict the “crisis” at the club. I won’t even begin to repeat the worn headlines. Yes the Arsenal fans booed the team at the Emirates Cup, yes there is frustration about the Nasri situation, and yes the transfers are taking time to be sorted. But why do we need to score an own goal before the season has even started? At the end of last season I identified our first team coach Primorac as the cause of our problems and called for him to be replaced. But until Arsene Wenger resigns then there is no chance of that. His defiance is marked by the talking of Pat Rice into another year. With every passing week Arsene Wenger looks increasingly isolated, and it suggests to me that we could be seeing the sun setting upon his legacy at the club. I would even predict that this will be his last season at the club, because there is only so much dirt a proud man can take. The lack of transfer acitivity is almost certainly due to the uncertainty about the season’s revenues should we fail to qualify for the Champions League stages. If that happens will we continue to boo our own team? So…If we want to have Arsenal slide down the Premier League table and towards oblivion, keep booing. Just be very careful what you all wish for. My message to all you malcontents out there is Just for once STFU! we all know what the problems are at the club. Give Arsene Wenger until the end of the Transfer window and then and ONLY then judge his buys. By all means moan on the available blogs or with your mates, but  Support the club vocally until the end of the next season and then if you must, you can make your protests. Anything less before then disqualifies you all absolutely from being called Arsenal supporters.

It’s hard not to feel down as a Gooner these days mate.No new signings defensively although we were promised otherwise by AW,I also believe this will be AW’s last year.Regardless of how happy he is keeping the shareholders I believe the fans will rightly drive him out of our club.I have always backed the manager but I now feel his time is up.I would love to see how SAF would respond to being fucked about by Cesc and Nasri!

I agree with the sentiments in so much that there is frustration about the apparent lack of change at the club. But booing our own team is a line that we must not cross. If the players become demotivated, then if we think that their prospects are not very good now, then the prospects will be even worse if we give them stick at home…

As for SAF, he would never have allowed the Nasri mess to occur in the first place.

Ivan Gazidis is responsible for this and there is no hiding place. if we lose 20 million for nasri, then he should lose his job, plain and simple, either he is CEO or he is not… AW is the club manager and only the manager last time I looked.

“Just for once STFU! we all know what the problems are at the club. Give Arsene Wenger until the end of the Transfer window and then and ONLY then judge his buys. “

I can’t quite see why “supporting your club” has to mean a complete disregard for common sense. I have no idea if Wenger is telling the truth or simply spinning the fact that Nasri will stay and we are prepared to foorsake miliions of pounds in a transfer fee. That seems entirely at odds with his famously parsimonious attitude and desire for “financial fairplay”. Has it escaped your notice in your blind faith that by August 31st The Arsenal may well have bowed out of the Champions League and lost ground in the Premier League. MIGHT HAVE. But why lessen your chances by apparently dithering and haggling in the same way that Arsenal have accused Barcelona. Cologne and New York have both shown up ourt fragile defence so surely a strengthenin in that department with at least the appointment of a DEFENSIVE COACH to do the job Wenger seems unwilling or incapable of doing. If its a case of medals on the table then I have followed the arsenal since 1975 and will still follow them long after Wenger has left the scene. But your willingness to blindly accept that “it’ll all be Ok come August 31st” is naive at the very least. I hope the Club and Wenger stand by their comments and that they re-establish the Club as real challengers. But its now their turn to PROVE it. He asked us to judge him in May. Now you want that to bec extended until the end of August. When does it stop ?

That is not what i said actually, and I have criticised AW, Primorac and the Ivan Gazidis for allowing the mess that is called Nasri to occur.

As for not standing up to AW, I think that you will find that the creation of WHOAG and Kevin Whitchers editorials of the GOONER demonstrate the depth of the unhappiness within the club at the moment.

but if you agree that booing is the way to support our team, wearing the red and white, then permit me if I disagree completely. being a supporter is just that, when at the stadium.
    In good times and bad.
Booing your own team is basically supporting the opposition and is hardly likely to get the players to lift their game.

I and many others have called for change at the club, my blog if you would care to read it again never criticised your right to complain, merely I have advised you when and where to do it…

Brilliant article, if only the so called fans read this and realize not to over react. So pool spent millions and ended up losing to hull city, what does that indicate? Money and buying any player alone doesnt mean success, Wenger has been mostly brilliant with his signings, we have to give him the benefit of doubt, he has done brilliant work for us throughout and he will continue to do so, the greatness of the man will be felt when he isnt around, sadly a lot of people want that day to happen soon, cruel irony would be if we win something this season and wenger leaves.

I understand your comments, and have some sympathy for part of the tone with which they are expressed, but do you know what the final buys will be?
Gervinho’s performances have already demonstrated that AW still has what it takes in the transfer market, and whilst the transfer window does not end until August 31st, you should at least give the man time to conclude his business.
Do you what the final squad will be come September 1st? cos if you do you are a better man that I am, because you are cleraly privy to confidential info that resides in AW’s head.

They say they have a lot of money, then pay 16 mill for Cahill and 20 for Mata, sell Csec ASAP and get Benzema and manybe another midfielder, sell Nasri for his lack of respect NOW.

All arsenal fans and I mean all bood Adebayor, why are they not booing Nasri and Cesc, that is amazing, they were just a illoyal as adebayor, even adebayor would never have left for UTD. We are fed up and angry, but as you say we should keep it between us, but its just boiling you see….

Come on some of you are kidding yourselves, Wenger is not a manager of Lidl, he is manager of Arsenal Football Club, do you honestly think he does not run the entire footballing section his way after all this time, every single blade of grass is consulted with Wenger, every single net peg and white line is consulted with Wenger, so every coach, technique, and person on the playing staff is responsible to Wenger, to think he just walks in and has a glass of red whilst his coaching staff do their own thing is nonsense..Wenger had a solid unit when he joined, he built around it and turned it into an amazing outfit, but clearly he is no ferguson, he is incapable of identifying young blood and restructuring, it does not make wenger a bad man, it just makes wenger like most of us, we all have a good run and then when a weaknes is exposed it is curtains..that time has arrived ! any manager is only as good as his staff and sadly wenger is unable to identify loyal staff, it happens all over the world every day..

It isn’t really the lack of transfer activity that annoys me. I personally think that the squad we have has enough talent and ability to win lots of trophies. You can guarentee that if mourinho or ferguson was in charge of these players they would bring many trophies.

The disappointment is that the manager and the coaches don’t instill a winning attitude where they work hard for the whole game every game and they are so obviously not well coached in defence that even I can see what mistakes they are making.

Yesterday and for the past few years, most of the players look as though the game is already won 3-0 even before its started. They don’t play with any intensity or pace and it makes it easy to defend against. And then we have to rely on individual pieces of skill from one of our better players rather than winning as a team.

That we play as a team is a lie. We pass the ball alot in midfield but it never leads to anything and most of our goals come from individual skill from RvP, Nasri or Cesc. And the other and most important part of playing as a team is defending as a unit and we most certainly don’t do that.

So overall, there is no point in judging wenger at the end of the transfer window because the faults we have aren’t in the transfer market or in the quality of the players (on the whole, ok there are a few who aren’t at the same standard but they won’t be playing that much). The real issues won’t be addressed by this manager at all.

SuperRob a little bit harsh to question the work rate, you are the second best footballing team in Europe and you don’t get that reputation by not closing down winning possesion and running tirelessly off of the ball, the problem you have is that if you are deemed good enough for Arsenal you are good enough for City, Chelsea, Liverpool and United and you just won’t pay the money..simple as that, I agree you have the talent but you are weak in areas that Ferguson would address, do you think Djorou and Eboue, Bendtner and Almunia would be around for all these years under him, you have a great starting 11, but your back up is toilet and consideing 4 of your best 11 are injury prone it means you frequently play with a third of your side which is pants…the 4 I consider weak over a season in terms of injury are..RVP, CESC, TV AND WALCOTT, Fergie would have addressed it by now..fact !

OK maybe what I was trying to say was that they are lethargic when they attack and don’t play with intesity when we have posession. Rmasey and gervinho are really the only players who make committed runs that give the defenders something to think about. Also in attack we play so slowly now that we rarely score from counter attacks of even create chances from them.

I wasn’t really talking about defensive work rate which is quite good, but is wasted because of the high number of positional and individual errors that make it irrelevant how much they run around.

Other than that the only thing I would argue is that Veramelen isn’t injury prone, he just had one serious injury that they couldn’t work out what it was whihch kept him out for longer than expected. Also Belgium have a bad record of playing players who are injured or unfit. i would guess that he started more than 30 league games in his first season and that he will do the same this season.

website has been partly brillant with signings, I wouldnt call squillaci, or silvestre good signings,

what hurts the most is considering how we finished last season, Wenger should have been the first in the mkt and concluded his signings long ago, but who did the manager who won the league, it says a lot, most likely he will buy a centre back before the end of the season but my main worry is the left back position, Gibbs is not ready and will most certainly be injured as he s been for the last 2 or 3 seasons. we were exposed by poor teams in NY red bulls, cologne and boca and we still think its alright.

sorry for the continued comments but you cannot sell and allow people Vieira, Flamini, Edu, Gilberto, Petit, Parlour, leave and not replace them, last year you boys came to the lane and a group of us in the upper tier all looked at each other and said, “we are going to lose tonight ” we had Huddlestone in the midfield and in effect had weakened out team in the key area and you ran riot, as soon as Sandro got off the bench and came on, the whole stadium caught fire because we knew we had you, Jack has tremendous potential but is such a hot head he will in my opinion get more than 4 red cards this season, and apart from that you are gutless in the engine room, as an added little brucie bonus if things are being closed down in that area, you now get at arsenal with long balls because adams and bould are no more, now you have players who are crap in the air at the back, as Carrol, Kaboul, etc demonstrated, it is nearly there but it just needs that fire in the middle and a decent commanding centre half and Arsenal will win titles, all the while teams are likely to bring dicks like crouch on to win a game against you top 4 is getting more and more of a challenge each year. rant over and goodnight !

    @FTK.

I read your posts often. I don’t agree with any of them mind but I respect your opinion and it gives me perspective.

I was at the game yesterday, I didn’t boo because at that point I was long past caring but I understand why a large part of the stadium did.

You seem to be in the judge me in xxxx camp. A date in the far distant future that will never arrive. If (god forbid) he is still around next season, and (god forbid) we win nothing again, you’ll still be saying lets judge him in August. At some point you have to stand up and say enough is enough. Many fans have tried to make their voices heard. They have tried marching (which you disagreed with it), and they have boo’ed. Anyone who spends upwards of £1k on a season ticket is entitled to their opinions in my book.

Personally I think Wenger has lost the support of a lot of the fans and its to late regardless who he signs. The team will need to grow a think skin this season because the mood seems to be that every game we lose is going to be met with boos. I don’t agree with it but fans have to make their voices heard somehow and blogging isn’t the answer.

I know I don’t speak for you or many of the fans here but I spent two days at cup and didn’t hear one fan who had anything positive to say about Wenger.

No matter how much we love the Arsenal, there comes a point when you have to admit the club has become a joke under Wenger when it comes to transfer activity, and the man’s stubborn nature on squad strength. If the rumours (and i highlight rumours) are true that we missed out on Mata due to missing the deadline for an 18m payment then the dice has been cast, Gazidis must go, Wenger must be given this season only to get things right, then he must be sacked if he fails. I reckon he would sign a new CB if his multi-million pay package was at risk.

Fair enough, maybe Bendtner’s lack of consistency (or just lack period) dropped a spanner in the master plan and with the disappointing second half of Chammakh’s season going into freefall enter Gervinho. This guy looks exciting, hopefully he’ll avoid the Chamakh syndrome.

    CB, LB, Holding MF,

If Song is injured or plays indifferently we have no-one to drive play forward.
frimpong is one for the future, but we need a midfield defensive powerhoue… an Essien kind of player.
Oh wish we had Emmanuel Petit again…

    No offence taken my friend.

Wenger is too preoccupied with saving the club money instead of achieving success. We now know that in this modern era of football, you cannot do both.
You have to invest to accumulate trophies

As always a well written article. But my thinking is that the boos are not directed at the team as much as it acctually is directed at the board. I think all the fans support our players, but we have a serious problem with the board. We want things to happen, we were promised new signings this summer. So far Gervinho is the only new signing to talk about, a very good signing by the way. We have been here before, heard the talk about signings, but now it looks like we will wait until we sell Cesc before we sign other players. That is simply not good enough. I think thats why people boo at the games, its like the only way to show the frustration we all feel.

The Mata deal will be announced if Nasri refuses to sign and that will signal his departure to man Citeh.
Fabregas’s agent is due in London today from New York too finalise the deal with Barcelona.
CF4 will take a pay cut and Barca will bid £35million asa final offer.

I believe it was Tim Payton that PHW was referring to and NOT the majority of the AST cast? From what I can gather Tim Payton can be as thick as two planks.

It would seem that too many have acquired the wisdom of Solomon in the last xxxxxx years.

Note how the Graham defence that AW inherited coped in the Champions League in the early years. Nobody BUT nobody has commented on what TH14 said “The Invincibles had Martin Keown”.

As for young Kyle Bartley he must be thinking the booing was because of HIS mistake and therefore HIS fault. Sorry the boo boys are like the local pub bore – boarish!

i never usually support Gooners ranting on Talkshite radio, but perhaps now is the time. Support the palyers and have a go at the Board elsewhere.

    I certainly hope so…

    Sadly
I have broken my rule about using my blog as a personal attack upon an individual, but what annoys me about Tim Payton, is his arrogance.
He really does believe some of the nonsense he spouts and that no-one else’s point of view counts, and if you disagree with him, he hints that he will make sure that your name is mud as he has regular meeting with the executive of the club.
He took exception to one of my blogs a couple of years ago and spent the time bad mouthing me, so there is no love lost between us… As if I give a shit…lol

Does this man not realise that without the AST, he would never get to meet the likes of Stan Kroenke?
Tim Payton needs to realise that his views do not represent all of the members of the AST.
Despite having an ego the size of a planet, I am not waiting upon the titbits that he throws from his throne. I leave other blogs to brown nose his ego.

but if you state that CF4 should be disciplined when all you have is atabloid report, then you deserve the flak.

I rate Kyle Bartley very highly and think that he should become our replacement or standby for Song. He is wasted at CB

Nah, Frimpong is the understudy in that position, the guy is a beast of a kid and will probably develop in the Essien mould, he is one for the near future unfortunately he had a knee ligament injury that took him out for the whole season otherwise we would have seen him in the league but if he stays fit, will definitely get chances this season

Wer going backwards like never before, what about the latest twist that involving mata, we never paid before a deadline n now it has spiralled, only and i mean ONLY Arsenal dither and f about like no other team in the galaxy in the SO CALLED transfer market, nowm that is a joke using arsenal in the same line as transfer market. CB, CM end of or piss off, n stop churnin yet more unbelievable shit, we aint buyin it no more. So BOO like u never Booed before, maybe people will take notice and change wer we are headed.

    FTK

I personally would not boo my own team, but I understand the pure frustration, the concern and the fear of supporters.

Largely kept in the dark, mostly feel ignored and all of them feeling that they have seen the same old problems before.

The amount of times fans have seen a shortage of defensive cover, the calling for new signings, the need for a leader and master on the field. I know fans have little idea about football management but some things are becoming clear.

Fan who have faith are now loosing it as fans who are disenchanted with Arsene are having their views validated.

Booing is the only way to voice concern otherwise (fans feel) no one will listen.

Is it wrong for fans to express concern?

    @Benny
It is NOT wrong for fans ot express dissent.
it is a question of timing and occasion.

Booing is not a specialised tool, it is blunt and scatters far and wide in it’s application.

Express the dissent via the blogs and the RedAction group and what about emailing Gazidis???
This way the dissent can get through.

The Arsenal are only interested in the appearance of competing.
If they were interested in winning they’d have sorted their defence by now. They’d have sorted all their transfers by now. They’d demonstrate their intent.
Instead everything hangs on Fabregas. If the organization were serious about winning Fabregas would be incidental to their plans instead he’s the fulcrum. It’s completely backwards.
They’re not serious. It’s all gone sideways, like our passing. I’m beyond booing and almost to the point of not caring.
