Wenger searching for Fabregas and Nasri replacements

Marouane Chamakh has been speaking to L’Equipe TV about the possible departures of key Arsenal duo Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, which he believes will happen once manager Arsene Wenger indentifies some replacements.

Fabregas was widely tipped to leave the club last summer, but ended up staying, but now appears to be on his way back to boyhood club Barcelona.

Nasri, too, looks likely to seal a big-money move to Premier League rivals Manchester City, Chamakh revealed.

“I think both of them are likely leaving the club. It’s a difficult situation for the manager,” he explained.

“I don’t think it’s a matter of money for Fabregas or Samir, I think he (Wenger) is looking for their successors and he hasn’t found them. I think before letting them go he wants to find the players to replace them. That’s my opinion about the situation. The problem is the season starts this weekend, and it’s even more difficult for us.

“I think in the situation the club was in, they could have let only one leave. Especially Cesc – he wants to leave for several seasons because he’s born in Barcelona. But Samir is now in a situation where he has 1 year left on his contract, so if they don’t sell him this summer he will leave for free at the end of the season.

“Is the club ready to refuse a little bit more than €20m to keep a good player for 1 season? It’s strange – at a club like Arsenal – that he’s now with 1 year left on his contract, that the club couldn’t make him sign a new contract before.”

I'm 23-years-old and currently living in Bristol, studying to be a journalist. I've been hooked on Arsenal since I was about 10, and as much as I sometimes wish I could stop, I can't give them up. Favourite player of all time would have to be Patrick Vieira for the sheer passion with which he played the game.

    Not about money? Yeah, right!

City threw away a 2 goal lead and Clichy played a part in the decisive goal, sound familiar?

Good luck with the move nasri…

I hear that Arsenal are going to take 40 million Euros 30 million upfront 6 million on proformance and a million a year if thats the case this club has gone crazy in todays market cesc is worth £45 million plus he has 4 years left on his contract transfer list him to the highest bidder
It seems strange that wenger wont o oout and get cahill for 17 million because he thinks he is 5 million overprices but will let cesc go on the cheap its crazy

Cesc’s value may be your stated 45million but he’s done the club no favors by making it painfully clear and obvious he wants to leave so Arsenal’s bargaining position isn’t as strong as it could/should be.
I think Wenger would do better to take the money PLUS a useful player in exchange, especially at this late stage in the game. Hypothetically we could use a defender like Abidal or Maxwell but I’m sure these avenues have already been examined.
If/when the deal is done it will be good to finally have it over with. Cesc moves on to his desired club and we no longer have a player, a CAPTAIN mind you, who’s half-heartedly playing for the club.
For Nasri, just sell him and let him go where he wants to go. Whatever the reason he doesn’t like it Arsenal anymore will surely come out eventually. He’s a good player but Arsenal need COMMITTED players; these two are obviously no longer committed. Thank you for your contribution, good luck in the future (accept against us), and move on.

i don’t know why some of u are expectings a lot of signings.it’s true we need to strenghten our backline and midfield.just because the likes of man city is throwing money, that we must also do the same.i think that 2 more addition should be expected.A midfielder and a centre back.i’m most probably sure Mertesacker could be one of them
