Wenger Needs To Buy! Arsenal 0 – Liverpool 2

Arsenal’s luck went from bad to worse as Liverpool collected their first win at the Emirates when a fluke Aaron Ramsey own goal and a cool slot from Luis Suarez gave them all three points.

Liverpool certainly looked the better of the two sides, with cries from the crowd for under pressure Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to buy some players after the recent loss of captain Cesc Fabregas and the imminent departure of French international Samir Nasri who played in the game.

The visitors took the lead in extraordinary circumstances when Miqual’s clearance hit the chest of Aaron Ramsey and looped over Szezney and dropped into the net.  There was a hint of offside from Suarez who had played the ball into the box but the referee allowed the goal to stand.

As the clock turned to 90 minutes, Raul Meireles teed up Suarez to finish the job for Liverpool and condemn Arsenal to their first home defeat of the season.

After a slow start to the second half Liverpool’s Martin Kelly found himself in acres of space on the right hand side of the box and thrashed a shot which went just over the bar.

With the rain falling down the game failed to spark into life, and link up play between Nasri and Walcott failed to deliver any final product, and a few minutes later Arshavin battled for the ball which the Liverpool players believed to be a foul, before van Persie’s shot troubled Pepe Reina who had to make a save with his foot.

Frimpong then steamed in wildly on Lucas who became the second Arsenal Premier League debutant in a week to see a red card. A late and clumsy tackle that could have easily been a straight red.  Liverpool then stepped up a gear with sub Suarez and Downing both going close for the visitors, Vermaelen then added to the list of shots from distance for Arsenal.

Liverpool took the lead on 78 minutes and the game petered out before the Suarez killed the game off.

Arsenal were heavily depleted due to suspension and injuries were forced to start want away player Samir Nasri who is set to join Manchester City.

In the first half Emmanuel Frimpong set his mark out and went in hard on Charlie Adam inside a minute of the whistle; unfortunately for Liverpool the Scotsman wasted the resulting free kick. Frimpong eventually found himself in the book five minutes later when he wrongly tried to tussle the ball from Henderson after it had gone out for a throw in.

A great ball in from Stewart Downing was missed by Dirk Kuyt for Liverpool’s first real chance.  Arsenal then had a penalty appeal after Martin Kelly challenged Ramsey and Arshavin fluffed the resulting free ball.  Arsenal’s injury problems were then compounded when Koscielny‘s back went into spasm, and had to be replaced by the Spanish youngster Ignasi Miquel.

Scezney was then forced into a great save from Andy Carroll, who’s bullet header looked certain to hit the back of the net, who then had Dirk Kuyt go close from the resulting corner.  Liverpool started to have more of the play with Jordan Henderson getting a header on target and Charlie Adam tried an audacious lob from the half way line a few minutes later.

Arsenals first real opening was when Emmanuel Frimpong had a shot from 25 yards out which had Pepe Reina scrambling to make a low fingertip save, Nasri then took his lead and had a shot from a similar distance whistle just past the post.

It was certainly end to end stuff as Downing became the latest player to have a shot from distance, before Nasri finished off the first half with a wild shot that went high into the stands.

Both teams looked bright and before the sending off there wasn’t much in it, however a combination of a bit of luck and clinical finishing from Liverpool saw them go home with all the points in the bag.

Van Persie has lost it. I’m sorry, but for me he is not the world class finisher as many label him.Point blank chance on his left foot and can’t put it away.If Bendtner had blown that chance people would be going nuts.Obviously,we need better talent. If Van Persie is the best goal scorer we have, then that says it all.

I have been saying since last December that Wenger must go.  I’ve been saying all summer that he must buy!  I’ve decided that all this frustration and anger is not good for my blood pressure nor my health generally.  Therefore I am officially announcing today (approx 1 hour after the humiliating home defeat to LFC), that I am joining the AKB’s brigade.
Therefore, my moto from today will change from “In Arsense We Rust”, to “Arsene Knows Best”.  We must be patient.  It’s far too early in the season to be making judgement on le boss and the squad he has so carefully assembled.  By the end of the season, these group of teenagers will have blossomed into a lethal bunch of footballers who can pass around teams at will and score unbelievable goals (for fun!).  We shall compete for the 3 domestic competitions and the Champions League and show Fabregas (and Eboue) what they’re missing!.  Judge Arsene in May.

Ah bollocks!, who am I kidding!  What an utter joke Mr Wenger is making of himself and our beloved club- he needs to go before the damage is too deep and he drags us down to the mid-table mess we are fast becoming.  IN ARSENE WE RUST !!!!

For all Arsenal recent troubles, they played well for most of the match until the sending off. The £100 million liverpool attack was toothless. Vermallen was superb, Caroll hardly had a touch or header! Miguel is class. Ramsey unfortunately is not ready. The wingers were off form. We need another striker and midfielder, but, who? No one in the world can replave Fabergas, the nearest we have is Wilshire.
Its early days, hopefully things turn around soon.

In a team of better players Ramsey would be good enough. But when you are literally the only attacking player who can pass the ball and the only midfielder with enough discipline not to get banned, it is difficult. If he had been a bit older and had started playing when Cesc first got in the team with Gilberto, pires, ljungberg, bergkamp and Henry around him he would have done just fine. Players of his age should be helped by the experienced quality players around them but in our team he is one of the older players!

Basically, he shouldn’t even have to be playing regularly at his age and stage of development but he has become the main man in midfield without Wilshere (who himself shouldn’t be the main man)

Yes he should have scored that goal today but finishing last season 3rd top goal scorer after sitting out injured for half of it, and ending up scoring more than a goal a game is as good as Messi. If you had talked about his injury record then you would have had a point because he doesn’t sustain his level of performance for a whole season like messi does but when he is fit, his record is brilliant.

If andy carroll cost £35m and he was shit today, then we are gonna have to spend loads of money to improve on RvP and that will be money better spent on other areas of the pitch.

DB, Van Persie is the least of our problems, don’t you think?

He is still far better than most of the players in our squad!

We need major surgery in the squad as Wenger has not properly added to the squad, not just this season, but in previous years as well.

I fear we will not be in top 4 end of season!

Maybe people will say too early in season to say this, but unless Wenger brings in experienced players, then we can forget it. Only 11 days to go!! Ah well Gazidis, I’m sure we will be very active in that period of time!

Wenger has said to trust in him. I remember he said this when Vieira was sold!!

And the rest, is history. No trophies, steps backwards not forwards.

lol. we’re playing an 18 year old centre back, our right back has had to play left back and the reserve right back is a kid who was playing non league football six months ago. We now have no defensive midfielders, no attacking midfielders with any creativity and barely enough midfielders to field a team after we sold our captain for pennies compared to what he’s worth, our wingers are useless and can’t create chances and the possible replacements for them are an 18 year old from japan, an 18 year old from league 1 and a 19 year old from costa rica, and you’re complaining about Van Persie??

Dear or dear. So where all the pro Wenger people who used to infest this site last May and had these looooooong lists of all the players Wenger would buy and everything would be all right?

People like me told you the most he has ever bought is 3, that leopard doesn’t change his spots, and that Wenger still doesnt “get” the need to change. And sure enough, Wenger still hasn’t bought a real defender. Only wingers because they are more “fun.”  He is busy preparing for the 2012-13 season, with teenagers.

The sour bad luck continues doesn’t it –except it’s not really bad luck. Didn’t anyone brief Gervinho about Barton ? Doesn’t Song surely know better?  That’s a lack of discipline and that falls on Wenger just like most of this does. (see Frimpong red card today). Then Lose Koscielny as we did today and who is left to sub? A toddler. You make  your own luck or your own bad luck.

By next weekend we will be 8 points behind Man U and you can kiss the championship goodbye. At this demoralizing rate next stop will be dropping out of the top four, rather soon.

I once again challenge anyone to come up with an analysis of how anything that  has happened since last season — apart from buying ONE decent player Gervinho — suggests we can stay in the top four or win anything. An answer that isn’t just slogans and insults. Go ahead.

I wont blame the first goal except that ramsey didnt track back soon. Also i cant accept that lackadaisical approach of ramsey and frimpong(does he have any brains?).Why are we encouraging mediocrity at all levels of the club?We need a new infusion of blood at all levels and that should start with AW being sacked.

Expand Man of the Match Jose Enrique a left back! What did we have as left back? A right back! Why didn’t we buy Enrique when he made it clear he wanted to leave Newcastle? Oh! that’s right we’ve got two world class left backs, Gibbs and Traore, only they are both injured and they’re just not world class anyway.Note to Wenger…. Buy Leighton Baines.Koscielny suffers back problems and is replaced by probably the most inexperienced defender in the Premiership. We don’t need to buy a centre back because we have Squillaci, Djourou, Koscielny, Vermaelen and Miquel. Problem is the first three are injured, and the first two of those aren’t much good, and the last is a green kid.Note to Wenger…. Buy Cahill and Jagielka. With the state of the squad, as it stands, at this moment our European football for the foreseeable future will be played on Thursday evenings in the Europa cup…if there is any European football. As to our league and cup chances…Zero!

well well well, surprise suprise. I mean guys come on, did any Arsenal fan in their right mind actually believed we were gonna get a point today let alone a win. absolutely not. Now because of Arsene’s stubborness and idiotic youth policy we were humiliated by one of our top four rivals.

. Guys, I’ll let you all in on a little secret, Mr Wenger is not going to buy anyone else on this transfer window, that I am willing to bet my life on. He has completely lost the plot. There was ablsolutely no creative play, liverpool dominated possession. something Arsenal normally does to teams week in week out, unless of course it’s Barcelona.

As for the champions league, we can forget about it this year and next year.

They lied to us guys, they pulled the wall over our eyes. I remember the board promising to be busy in the transfer market this summer, little did we know they meant busy offloading our best players and bringing in a buch of spineless teenagers.

Well done arsene, am sure you will win the quadruple this year with your bloody toddlers and youth policy.

I tell you, you are more likely to get stroke and heart attack as an Arsenal fan these days.

    PATHETIC. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.

wenger will need to buy defenders thats for sure. we should have just bought them long time ago. when we knew that fabregas deal was going to happen we should have just bought the players before, and in preseason they should have been ready. i hink we really do need to spend little money not much but however if we dont spend that little money now we will be getting a big bill on our sleaves like liverpool. players hat we reuire the most is people with great vision in the midfield i think todays performans was bad as ever. if we didnt have vermalin we could have lost very badly. so i think defenders for me scott dann , cahill u know english players who know how premier league is like and they are ready for it.

    Stan Kroenke, were you watching?

Even you can see the deficiencies in the squad.

Do you want to see the clubs value and your investment slump at the same time?

It’s up to you to show some leadership, but I doubt if you have the know how to do anything.  You will just let yourself be lead by the nose and follow what the hopeless Gazidis says.

For once listen to the fans!  Listen to the press!

Instruct your management to invest some money in a defence, otherwise Arsenal are going to be a mid-table club, or worse, for the foreseeable future.

he is still playing him out wide despite the fact that he can’t dribble and he doesn’t have any vision so doesn’t create anything. His attributes are so obviously suited to playing up front. He is quite good at making runs off the ball on the shoulder of the last man, he is quick enough to run away from them (as long as he doesn’t have to take them on) and he is pretty good at finishing. Add to that the fact that he is sooooooo bad on the wing, for me its a no brainer, play him down the middle or don’t play him at all.

But of course the formation is so so so rigid with no thought of flexibilty that walcott will never play up front because he would need a support striker like RvP to play close to him.

Arsne must go out and spend this week!! I fear for the game on Wednesday. I admit that luck is not on Arsenal’s side right now but you cant just realy on all these inexperienced youngsters. I thought the pluck and spirit shown today was fantastic and the fans were right to give them an ovation. Without the red card Arsenal would surely have got a point. I thought Wojciech Szczesny was again brilliant and kept Arsenal in the game as long as he could. Man of the match again for me. Thank God we have him. You can feel him maturing by the minute with each game!!

Vermaelen was man of the match so christ knows where that decision came from, but 2 poor sides and Arsenal can think themselves lucky Suarez never started or it would have been chaos, Carroll is a bloody joke in my opinion, the guy does not move so allowed Arsenal a reasonably easy 70 minutes, Wenger will sign he admitted it himself but it won’t be the £200 million he needs, cannot see Arsenal making top 5 unless Wenger signs, 2 full backs, a centre half, a holding mid, and another forward, if that is to be any good it will be £200 million if not it will be the type of defender Q.P.R win against 1-0.
