Why we should be worried about Wenger at Arsenal

The question we all have to ask our self is “is Arsenal in crisis? In my honest opinion Arsene Wenger is delusional, he cannot see the obvious occurring at our club or can he? Does he not want to state the obvious…?

Firstly with comments suggesting Cesc Fabregas is staying at arsenal and is happy at the club to 24 hours later being confirmed as a Barcelona player, there was no reason to state such a comment in an interview, this lead to allot of fans loosing faith and belief in out club.

We all know the current situation with the wage structure and the budget he has set on spending on new players but the problem is Arsenal does not appeal to world class player, The club has turned a new leaf and is now in a real crisis, Wenger does not want the fans to turn against him so he has to hide behind he’s own words in interviews to try and convince us that we are financially in a very good position and that injuries and suspensions are the current fault in our failure.

After our lost to Liverpool over the weekend Arsene Wenger claimed we played very well until the sending off, and with 8 Players out before the match there was nothing to worry about because they will be back and everything will be ok? In these 8 players which he has stated it is very hard to believe that Squilachi, Almunia, Traore will make a difference?

We have to rely on youth Prospects being brought in for too much money to do a job for us in the current seasons, and the only attraction for them is playing football. Can we honestly see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain , Joel Campbell and Ryo Miyaichi winning us silverware this season single-handedly ? I doubt it , we could possibly reach another Carling Cup final and lose.

Losing out on players in the past was a sign of things to come, Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board have not been able to convince players such as Patrick Vieira, Gilberto Silva, Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy to stay at the club because of either Players wanting to leave for more Money , losing attraction to the Arsenal way or Wenger’s policy of not willing to give more then 1 year contracts to over 30-year-olds.

The situation with no trophies won in 6 Seasons is a massive turn off for players with ambition and the will to win to come to us , also a massive negative turn off for players at the club at their peak wanting to win winners medals, for example I cannot see our current captain Robin Van Persie – who has now hit his peak – wanting to stay with Arsenal at then end of this season if no trophies have been won, and a temptation of Real Madrid being enough for him to leave next summer .

I can see this season peaking at one point with the odd wins here and there but I can also see this season with silly defeats by losing out to lower opposition and rival teams which will only anger the fans and players involved at AFC.

To finish off my piece I would like to end with a motto which could help Arsene Wenger and Arsenal Fc out:

£Money + big name players = Team spirit which = Great Performances = Trophies = Happy Fans

Sort it out Arsene….

Same comments every season. Arsenal not top 4 team. Arsenal would be relegated. With all the buys Spurs, Liverpool etc struggle. No comments on Spurs 3.0 lose. Gervinho is a big buy and so was Arshavin. Has arshavin lived to expectation? 50mil torres and 30 mil Carol = useless and fans unhappy. Please march up against useless officiating and leave wenger alone. 18mil De Gea and 2mil Szecny. Are big names the answer ?

Agree with the comments. The fans who boo and constantly put our team down need to look at themselves and get behind our young players. Do you remember large sections of the crowd booing Flamini, then when he leaves everyone moans. The same with Song at Fulham a few years back. These are all good players who need your support. The fans adding extra pressure is not going to help.

apparently it was kroenke who told wenger he had no choice but to sell him. And it was Gazidis’ fault that we were left in such a weak postion with only one year left on his contract.

No but as a young player, with many years ahead of him, even if you don’t want the player then its better to have him under contract so that you can sell them in your own time under your own terms rather than be forced into selling them just because their contract will be up. If he had 4 years left on his contract we could have extracted more money out of City for him if we thought he wasn’t good enough so it makes sense to make sure all of your players are on long term contracts so that if they do make it then you are in the strongest position.

The reason you dont see Chelsea and United players leave is that they are already earning 150K a week so City have no appeal.  The problem we have is we can’t afford to pay those sort of wages.  The reason City attract top players is because they off top dollar.  Wayne Bridge, Craig Bellamy, Lescott, Gareth Barry, all on 90-100K a week!! Adebayor on 170K a week!! They are paying average players massive money.

Lets be clear, Arsene isnt doing anything different this season to that of the last few, he has always preferred to bring in young players and build them, than spend on over-rated players. The difference this time around is that our squad is spread thin. Its not about demeaning the players we have, theyre good players, its about our squad depth. Arsene and the board have to take this into account, whether there is a dispute over player wages or not. Nobody questions Arsene ability to manage AFC; but if we wanna seriously challenge for silverware we need back up. Look at Man U yesterday against Spurs, bringing on Giggs, Hernandez and Park when your 3-0 up?
AFC would be lucky to have 11 players still on the pitch. Disciplined tackling, greater depth in squad,a dn i woudl say 3 world class players, a CB, an attacking mdifielder and a striker to assist RVP. 2 world class players if were being tight.

    What a load of drivel.

Of the 8 players out you chose the weakest CB, last season’s 3rd choice LB and last choice keeper, maybe Wenger (like us) believe’s Wilshire, Song and even Gervinho with more prem experience behind him will make the difference and several reports in various blogs tell us Miyachi is a talent that could have a great season just like Jack’s 1st, the fact Wenger sees him training and you probably haven’t is a massive factor in your assessment of “a club in crisis”.
We’re not in crisis FFS, we’re not fully ready yet which is annoying but nothing that can’t be sorted.

Sure, we’re not as attractive as Cavski and Citeh and ManUre will/have always had the greatest appeal but on the former it’s the prospect of earning megabucks and due to financial whoring an attraction of top class players around them, THAT’s the appeal….not that we’ve neccesarily lost it, we just can’t compete at the same financial level.

When did van persie say he was leaving? Seems to me he’s happy at a club who accept he’s succeptable to injuries and the fact he takes time out to applaud the fans at matches speaks volumes of his commitment to a great club so stop tarnishing it.

I kinda agree with your comment. Arsenal are at risk losing big club image for the last few season. We didnt have an ambitious chairman, a football-savvy CEO and visionary and bold (not stubborn) manager. Instead all we have is a greed chairman, bussiness-mind CEO and was-a-great manager. They have turn arsenal to become a selling club.We at risk losing future support from future generations of fan if we still like this for the next decade or so. We should support this current squad no matter what happen, they need us. i’M A GOONER  and that’s a fact.

Utter Twaddle- why have top players gone to Liverpool (Suarez/ Torres), Man City (the entire team), Tottenham (modric/ v.d.vaart), Juventus (Krasic, Vucinic), Atletico Madrid,(Falcao, Turan) Sevilla( Navas, Fabiano), Roma (Bojan, Steklenburg), Dortmund (Subotic, Gotze)etc when all of those teams have endured much longer trophy droughts than us.

It all about money you fool- eg Falcao, one of the best strikers in the world- is on his way to Atletico, the 5th best team in Spain to replace Aguero. Does he believe they will win  La Liga or Copa Del Rey??  No I doubt it.

You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. Hardly anyone does! In truth we have no idea whether it is hte manager or the owners and board who are more to blame for the lack of success in recent years but it is obvious that the manager is easier to blame as the public face of the club.

I suspect that if we sacked Arsene and got a new manager, we would start playing more functional and less pretty football, we would be more organised and less attractive. Whether we would see more signings and more high wages is debatable because no one really knows who is refusing to spend the money. No one knows whose idea the wage structure is so there is no guarantee that with Wenger gone, we would start paying higher wages and attract better players.

It is the same if there were a change of ownership and an overhaul of the board and Arsene stayed. We don’t know if anything would change or not because we don’t know who is responsible for the goings on at Arsenal.

If I had to guess I would say that the CEO and the board are not competent and are probably responsible for more of the bad decisions than Wenger is. But that isn’t to say that Wenger is completely blameless. His failings are more in the areas of tactics, motivation, man management and organisation. I think the mistakes in the transfer market strategies and contractual structures are more likely to be the fault of bad decision making by Gazidis and Stan or simply incompetence by those who run the club day to day.

But as I say, this is all guess work, because to a large extent, we don’t know who made what decisions and who was responsible for what, behind the scenes.

Our best players generally left when they either hit 30+ (Bergkamp, Pires, Ljungberg….0 or in the case of Thierry and Paddy it was a case of moving on to successful clubs, whereas the likes of Flamini, Hleb, Anelka never had the same success as with us and some regretted leaving, his error was trusting the overpaid average players who felt they’d made it and never repaid the faith, think Denilson, Adebayor…I won’t add to that as some are still at the club and deserve the opportunity while wearing the colours to re establish the form expected of them.

Finally, someone gets it.  Money is the key here.  Nasri is perfect example.  His agent/dad/brother/uncle, whatever the f*ck he is, has been whoring Nasri’s arse around any premier league club willing to f*ck it, and they want £3Million for the privilege.  That is 15K a week for the length of the contract, just for the agent.  Give any top player the choice of 5 clubs he would like to go to.  City would not be on it.  Maybe we wouldn’t on some of them, but for pure enjoyment of playing great football and expressing yourself, we would be on there, with Barca, Madrid, Man Utd and AC/Inter Milan.

Problem is, players get aroused from bank balances and not enjoying their football nowadays.

A lot of those players weren’t top players before they went to those clubs or at least hadn’t proved themselves in a big league. Also for many of these players they are stepping up by moving eg suarez.

But in general I take your point that money is a driving factor in many cases. Just maybe these are bad examples

Wenger does not set the wage structure, or the amount of money available for transfers. He never has and never will. It is set by the owners and the board, like every other club. Wenger is old school enough that he would never publicly slag off his employer, the board, and you people are so stupid that you think that somehow Wenger writes those rules. He doesn’t. If we are unwillingly to pay players the same as other top CL teams, Milan, Barca, Madrid, United, and the Oligarch gang of Chelsea, City and recently PSG, then that is not Wengers fault. Not at all. He can recommend a payrise or a wage, but if they say no then tough bananas. We are like Spurs in this. Our owners will not pay the top level of wages and until they do, players will move on from us to those other clubs (who are all financially dodgy, but nothing much seems to be happening about it). Hence going for young players for whom an Arsenal wage is a substantial payrise.
