Arsenal given a good thrashing!

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side dominated at the Theatre of Dreams to make it three wins in three so far this season for the hosts and add further woe to the hapless Gunners

Manchester United continued their perfect start to the season with a spectacular 8-2 win over an increasingly beleaguered Arsenal at Old Trafford.A Wayne Rooney hat-trick and a brace for Ashley Young, as well as strikes for Nani and Park Ji-Sung exemplified the gulf in class between the two sides, as Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie replied with strikes worthy of mere consolation.

Sir Alex Ferguson insisted that Manchester City’s  5-1 win away to Totteham earlier on Sunday would have no affect on his team prior to kick-off but with their noisy neighbours raucous in the capital, there can be little doubt that the Scot will have expected a statement of equal intent from his charges against the league’s other north London side.

He named an unchanged side for the clash, with both Welbeck and Tom Cleverley rewarded for their fine recent performances with starting berths.

The youthful make up of the hosts was somewhat mirrored by their opponents, with Arsene Wenger giving 20-year-old Francis Coquelin his league debut, though it appeared a decision borne out of necessity, with the visitors’ squad left threadbare due to a number of recent injuries, as well as the departures of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.
The champions started accordingly and the mobility of the United front line left the Gunners’ prospects looking inauspicious within the opening 10 minutes and Welbeck’s break away from Squillaci in the seventh should have yielded more than the limp left-footed effort it produced.

Arsenal were offering promise going forward but the air of inevitability surrounding an opener for the home side was soon justified in painful fashion for Wenger, as Anderson’s fine lofted ball was allowed to bounce in the box by the Gunners’ inexperienced defence, allowing Welbeck to nod home with ease on the 22nd minute.

As the French boss watched on like a man down on his luck, his side were offered a somewhat fortuitous opportunity of getting back into the game, as Theo Walcott fell in the box under pressure from Jonny Evans. Assistant Darren Cann deemed it worthy of a penalty to the disbelief of the Northern Irishman but as Robin Van Persie saw his weak effort from the spot saved by the under-fire David De Gea, you couldn’t help but feel that the perennial nature of Arsenal’s decline was being played out with almost satirical predictability.

It was a case of it never raining but pouring for the Emirates outfit as only a minute later Young doubled the hosts’ advantage. After seizing on a poor clearance from Armand Traore, the former Aston Villa man bent a simply beautiful effort past the stretching 6ft 4in frame of Wojciech Szczesny to further exemplify his seasmless transition into his new side.

Andrey Arshavin was fortunate to escape a red card following a foul worthy of a second bookable offence on Young and the impressive Welbeck was cruelly forced off with a suspected hamstring pull but any suggestion that the tables were turning back in the favour of the visitors was quashed with the Red Devils’ third as Rooney  converted a sublime free-kick following Jenkinson’s foul on Young on the edge of the area to pick up his 150th United goal.

If any Arsenal performer deserved a reprieve it was the lively Walcott  and his early endeavour was rewarded on the stroke of half-time as he pulled a goal back for the visitors after latching onto Rosicky’s through ball to offer a semblance of respect to the scoreline.

With the visitors’ collective obituary being written over the break, they returned to prove their doubters wrong and could’ve got back into the game with a Van Persie volley shortly before the hour mark but he was once again frustrated by the young Spaniard in the United goal.

The poor defensive habits of Arsenal were proving to die hard however, and Tom Cleverley was allowed to run freely into the area to all but wrap up the game just wasted an easy chance into the arms of the grateful Szczesny.

The youngster’s sin was atoned for soon after as Rooney bent another free-kick past the helpless Pole into the opposite corner of the net from his earlier strike. The game, with over 20 minutes remaining, was up.

However, the relentless attitude of the home side was not and they made it five soon after as Nani  found space in the area following a simple pass from Rooney split open the Gunners’ back line and chipped a lovely effort home.

The Red Devils then turned the knife further, as Arsenal’s chief-tormentor in recent years, Park made it six. Van Persie grabbed a consolation soon after before a red card for Jenkinson was sent off to sum up an utterly humiliating day for Wenger and his side.

The perfect day for the Old Trafford faithful looked to have been neatly completed from the penalty spot as Rooney picked up his sixth United hat-trick following Walcott’s push on Patrice Evra.

Yet the agony for the north London side was finally confirmed in quite fantastic fashion as Young got his second his another curling wonder-strike.

The home side’s starting XI may have been younger than Arsenal’s but following a ruthless performance of such quality at Old Trafford, Ferguson’s sparkling kids proved once again that they are more than alright. Their opponents, it would seem, are anything but.

Wenger you ********* maniac you’d better resign. The relegation form continues. Anybody could do a better job than you because if we go on like that we will be relegated with some revival we can even achieve a midtable position. After this defeat no worthy player will sign a contract with us. If I meet an AKB I will punch him in the face. What the fuck do you need to be convinced? If you want to watch npower league/conference level football choose another team. I never booed anybody and I never will, but I cannot accept this petty coaching/management. Apart from the lacking quality there’s no defensive organisation (the fucking defensive coach is badly needed), no tactics and no belief.

I feel sorry for the obscene way I put what I wanted to say. Not because of you butthead. I’d be relieved to see it is not Wenger’s fault, but the board’s (something’s not right in the background for sure).

        Though sometimes I
make some very nasty comments on him out of pure frustration (love and
hate are very close), but deep in my heart I still love him. It hurts me
a lot to see him as a modern Brian Clough. And the aggressive branch of the AKBs, who hate everybody, who has a different opinion are not gooners. They only love Arsene or maybe only themselves. They lack any ambition and talk crap. I hate and detest them for their stupidity and superiority complex. They also detest everybody and call everybody a “new” supporter and refer them to support the spuds/Brighton. If you feel for them I feel sorry for you.

This is very sad, man…8-2 thrashing. Where do we go from here? I want to write more but the mood is depressing enough to quit. I remember watching Arsenal’s previous loss to Man Utd, what was it? 6-1? And now this?

Simply, what positives can we take from here? Anyone wants to add?

I’m qutting after 38 years of supporting Arsenal. Still, please allow me to say this one last time: Thank you for the memories.

Good on ya, mate. You have my respect then. But on that subject, I’m sure a third of United’s supporters worldwide are fashion supporters anyway. Can’t pick and choose, just welcome them all.

Seems a bit unfair to us fans that while we remain fiercely loyal, it’s the players that’s making shit load of cash, that’s screwing us up. For them it’s a job, for us it’s ,,, like faith. It’s like going to church every Sunday and then realizing the preacher have been banging the altar boys. We feel betrayed.

Don’t get me wrong here. I would like nothing more than to see Arsenal get back to the top 4. Hell, you deserve it more than Citeh.

So come on Arsenal, go spend the cash on some real quality, for heaven’s sake. The real money is not made on transfers, it’s made from winning trophies. I mean I too hate the Glazers but at least they don’t mess with the football.

Should get some Arab with serious oil money buy over Arsenal and kick out your stingy Board.

Sorry, didn’t mean to rub it in. Just felt sad to see you implode like that. The whole world could see what the problem is, except your stingy board and stubborn Arsene. Truthfully, Arsenal didn’t really deserve even a point today but more importantly your fans didn’t deserve the humiliation of 8 goals. I’d wish it on Citeh, but never on Arsenal. You guys got too much class to deserve that.

So please fix this quick because the summit is just not as exiting without Arsenal.

the reason we were whoped is because every year we sell our best players and bring in kids, if fabregas and nasri and vermaelen were playing we would have more than matched, did you forget last year when we beat man united and nasri scored the 2 goals, thats why fergie was desperate for nasri, he knows how good nasri is, fab set him up with 1 of the goals, a player like fabregas dominated the midfield, if vermaelen played he would have organised the back line better, the truth is we havent replaced these players, we have the money wenger would rather bring in young boys, our squad is very weak and lacking experience and leaders, have you heard the saying.

In perspective. Our team was young and inexperienced. We were missing  6 first team players to injury or supension. We did have a player sent off before the last two goals. Man U are the champions.

Now, in reality. Man Us team was young and in experienced. Man u were missing players through injury, may be not as many, but still.

Having just listened to Wengers interview on sky sports i am sure he has a regualr list of excusses written down on a card in his pocket and he justs picks a couple before he comes on camera. We had players injured, we were tired, dont need to buy players when we have players coming back from injury, blah blah blah blah blah. I really dont expect hi to come out and just say ‘oh we were shit’ but….

He really does have to look at the qaulity of the squad and think is it good enough? he has said all along that the squad is good enough but i dont think so. This team surely is better than wigan or swansea or qpr first team right? i’m pretty sure that they wont go to old trafford and get beat like that. Shameful. really shameful.

Really lost for words… ‘Embarrassing’ springs to mind. Really can’t believe I’ve just witnessed such a gulf in class. I know we’ve got players out but surely that just highlights the fact that the squad is just not strong enough. We need quality players desparately… Top quality players. In many positions. Three days to go. Will it happen? We’ll get players… of the quality needed, time will tell…

Something has to be done. Look where we are in the league. The side looks so down and lacking in confidence. This is a downward spiral… a marquee signing could change this!

      • Angelo1971

And when I say 5-6 that’s the very minimum. Realistically we need 1 right back (Jenkinson is too inexperienced), 2 left backs (Gibbs is shit), 2 central defenders (Djourou and Squilacci are crap), minimum 2 midfielders and a proper striker instead of Chamakh/Bendtner. That’s minimum 8 players if we want to compete for any title.

A agree with you in many respects although feel some of your judgements are a little harsh. Jenkinson and Gibbs are good young players and I feel would make adequate BACKUPS. The problem is that such players are getting lent on too much. In Sagna and Jenkinson I think we’ve got decent cover RB, we do need a top LB though with Gibbs as cover. Squilacci has never impressed me and I really don’t know what has happened with Djourou- such a promising player has gone right down-hill! So at least ONE CB is a must. In midfield we are so lacking in creativity and need to replace Cesc and Nasri with AT LEAST ONE quality creative midfielder. Also a top top No9 is a must but with three days to go I cannot see it happening though…

You’re perspective is also good. I have faith in Jenkinson. A defensive coach and experienced partners could help him. Gibb is a Clichy light. Also he’s always injured. Even as a backup I feel uneasy. His real potential could be summed up by a defensive coach and a proper medical team. I’m shocked for Djourou. He was one of my heroes last season, even if he faded fast at the end of the season.

Things have got to change, this defeat is an utter disgrace of unquantifiable dimension. As am writing this, am hurting badly. this is a very painful humiliation.

This defeat will scar the memories of so many gooners across the nation for some time, and make no mistakes about it, man united fans will never let us forget it. we have to make amends as a club and redeem ourselves.

We were promised by the board at the back end of last season that they would be busy in the summer’s transfer window, little did we know what they meant was offloading our best players and replacing them with complete mediocrity.

I am starting to think Nasri had a very good point.

Question, what do we as fans of the club really want?
    1) Finish fourth and trophyless every season. (CL Quarter final, FA CUP, QF)

    OR
    2) Have a team as good as the invincibles and win trophies.

if it’s the latter, we have to put enormous pressure on the board and the manager to make changes and fast.

Am sick of wenger’s youth project, tightness, Policy of players over 30, pay structure, his philosophy, infact the whole fucking nine yards.

The football of ten years ago is not the same as the football of today. this is something wneger has failed to realise. things have changed and Arsenal are not adapting well with this change.

We can forget about champions league football next season guys. the top four is beyond Arsenal now.

I hope all the in Wenger we trust goons finally wake up. Are you all happy now? How are you feeling? Thanks to your dumb blind “keep the faith” this has been allowed to go on for three years too long.

The bungling mismanagement by Wenger and the Arsenal bureaucrats continues. It’s taken 3 solid years of mistakes and stubbornness to get us here. The anatomy of disaster is a series of small mistakes over time that add up to a plane crash. So We have been talkin about and the defense and
Signing defenders for at least four years and nothing has changed. Unbeleivable. He never signs proven talent, and always lowballing bids.

And we still dont have a world class goalkeeper, much as we would like to believe we do. The entire physio dept needs to be fired as our injuries are beyond all reason.

Now Wenger is just bringing shame on the club. No world class player will want to play for us, only money grubbers or second string.

This is I hope rock bottom. Wenger has to go please tell me someone over there has the vision, the balls to get it done and move on.

Many of us predicted this in May because there was no sign from Webger that that the need for big changes and particularly to spend money.

When you see Nasri play for City the way he did this morning you know the skill was there yesterday when he was a Gunner but the team spirit and desire isn’t there……so it just tells me that internally we have issues we need to fix and if it means a new manager then someone step up and take the decision. I have been a supporter since 1989 and no fairweather one but  10 years without silverware is hard to take.

How has it got to this. ?
Wenger needs to be forced out of this club.
The board needs to have 90 minutes of verbal abuse thrown at their direction for every home game.
Infact, … what good will this do ?
    None,

I don’t belive that AW is fully responsible for this mess, however he should be held to account for this this performance !!!
In regards to the Board, well i am absolutely lost as to its conduct in terms of  leadership or guidance, since departure of Dein, and introduction of Kroenke.
This board is very confused as to where the club is heading on the field, however there are people involved who have ability to reduce debts for the new premises!!!!
But surely the time has come for them to realise that an absolute takeover and investment is way forward, either Kroenke or Usmanov have to reach agreement and bring back Dein into this board, as there has never been better negotiator or a person in the club’s history than him with his contacts in the industry!!!
Sadly, there is too much animosity within the board towards him, as Lady Nina too found out.
But she made a fundamental error of selling her stake to wrong party !!!
So the drame continues and we poor fans suffer and keep being humiliated  further !!!!!

Its a really bad result, however this match came too soon in the season and with all the uncertainties with the players leaving and then trying to find  the replacements within such short space of time !! Let alone the players having time to settle.
But yes, this is really not an excuse for couple of very poor season without any consideration to serious investment in the squad, as the funds should be there from the sale of Players over past two years and they have not really been spent as yet !!!
So one really needs to ask questions from the Board and then from AW as to the reason for this lack of investment and remaining competative in this league, as this season’s Champions League spot is definately under threat from likes of every tom, dick & harry above our present position !!!!!

If the Board truly feel the greatest manager in the history of Arsenal Football Club (my opinion) is still the future then they need to support him and make it public, if they do not then they need to step in and appease the fans and do the unthinkable, but either way they are showing themselves to be the reason behind this mess by doing neither, if this is the non existent public image they portray then what the hell is Wenger really dealing with..at least with Levy it is out in the open good or bad, at the moment the marble halls of highbury are a distant past from a once well run club , the silence is deafening !

Furthermore I see no reason why Arsenal should be any different, I am fairly confident when I say the vast majority of the real hardcore Arsenal fans like at Spurs don’t even attend home games any more , they have been forced out of the game that we all loved, so to answer your earlier question the real fans are not in the ground, they are in the pubs and getting to the odd away game, and if we stop and think about it we all know several characters who fit this mould perfectly..football is in the main funded by a new breed but the rafters and the foundations were built on the money of the true fans who watched the rubbish when it was not fashionable to follow Arsenal it was a necessity.
It is a classic case in North London right now of stepping back allowing the new breed to ruin the game and then the very people who got it to where the game is now will save it again ! and I for one cannot wait for that day..they say Arsenal has no soul, that is because it is up and down the Holloway road behind thousands of front doors unable to get to the games anymore !

I actually felt sorry for him.

The board are demanding 1 man to challenge for the title  and champions league against the worlds richest clubs with pathetic financial backing.
          Its a disgrace.
Wenger has his faults, like anyone, but having just watched that interview, this man will die giving his best to please us supporters.

Our anger should not be directed at Wenger but at the board.

If wenger had the resources and backing to buy and pay for Eden hazard, Juan Mata, Aguero, then he would,

He is being asked to do an impossible job, and this season it has caught up. He is failing.
But I have changed my tune.
Wenger has not failed me, or the supporters in my opinion,
He is being failed and hung out to dry by this cancer of a board at Arsenal.

For most of last year, up until the Carling Cup capitulation, the team, the supporters, the media and the manager all had belief.  Belief that Arsenal were close to the top, close to winning something, a club to be counted amongst England’s (and Europe’s) elite.  We were a model to all the free spending, mortgage the future clubs with billionaire owners.  We stubbornly flaunted our youth project and fiscally responsible wage structure, while quietly raising ticket prices.

I cannot imagine that we have fallen to this state.  We have lost all belief.  With the exception of the manager, who has been known to be a poor motivator, how can we get the team and the supporters back into believing in this team.

We lost our stars before because we could not convince them that we have what it takes to compete.  Sure, some may have left anyway for their own reasons, be it money or home, but we should have at least been able to lay forth an argument for staying.

Today’s result is this years Carling Cup disaster. While many may think that this is early days and all, but no number of last minute signings can really affect the dark mood the team is muddled in now.  When next we play top level opposition, this humiliating capitulation will be replaying itself in the minds of the players. They will be fretful and fearful of another collapse.  Consider the leaders of this team who had any fire in their belly today.  Outside of RVP and Walcott, I did not see any strong characters at all.  I want to see our players getting mad and riled up, getting in the United players faces, showing some fire and emotion.  I understand that bad days happen, but I did not see alot of hope on the pitch today.

And while Arsenal has been going backwards this summer, painful as it is to see players who could have made a difference for us, like Mata, go to our direct rivals, Chelsea, MC, MU and Pool have ALL strengthened.  Some considerably at our expense.

For this season, I am further lowering my expectations,  I am writing it off now to a 7th year of no trophy.  I am just praying for a top four finish, and will consider that a job done.  Arsenal is not keeping pace with our rivals, make no mistake.  Yes, we have a sensible wage structure and we do not pay over the top for any player.  On the other hand, other top teams who do not play by our own shackles will forever have the competitive advantage over us.  I look at our rivals benches and they have more quality and experience than today’s starting eleven.

We may kid ourselves that a few miracle signings may be all the doctor is ordering, but it is too llittle too late when just now Arsene is confirming our striker signing, who I will hold judgement on, and STILL says we are just looking for a midfielder and defender.

For F**Ks sake, it is just 72 hours till close of window!!!!  Can’t we have identified our signees by now?  What kind of a lame ass statement is that?  If an 8-2 hiding does not loosen the transfer kitty strings, what would?  Sure, a signing will not fix everything but it will offer a sign of hope that Arsenal still has some ambition.

The professor has officially lost the plot people…

Well said and very reasoned. This is the result of mismanagent over several seasons by Ivan, Wenger and the club as a whole.

I agree this could kill whats left of the fragile confidence and lead to further decline and continuationof our relegation form. Wenger has proved he cannot get us out of this slump and that’s one of the things we pay him 6 million quid for, motivating.

You sound like a lunatic AKB. Glory hunters? Who’s talking about trophies? We are talking about the faster and faster decline and the possible survival of our club. Get realistic. I hardly met anybody saying he would quit supporting the club, but tell us how to put the board/Wenger under real pressure to change if you go to the stadium every time? Protests? These bastards (remember Hill-Wood’s words) don’t give a shit about us. They will only understand the message of half empty stadiums. Still it’s not the best solution. If you don’t see we are at a crossroad and the need for change then you’re dumb and maybe you should support Brighton. If the engine is bad in a BMW they change it, otherwise it’s just a beautiful piece of scrap metal. The team today was like a 3rd division team trying to show they can play football…My heart sank when the line up was shown on TV and was praying that these kids man up and show what prestige means to wear an ARSENAL shirt. But off course these pampered fellas are not made of the metal needed to win games in the EPL. Frankly, I fear relegation, if we play this way with all the injuries.

The board and Mr. Wenger should politely hand over the reigns to more competent people and move on. GOD BLESS ARSENAL!!!!

I think it’s time for Arsenal Supporters to unite

Wenger is The Best Coach in football but a not the best Manager
I’d hate to admit but fergie wins that one

Arsenal’s main problem is Ivan Gazidis and the money hungry
Board , when I say we should unite as supporters

We must do everything in our power to brung David dein
Back and to make sure he has the end say
Even if it means boycotting the games and getting
The full backing of AST to show our displeasure
At the way the club is getting run
Social media is incredibly powerful and we should
Use it to get to the board….,

Wenger is too blame for not buying Cahill in Jan
We could of had a cup of some sort buy he pinned
All of 2010′s hopes on the fitness of TV which
Was ludicrous and Nasri would still be at the club and we wouldn’t
Of had to play 3 important games in 8 days with a depleted squad

After today’s result it made me question If moving to the emirates
    Was worth today’s humiliation ….?
And BBDD bring back David Dein movement has to start!!

I agree with you but something needs to be changed at our club plus if were really honest with ourselves we have seen this coming, but not to the magnitude we experienced today. Dein coming back is a must, thats why the board wanted him to go he was the only fighting on our behalf.

Firstly I think all us gooners should applaud the travelling support today, they were absolutely top notch. I am personally still on the fence on whether wenger needs to go. Is it simply Wenger taking the heat for the board from fans and media OR has he unfortunately become a musician/band that had been great in there heyday, but has been unable to progress with the times.

This is not 1998 where you could find quality middle aged players (24/25) for cheap without another club taking notice. As i guess most of us heard wengers interview before the Udinesse game saying how it would be difficult to question his previeous accomplishments in the transfer market. We havent won nothing in 6 years a period, in which Wenger has bought in more horse shit than the Ascot, coincidence? maybe.

During this transfer period we have been given ample time and a number of oppurtunities to bring in ESTABLISHED and EXPERIENCED (Im not talking dinosaurs) talent to the club. Lets see we have had the chance to bring in jose enrique, alvarez, jagelka, cahill, parker and a hoast of others. Instead Wenger has relied and persisted on the likes of diaby, denilson djoruru, bendtner, senderos, eboue, almuni, fabianski, arshavin, traore, squallaci, chamakh etc. If u ever wanted a team of premier league fuck ups then look no further. This above all has pissed off many of us, Wengers ignorance and inability to see what every one else sees. I still believe in Wenger, to a degree, in his philosophy. But his failed youth experiment did not work admit it and find an alternative solution. I dont know mix in some old in with some of the new and maybe just maybe we will have a fighting chance in some form of success.

Wenger after the game said something to the extent of in this country after you loose a game the solution is to buy play players. If you get beat 8-2, I think universally the advice would be to go out and buy players, something is really wrong if you feel the contrary.

Mr Wenger youre ratio in finidning gems from other leagues to brinning in dead meat is detiroating, deterioating fast. You are becoming a parody of your self and we have become the laughing stock of the league to utd fans having empathy for us. What other football club would have lost a final to a relegated team?

If you thought barcas 5-0 thrashing of madrid was bad, todays result will send shockwaves across Europe of a humiliating defeat, which will most definitely have a subsequent impact upon the appeal of the club and have had tarnished the clubs legacy. Todays result only confirms cescs and nasris reasons to leave the club and judging by this seasons performacnces. It shouldnt of been a difficult choice to make.

Know letes bring in Cahill and Baines, as Everton are in a bit of financal mess, to the delight of wenger and the boards ears they should be able to negotiate a reasonable price for him. A centre forward (maybe darren bent) and midfielder it would be a tremendous for everyone at the club. Dont worry I am not delusional and know this will not happen but the point being we need massive improvements. Plus the verdicts are still out on the players that wenger has bought in.

P.s apologies for the bad grammar and spelling, I have resorted to have taken my frustration out on the keyboard.

Guys and Gals, I think turning on ourselves is missing the point….. i blame Chelski for starting this mess. Billionaire owner, pumping hundreds of millions into clubs to buy success and the same is happening with Man City. Chelsea and Man City have ruined English football, and is a shame that these clubs wont go down in the same way as leeds under a mountain of debt.

Not that I like stoke fans, but on their blogs they have been talking about the Man City effect since they lost the cup final……

We should vent more of our frustrations at the duopoly that is the Premier League.. (Man City and Chelsea)

Lets wait and see what happens in the transfer market, if we don’t sign 3 top quality players then we all need to protest, i agree with most that it’s not wenger fault. Wenger is protecting the board and is taking all the flack for these greedy ba£££ards. Wenger has been a good manager for Arsenal, you don’t become a  bad manager overnight, he has achieved things when we had David Dein as our chairman, why because Dein is an Arsenal supporter and made the board spend……..Arsenal need to review their wage structure and pay the going rate for top players. 90k a week does not get you the like’s of Kaka, Hazard, Mata, Nari, Cesc, if you want the best you have to pay the going rates, unfortuantly. this is why Arsenal won’t  buy proven qulity players.

you can blame other club spending for arsenals weak team and unbalance in many country’s leagues but if the shoe was in the other foot you wouldn’t say this.

I think arsene wenger is using the resources at hand and has achieved alot in the early reign at the club and because of this fans want this but he is working within boundaries do you think arsene cant see that arsenals squad compared to others lack experience and lack defensive qualities.

ITS EASY to blame him and say you want him out and want a new manager but do you know any other manager who could stay in the top four of the premier league and get to champions league consistently with arsenals spending constraints.

BUT with the money from clichy, faberagas, nasri arsene should have no reason not to buy an experienced 20-29 (3 centre back/central defensive midfielder) jagielka/cahill/mertasacker etc           & a strong forward (1 striker) carew, abonglahor, podoloski, bellamy etc especially bellamy
