Now Wenger set for £25m bid to bring M’Vila to Arsenal

Arsene Wenger is closing in on £8million Germany defender Per Mertesacker and has completed a £6.2m deal for Brazil left-back Andre dos Santos — and there are reportedly more signings on the way.

At least Mertesacker is a Gooner. Back ion 2004 he said: “Since I was small I was an Arsenal fan. When I first went to England, I immediately got a couple of Arsenal jerseys.”

Hours after new striker Chu Young-Park has described his move as a ‘dream’ after completing his £3m switch from Monaco, rumours abound of new recruits at the Emirates as the witching hour approaches. The transfer window shuts at 11pm and it is set to be a busy day for AW as he tries desperately to lure players after the disastrous day at OT.

One claim is that Arsenal are preparing to break their transfer record with a £25m bid for French international Yann M’Vila, the 21-year-old Rennes holding midfielder. Apparently, a £22m bid has been rejected already.

And the Mirror suggests that AW made an enquiry to Everton yesterday to see whether they could prise either Mikel Arteta or Marouane Fellaini away from Goodison Park, knowing the Merseyside club are cash strapped.

It is also reported that AW has always had Eden Hazard at the top of his list and the Belgian forward has told Lille he wants to quit, but the French club want more than £30m.

Another claim is that we have made a £12m offer for winger Marvin Martin from Sochaux.

The Sun says AW would like Blackburn’s Christopher Samba alongside Mertesacker, though not at the £16m quoted. And Chelsea pair Alex and Florent Malouda are on the wanted list as well.

I don’t think we need M’villa at all. We have Song, Frimpong and Coquelin all for the defensive destroyer role, and I thought Coquelin was the sole bright light at Old Truffle on Sunday, notable how it didn’t fully turn into a rout until he was subbed. Creative MF playmaker is where we desperately need a face, we’ll never replace Cesc but we need a couple of other options in there. Maybe another CB given how shockingly momentous Djourous’ regression seems.

I say get M`Vila and Gourcuff with Vermaelen and mertesacker our spine will be strong again with Gervinho and walcott on the wings….

If we get M`Villa, Jack will take Cesc role. Marwin Martin would be a great addition as well. It can be some exiting hours until midnight.

M’Villa is an awesome DM. Our Frimpong is inexperienced but promising and Song is good but could be better. M’Villa is also a playmaker. There truly isn’t a better likeness to Vieira than M’Villa and the player’s age means he’s going to become better (if that’s possible considering M’Villa is already so good.

Two playmakers for me; one to play in the middle and one on the wings. I would still go for Cahill and hope to do a further clearout by January of Diaby, Squillaci etc.  Loan deals on some of our young squad so they can gain valuable premiership experience. YMVilla would have cost us just over 10M last year, his dithering is what is our loss today.

I think that we will come to look back fondly on the traumatic eight goal drubbing, by the Manchester Unmentionables, as the point at which Wenger at last realised that his youth project had run into the buffers.

We will probably never know if the present spending spree was his own idea or whether he was prompted by Silent Stan.  Whatever the truth turns out to be we must be thankful that the percieved stubborness has been overcome.

Without, so far, spending stellar amounts of money Wenger has managed to reinforce in the areas so obviously lacking in class.

I beleive we still haven’t found a replacement for the Spaniard, althouigh Jack Wilshire could soon grow into the role.  The greedy Frenchman, who departed for the nouveau riche, Man.City will not be so greatly missed as at first thought.

My glass his over half full!

I would not call it a “spending spree” and the greedy Frenchman will be missed, he was MOM against Spurs.

In terms of previous transfer windows Wenger is spending like a drunken sailor.   As to N***i, exactly when was that match against Spurs?  In all honesty he didn’t have such a marvelous time last season and, in most peoples opinion, that was his best season at Arsenal.  He’s gone!  Get over it and move on, the club will.

Wenger is bullshit….why waiting for so long to sign players? our team already collapse  and he is doing nothing,,,three players are not enough sign six including two play makers( Hazard+Kaka), one holding M(M-villa), one more striker (Tevez), CB(Samba) and a shooting winger Samatta from Tanzania, he is a great player…. i dont wat the rules says but Samatta  is more like A. Young…he could help us filling the Nasri’s gap

Man what is wrong with you? The old man started spending. We have a few acceptable new players on the way. I wanted him to spend, but with your spending spree we would even outdo Mancity. It would be much more than a 100 mill? Tevez doesn’t even want to stay in Europe. Do we need another (extremely expensive) homesick player after Fab? No!!! Get real. Constructive criticism is welcome, but with your spending we would go bankrupt in a few seasons.

Yeah, hearing this kinds of news rejuvenate my spirit to argue for my team against any club fan. As we all know that Arsenal team talk is a concern to everybody because of weak start. Great Gooners, Great Fans.

I think if M’villa comes then we will see a change of style. We will go back to the powerhouse midfield with Ramsey and Wilshere performing the Bobby/Freddie roles. Or am I dreaming?

We all knew weeks ago it would be 31st August before we signed anyone, but I’m still waiting for the 1 marquee signing that will get me excited.  I want a similar sort of feeling to when we signed Cambpell or Reyes.  Hazard would do very nicely.
Signing Benayoun would put me in a state of shock, but for all the wrong reasons.
