Wilshere: I’ll miss three months of Arsenal action

Jack Wilshere will be sidelined for up to two months due to his ankle injury. Wilshere has just tweeted: “I can confirm I will be out for around 2-3 months! I am working hard in the gym to stay fit and I am gutted but I will be back stronger!”

Both Sky Sports and the Beeb had been reporting that Arsenal have confiemd the Sunday Mirror story this morning that the 19-year-old will be out for a lengthy spell. Then JW himself took to Twitter to bring us the news.

But only last night Wilshere told Ian Wright on his Absolute Radio show that he had a “slight injury”. Very confusing.

Wilshere has missed the start of the new season for Arsenal and is said to be currently wearing a surgical boot to protect the injury and it seems he will not be in action until November.

Arsenal are refusing to rush Wilshere back (something that he confirmed to Wright) as they do not want him to suffer any relapse. It is reported that Wilshere is not expected to return to light training until next month and it is unlikely he will be able to be available for Arsene Wenger until November at the earliest.

Perhaps this explains AW’s recruitment policy on the last day of the transfer deadline.

Re-run of Vermaelen case, isn’t it? First, it’s nothing, then it’s serious, then he’ll be back in training next week, then he’s out until Xmas at least, and then…? What is going on with Arsenal’s medical staff?

Oh my God this is bad news, now i’m really really worried for us.
I still feel very sad and heart broken about Cesc and Nasri leaving and also very sad to see our beloved Arsene suffering so much in the last few weeks. He does not deserve this.

That’s very bad news. Let’s hope that his injury will open the door for another player to step up the way he did when filling in for Ramsey. Coquelin had very good season on loan last season and Frimpong looks like he may also have that ability. I think we’ll be okay and to have a fresh, determined Wilshere come back when fixtures are beginning to pile up will be a huge bonus.

We’ll have to wait and see if our players make it through the second game of the international break unscathed before we find that out. I do like the look of Park, I think he’ll do the job if we lose Van Persie for his usual half season.

He is due to become a dad in the next few days so this could be more to do with the fact his mind will be on other things and he is hardly likely to be focussed on football, than a serious injury.

They might have just given him some time off.
