Our Season Starts Tomorrow…

Arsenal Wenger promised us an “active” summer transfer window. And boy, he stuck to his word!

Although at times, it appeared that the number of players coming in was going to be limited, Arsene kept his promise and captured a number of quality players, in the last few moments of the summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker, Yossi Benayoun, Park Chu-Young and Andre Santos have all been unveiled in the famous red and white shirt and could all feature in tomorrow’s home tie against Premier League new boys Swansea City.

Park Chu-Young has been included in the squad, but remains doubtful, as the club are still waiting on the formalities of his visa. 18-year old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to come in as a replacement for Park, if it can’t be sorted in time.

However, the other new signings are all fit and perfectly eligible and could all be given their Arsenal debuts against The Swans, who play their first ever game at The Emirates tomorrow.

Arsenal have had a very poor start to the season, picking up just 1 point from 3 games. Clearly, the Manchester United match was a clear and total embarrassment. But when bad things happen, you have to remain optimistic and work for solutions, as quickly as possible.

Fortunately, the club had an opportunity to invest in new players – and they did, successfully.

I still can’t forget the loss at Old Trafford – I don’t think I ever will – but when you are on the end of bad results, you must pick yourself up, move on and make sure that it never happens again. We improved our squad swiftly and efficiently, and bar a few injuries, our squad is set for the season ahead.

After such a miserable start to the Premier League campaign, in terms of results, as well as the‘ outs’, it’s odd to say that I’m feeling very excited about the next few weeks – especially as I watch a club who possesses such a great level of ambition, but have failed to win a single game after 3 league matches.

But now, with more-than-a-few players coming into the squad, most of which will feature tomorrow afternoon, I’m just raring to go now.

I still don’t think we’ll push for the title. I don’t think many Gooners can argue that, and mean it. But at the end of the day, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t aim to do so.

We need to pick up as many points as we can from now on, starting with a win tomorrow. Pleasingly, our squad has been finalised, after a progressive summer of many comings and goings.

The Arsenal fans, as well as the players, are all set now. We’re ready to go.
