Arsenal starlet Oxo Kid has cold-eyed killer instinct

The blonde bint on Sky News sports round-up keeps banging on about the attendance last night. Just seen the papers and they are happy to highlight this too. Especially the Sun. Yes, there were 15,000 or so empty seat but that means 46,000-odd full ones. For a Carling Cup game against Shrewsbury that ain’t bad. They brought 5,000 or so humourless divs (‘sacked in the morning’ – my how we laughed), for the record.

I was not only impressed with the turn-out but the level of vociferous support for the team and the manager. These games when anyone can rock up and get in means we have followers attending with genuine affection for the club as opposed to our often-cynical season ticket holders.

Oxo Kid looked bright as a button and, dare I say it, he already looks to have more about him than our other wonder buy from Southampton Theo. A tad harsh but what I mean is AOC appeared to have the look of a killer in his eyes. I am not sure Theo has the belief he should have given his talent. AOC does have a certain swagger. His goal proved that.

To put the crowd in persepctive we had more watch us than Blackburn (7,104), Wolves (7,749) and Stoke (15,023) put together. And our gate last night will be bigger than any crowd for any other London team’s home game this season.

Meanwhile, for some AW quotes post-game have a read of the Telegraph match report.

Elsewhere, there is some interesting boardroom tittle-tattle in the Mail.

Memo to Johan Djourou: nice bloke and all that but give up football.

Eldo mate, a refreshing read and happily you confirm what I have thought for a long time, that persisting with Johan Djourou as a centre back option is a joke and confirms the bankrupt transfer strategy of the club at the moment. What ever he is being paid is too much and he should PAY US for the risk of putting him in an Arsenal shirt. My final comment is that Senderos was better than him.

Theo Walcott has to up his game because on Oxo’s performance, I would put him ahead of Theo in every game from now on, from one simple comparison, which is Oxo goes around his marker/oppo, whereas Theo just runs into his.

I am am even doubting Theo’s worth as a central striker, because he will only rely on the ball either over the top, or passed beyond the defending cover defender. having said that, I cannot get his amazing run against Liverpool all those seasons ago when Thierry Henry like against the scum, he dribbled past five players and ended with a wonderful assist to I think Adebayor, it was the Champions league I think, my memory fails me at this precise second.

Finally the Board will have had a glimpse of next season, should we drop out of the top four. An Emirates 2/3 full looks frightening and suggests failure despite having an attendance equal or superior to the full capacity of Aston Villa, Liverpool, Everton, Bolton, Fulham, West Brom, Wigan, Stoke City, Wolves and of course the scum.
So they will be happy to tough it out. Pity

on another note the news that Silent Stan is coming to address a “select” group of fans is utter cowardice by the “owner”
I am not becoming anti-Kroenke and hopes that he sells to Usmanov, because the status quo is a living hell.

Shhhhhhhh …when will you learn ? Oxo is rubbish rubbish rubbish…what happens in ‘The Emirates’ must remain in the Emirates..otherwise old red nose and the long haired spag bol muncher will be pounding on the door for ever more.
When you have a player of clear talent you must not highlight the fact in this day n age…I must concur that Bendtner is a bloody good player ..wink wink.

I agree with your report and the fans. I went last night and it was amazing. Everyone started singing their heart out after we conceded the goal. But as you mentioned Djourou should just give up football. Someone behind me said ” He is a disaster waiting to happen” haha i had to laugh. I dont remember Senderos being as bad as Djourou. What happened to him?

AOC was great last night but dont you forget Coquelin he bossed that Midfield big time.

Djourou has no confidence (like most of our team) and the apparent lack of defensive coaching turns good individuals into a poor defensive unit.

Saying that though, the goal yesterday was an individual mistake.

Hi, good post, and a very good point about the type of fans that attended last night. maybe one of the bright points to come out the impending doom will be that a lot of the moaning season ticket holders will clear off and leave space for the sort of people that turned up last night and genuinely supported their team. we’re in for a torrid couple of years i think so positive fans are paramount.

Coquelin was brilliant last night too, worked like a dog, again, just what we need right now

Another point that I thought should be made is that chamakh actually looked a much better player when he is not playing as a lone striker. This would also suit RvP. From now on I would go for a front 6 of Song and Arteta in CM, Gervinho RM, Arshavin/Rosicky/Benayoun LM, Rvp and chamakh up front.

However despite all the observations from last nights game, we have to remember that it was a league 2 side that we were playing against so for example, I wouldn’t expect AOC to be playing much in the league at the moment. I do agree that he is probably already better than walcott though. But I would also guess that given a chance Miyaichi would be better than walcott as well.
