Agony for Arsenal as Wilshere needs ankle op

It doesn’t rain but it pours! Jack Wilshere will be out of action for Arsenal until possibly next year as his ankle injury has not responded to treatment. He will have an op on Monday.

He told followers of his Twitter account: “The bone is not responding. I will have surgery on my right ankle on Monday. Hopefully I will return to action around Christmas time. I am in good hands! Thanks for your support everyone!”

Arsenal released a statement on .com: “Wilshere has recently been wearing a protective boot aimed at allowing a stress fracture of the ankle time to heal naturally and avoid surgery.

“However, scans this week have revealed that the fracture has not responded positively during this period. Throughout Jack’s injury, the club has been guided by the continuous advice of several world-renowned specialists. The information attained this week has led to the conclusion that surgery is now required to gain an optimal response.

“Wilshere is now expected to be out for a period of months. Following surgery these timescales will become more specific.” Wilshere picked up the injury in the Gunners’ pre-season friendly against New York Red Bulls on 31 July and it was expected to rule him out for a short period.

Until now! Jeez. Us. H. Christ.

BTW, still have three pairs of tickets and a single for the Bolton game if anyone is still looking…accpet offers.

I fear for this kid as his honeymoon period is now over and we all know he has a volatile temper, I think he may have to get used to being on the treatment table as he becomes a target for all and sundry to have a kick at, if he has a few medical issues it may end up costing him months, I hope not he is clearly a great young player and is much needed for England.

Mayve if he had told them about the pain when he actually got the injury they would have been able to do something about it.

the players have a responsibility to help the medical staff as well. If a player has pain somewhere they have to tell the medical staff otherwise how can they treat a possible injury?

Anyway, as predicted, we’ll be without jack until December at the earlist and January/ February till he starts performing.
