Curse of crocked leaves Wilshere out for five months

How’s your luck? Jack Wilshere will be sidelined for up to five months after an op to fix a fracture to his right ankle. Another Arsenal player out injured for a lengthy period. Isn’t it time we drafted in some sort of witch doctor to treat our players or perhaps try to lift the curse of the crocked?

Wilshere told Twitter: ‘Had my operation and all went well! I am feeling good will spend the night in hospital to monitor me but apart from that I am happy!’

Wilshere joins TV5 on the crocked list. And Theo. Or is he fit again after the injury in the Bolton game? Oh, yes, and Yossi Benayoun is also out. Diaby is another absentee – so not all bad then. Who next? Still, at least “world-renowned surgeons” operated on Jack the lad, according to .com. That’s a comfort.

Has AW backed our medics like Fergie did his when confronted with claims that Owen Hargreaves was misdiagnosed at Old Trafford? Not sure he has.

Here’s one to make you choke on your boiled eggs this morning. One report doing the rounds suggests AW may look to bolster his strikeforce with a surprise £1m bid for Manchester United striker Michael Owen in January. Er, so no then.

The Owen story is as likely to be true as the report on Talksport that we are fighting Paris St Germain for the signature of Kaka.

This isn’t bad luck. It is the result of Wilshere being over-played last year because Wenger did not buy a quality midfielder to supplement Fabregas. It is the same reason as Fabregas left. It is because Wenger is more interested in his pet project than the welfare of his players. Imagine if Wenger had spent even 15/20 million last year on a midfielder, a central defender and a keeper. (Arteta 10, Mertesacker 7, Schwarzer 3). They would have won the Carling Cup. Might have won the premiership. And Fabregas might have stayed another 2 or 3 seasons, and Nasri would have stayed too. Stopping blaming luck for Wenger’s bad judgement.
