Now Szczesny’s Crocked

The injury-curse blighting Arsenal’s season struck again on Monday when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny pulled out of the Poland squad for two upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Belarus with a bad back.

Szczesny, 21, who has played six time for Poland, was due to meet up with his international team mates this week but the official Polish FA website (www.pzpn.pl) said in a statement that coach Franciszek Smuda had called up Genk goalkeeper Grzegorz Sandomierski as his replacement.

Szczesny, 21, was in the Arsenal team beaten 2-1 by arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on Sunday, coming in for some criticism for conceding Tottenham’s 73rd minute winner when he allowed Kyle Walker’s long-range shot to elude his grasp.

Szczesny will now join his Arsenal team mates Laurent Koscielny, Thomas Vermaelen, Johan Djourou, Abou Diaby andJack Wilshere on the sidelines as well as Bacary Sagna who suffered a broken leg against Spurs on Sunday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping that all but Wilshere and Sagna, who face five and three months out respectively, will be back for Arsenal’s next League match at home to Sunderland in two weeks’ time.

Poland, who co-host Euro 2012 with Ukraine next summer, have qualified automatically for the finals and are travelling to South Korea for a friendly on Friday before an away match in Belarus on Oct. 11.

Attacking midfielder Ludovic Obraniak of Lille is also out of the squad with an injury and has been replaced by Janusz Gol of Legia Warsaw.

Hopefully he’s just putting his Arsenal career before his Poland career and will be back for the next league game.

God knows we need him. First mistake of the season that has cost a goal against spurs (and personally I think it was a minor mistake). Also there were so many defensive mistakes leading up to it it was ridiculous.

Again he made 3 or 4 really good saves that probably would have been goals if we had fabianski, mannone or almunia in goal. So he’s definitely needed.

1.)Agree regarding the mistake. He’s 1 of the few players I really like. 2.)Where does it all stop? Wenger please go. No tactics, no defence and no medical team. Are you really so stupid to destroy everything you built? I’m so annoyed because of this “medical” team. I would not even let them touch a pet/plant, not mentioning a human being.

Oh, dear. No sagna which leaves Jenkinson or, even more worryingly, Djourou at right back. Then there’s Diaby to come back and Chamack up front when RVP gets injured. Let’s face it, the only time Diaby should be allowed on the Emirates pitch is if he’s riding a lawnmower. Chamack should only be allowed in the changing room if he’s got a broom in his hand and the only way DJourou should be allowed near the stadium is if he’s selling programs outside!!!
How much worse can this season get?

Well the Szczesny situation just made it worse.

As for the “mistake” did you see how much that ball dipped in the last 10 feet or so, what a goal.

I don’t think Szczesny will miss any Arsenal games so that will be fine.

Diaby coming back might actually be a good thing and is something to look forward too, which just further demonstrates how bad our squad is.

It’s not surprising that Szcezcny has a bad back, it’s probably caused by the number of times he has to bend to pick the ball out of the back of the net.
