Wilshere has no plans to leave

Jack Wilshere has no intention of becoming the next high-profile departure at Arsenal and has described the club as his ‘perfect home’.

The Gunners endured a difficult summer transfer window, with Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy heading for pastures new.

Fabregas returned to his Catalan roots with Barcelona, while Nasri and Clichy accepted the riches on offer at ambitiousManchester City.

With Arsenal having stumbled out of the blocks on the back of those sales, it has been suggested that the club are in danger of being further asset stripped.

Robin van Persie, Andrey Arshavin, Alex Song, Theo Walcott and Wilshere have all been the subject of transfer gossip since the season got underway.

Wilshere cannot speak for anyone else, but he insists that he is going nowhere, with the penning of a five-year contract back in November 2010 underlining his full commitment to the cause.

He told the Evening Standard: “No disrespect to Manchester City but Arsenal is the perfect home for me right now.

“Some players have got their price but, to be honest, that’s not the way I look at the game.

Jack WilshereQuotes of the week

“All I think about is playing at the highest level and in the top competitions so I can measure myself against the best in the world.

“I really am happy at Arsenal at the minute. Obviously, I want to win things and I want to do it with Arsenal.”

Wilshere accepts that a six-year wait for a trophy is not good enough for a side like Arsenal, but he believes the criticism that has started to be levelled at Arsene Wenger is unfair given all that he has done for the club.

He said: “We do get a harder time from the critics than most teams but we haven’t won anything for six years and that’s not good enough for Arsenal.

“It is harsh, though, especially on the boss.

“He has been there for 15 years and been great for Arsenal. The criticism Arsene gets is just a joke.

“We started a bit slowly but we still feel we can finish in the top four.”

By then we may have a new wealthier owner offering to pay him more but the way it’s going I’m starting to get more than a little bit p*ssed off with the way the game is going, it was bad enough when ManUre was the only English/British club able to pay extra and attract via it’s prestige but even they miss out on some of the best now and with PSG, Madrid, Farca also attracting the rest there’s never been such a gulf.

Arsenal can afford to pay him 100k a week and they should do.

Hopefully Jack will be different. He’s been playing for us since he was 9 ffs. If he turns out to have no loyalty and leaves for money then I will have no respect left for anyone in football.

    Salary cap anyone?
