Wenger: We won’t lose Van Persie…and Nasri left for money, not trophies

Arsene Wenger reckons players don’t leave Arsenal for Manchester City to win honours – but, surprise, surprise, for the huge wages. And the manager says he doesn’t think RVP will leave the Emirates. “I don’t think we will lose Robin,” he said.

Wenger has been speaking on French radio tonight and we are indebted to Vince, the president of the Arsenal supporters club France, for the translation on his Twitter feed (@ASCFR).

Arsenal have sold Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure and that other twonk to City in the past year or two and AW says it is the massive money they can earn rather than the chance of silverware that is the attraction.

Vince quotes AW as saying: “We’re coming back slowly. We’re not too far from 4th place but the first place is out of reach at the moment.”

He adds: “A player who has a choice with 2 clubs with same ambition, they’ll go for the Club who pay more… If the players leave it’s not linked with titles, players don’t go to Man City for titles, they go for money.”

Wenger cites the departure of Cesc and Nasri as well as the injury to JW as reasons for our horrible start. He added: “People forget we had to build a new midfield after losing Nasri, Cesc & Wilshere who was very important and who will come back on January.”

On the summer of turmoil, he revealed: “I had half of the dressing room who wanted to leave this summer, there was an Asian Tour, etc … what saved us is this Club is very solid.

“It’s been 14 years we’re in Champion’s League and 14 years we’re not in deficit. I’m used to work a lot, I must have been lazy in a previous life, and Ive been punished.”

On the CL game in France on Wednesay night against OM, he said: “Marseille is a team which is able to play at better level in special circumstances (CL). Because they’ve got very good players …”

Is he really going to use that Asian tour as an excuse this season??  And what does he mean ‘saved us’.  We’re in crisis, we’ve yet to be saved!!

And what does he mean ‘people forget’ about Fab, Nasri going and Wilshire injured.  We’re all only to well aware and it’s gone on and on about all the time.

He talks more and more nonsense the longer he goes on…

Wilshire only got in because Ramsey got injured, now Wenger is reliant on him as a key player! he is a kid, come on Arsene. The goalkeeper got in by default but is looking good……but he is only 21 for christ sake!

Just Van Persie upfront, how long will he last without injury?

Wenger will get a battering at the shareholders meeting. What about tight fisted stan?

Ivan Gazidis doesnt have to write his June 2012 speach, he will just play the 2011 recording!

      See you in June Folks!

The reason he talks about the Asia tour disrupting plans is because it did. Arsenal for the last 10 years always did pre-season tour in quite Austria to concentrate on football and to promote their players.

Where as this year the board got involved and realized we could earn more money doing pre season in Malaysia to get more asian supporters. Wenger was not happy with this and he tried to fight the board against this. Alas, taking up some very important weeks of the pre season…

It is for this reason he mentions it, because he is subtly trying to hit out at the board for screwing him around. Which is true. $$$$$$$ = Football these days apparently :(

You idiot, we won trophies before Wenger and we will after. We were the biggest club in the world Under Herbert Chapman in the Twenties and Thirties, winning the league 3 years running multiple FA cups. Also Dont forget we won a lot of trophies under George Graham in the 80′s and 90′s including 2 league championships, FA cup, League cup twice and the European cup winners cup. But then again plastic muggy fans we dont need so why dont you just fuck off to Man city, knob.

Not to mention the 1971 double under Bertie Mee.

Too many fans seem to think that football only started with the inception of The Premier League.

Yes all the top clubs will be employing Wenger, like Real Madrid & they will give him £200 million to spend & Six years to get it right! Your in a dream world. Like George Graham, Wenger time as come.

Where Graham took £300,000 in a brown paper envelope, Wenger is getting £21 million for three years!

I agree they are attracted by the hideous money but the one little thing Wenger is neglecting to say is that City are top of the table and humping everyone each week..so in all fairness he is talking “Bo**ocks”

Getting to the top of The Premiership is easy if you can spend three years and an obscene amount of money doing it. Chelsea and Man. City are the living proof that financial doping will eventually ruin football altogether.

The latest attack is already on it’s way, Overseas owners are looking to end promotion and relegation in The Premiership as a way of safeguarding their investment.

The next step will be to ditch the smaller clubs and create a closed shop European league.

Either of the above scenarios will be enough for me to say stuff the lot of them and quit watching football completely.

Agree entirely and to be honest JIN I am nearly there already, talking about Football is better than watching it these days.ha ha
We all sit down and watch the games and most of them bore me to tears, I simply cannot watch Chelsea and England any longer they are 2 of the worst, all this knocking it across the back in 5 different directions before committing to a ball in midfield bores me to tears and Liverpool are no better either.

I really would like to see some pace injected into the game, the problem is that coaches stifle talent by insisting on bewildering combinations, What’s the difference between 4.4.1.1 and 4.4.2 or 4.3.2.1 or 1.2.3.4 for that matter.  The players, some of which aren’t the sharpest knives in the box, are so intent on not “losing their shape” that they just pass the ball to the nearest team-mate while the whole lot of them try to work out where they should be standing.

I loved watching Arsenal when real pace was king,  Seaman, throw out to Wiltord, Wiltord steams down the right wing and crosses into the penalty area, Henry, who has sprinted from box to box, smashes the ball into the net.  Eleven seconds!  Eleven seconds from Seaman to goal.  That’s what I want to see.  Not twenty seven passes and a failed attempt to walk the ball into the net.

Jin spot on. I watched on saturday as we kept possession and wondered if this was part of the master tactic, i.e. if we have the ball they can’t score…and yeah I know they did but you know what I mean, problem is it’s boring as hell watching the ball progressively move well into the oppo half then s they press us it goes all the way back to Per and Kos and start again, in fact those two passed the ball between each other 5 or 6 times until the attackers dropped back probably out of boredom and we moved the ball outwards again.

I noticed some time ago that gone are the “pretty triangles” and one touch passes, THAT was how we got past defenses, the only time we take one touches now is when heading the ball out of a situation when often the ball could be taken down and controlled then passed.
