Super Sub Van Persie Takes Arsenal To Another Victory

Robin van Persie came off the bench to score twice for Arsenal in their 3-1 win over Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.

Gervinho scored his first goal in front of his home crowd to put the Gunners ahead midway through the first half, only for the Potters to reply through Peter Crouch’s close-range effort a few minutes later.

Van Persie started the match on the bench, but came on with 67 minutes played and pounced to net two goals that sealed all three points for the Gunners.

The win was Arsenal’s third on the spin and it lifted them back into the top half of the table above Stoke, who continued their run of losing the match immediately following each of their Europa League group games.

no mate, I can see why you are upbeat but in order to catch us you need to assess where we drop our points, we have played United, City, Liverpool, Newcastle and Arsenal, and when you lose to Chelsea next week we go 6 points clear with a game in hand, you are doing well but not good enough to win 4 games that we slip up in..you won’t beat any top 3 team so you are really relying on us to lose 4 games now against poor teams..wont happen will it !

Ooh! Tempting fate aren’t we? Not too long ago we were able to beat the top teams but struggled against the perceived inferior teams, I’ve been out most of the day but caught a bit of Rednapp’s interview and by that felt he was relieved at the end, also injuries strike when you least suspect them to.

It’ll be an interesting season that I grant you but I think you know me by now, never say never, I have faith in this team and the manager, he may not be the force he once was but neither is he a spent force yet.

All good banter and never personal or abusive mate, it will be a great season for both sets of fans because for the first time in bloody decades you secretly fear us and that is quality, as for injuries tell me about it, we have Dawson, King, Gallas, Huddlestone, and Lennon just back, but we can handle that Berg10 and to be fair you wouldn’t mind, Dawson, right now would you so onwards and upwards for the elite of nth london !…league table don’t lie and neither do the derby games ..loving the banter..keep RVP safe won’t you mate…he is ARSENAL !..hee hee….:-)

ps we were clinging on for our 3 points up there and Samba was causing all sorts of problems, (now who could have signed him I wonder) but unlike you we got the 3 points and came home happy

Yeah agreed no malice whatsoever. This is the most succesfull spud team I can recall for some time but I think we’ll have a big say in the top four  at the end, seriously.

On Dawson he looks solid on some occasions I’ve seen him but no better than Kos, in fact  he’s been imense lately and as I’ve already said mertesacker may need a bit of time to settle, defenders don’t appear to hit the ground running like strikers coming into the EPL, they’re also scrutinised more, when a defender drops one  and especially if a goal results from it it’s judged and remembered long after a striker losing possession or missing the target.

Letting Van der Vaart slip through our fingers may turn out costly, RvP wanted him to join us but it didn’t happen and you’re relying on him similarly to us with van the man.

I would’ve liked Samba but we have Mert now and he’s improving each game, you’ll see.

  • Are we a One Man Team?

I thought it was a good performance today, Gervinho is a match winner and RVP what can I say….. Still look very vulnerable on set plays however. The team is starting to gel, but again did you see the Man U result, down to 10 men but still 1 – 6 at home??

We just need to take it one game at a time….. Well done boys praise when praise is due!!!!!

Let’s hope for a special performance next week….

    Arsenal for Life….

With all the chatter about an eventually comfortable win against the potty potters, can no-one spare a word of condolence for Sir Alec Ferguson and his team.  Thrashed 6-1 by his noisy neighbours.
    Thrashed 6-1.
    6-1.

Have you ever seen a team, a supposedly top team, fall apart quite as badly because they had a player sent off.  Where has the character gone?  Where has the fighting spirit gone?  At least Chelsea gave it a go after losing two players, they didn’t just give up.

    Crisis at Old Trafford!
Ferguson to be sacked in the morning!
Ancelloti ready to take the helm!

Oh how I laughed while I watched United implode!

      Spot on JiN.

Many knockers at our own club will say 6-1 is not as bad as 8-2, I beg to differ, they were both at OT.

      What a shambles!!

Ah yes, of course, they drubbed you at your place by 5-1, ours is at Eastlands in December so yes it will be tough, the real comparison will be at the Ems.

City are a collection of individuals they are not yet a great team, they may well become one in time, slapping down the spuds 5-1 and beating a poor ten-man United 6-1 are a pointer but the “team” ethos is fragile, waiting only for the next Ballotelli blow-up or Tevez style sit-in.  Let’s wait and see what happens when they come under pressure.

Arsenal are starting to gel and confidence is building, by the time we visit Ea£tland£ there will be little between the clubs, certainly not Spurs!

If you go to Stamford Bridge and get 3 points I will then keep my promise of admitting you are back on track, but you have beaten absolute toilet in the last few weeks and it was hardly convincing, the only half decent test you had you failed, it escapes me where that was I can’t remember, quite why you think you will be above the leagues form team is beyond me, unbeaten since August and you are well behind us come Monday morning, 6 points and a game more to be precise, dream on ! …as Mr Wyatt said in yesterdays paper “Arsenal are an average side without Van Persie”  let’s hope he stays injury free or you will nose dive quicker than a clip from aircrash investigation.

Bigsy, you say we have beaten “absolute toilet”…. I’m sure I recall you saying we were unlucky against you (we were anyway) and although you had a good win against L’pool the rest of your wins have been, Shamrock Rovers, Hearts, Wolves Wigan, Rubin and Blackburn….hardly massive scalps Ha Ha :-

As for getting 3 points at the cowshed that may be premature as we’re getting back on track slowly but surely and not many teams go there and get a win, a draw would be progress but of course we’ll take a win.

Wyatt is a tosser whose opinion means sweet FA to me, I used to read the crap served up by these self proclaimed media experts believing their analysis was based on fact but it’s pure garbage aimed at selling newspapers (which I stopped buying many years ago).
