Tasty Rambo’s Arsenal role is one to relish

Welcome to Arsenal FC 2011 – home of the £9.90 burger. That’s what is cost me to fill my face at half-time yesterday as the glorious Gunners crusied to a 3-0 win over West Brom. Admittedly, I was in Club Level. Admittedly, it was a gourmet version with a few chips and a smattering of salad and relish. But a tenner for a burger? Anyway, yes I am a moaning git and yes there are more important issues to discuss than me having to dig deep to expand my waistband (where did I put my snakebelt?).

Great to see RVP continue his fine form in front of goal and special to see the Verminator score, while Mikel Arteta’s* goal was a peach, too. But the stand-out moment for me was Rambo’s pass to Theo (I use nicknames and first names but be assured I know none of the players personally – although I did CLAIM TO FAME ALERT meet Theo’s Dad Don once).

I have been unsure about Rambo since his leg-break and have often voiced by concerns about his state of mind since Shawcross snapped him in two but that ball which led to our first goal was superb. Put you in mind of a certain impish Spaniard now doing the business for Barcelona? More power to you, Rambo. Our midfield cognition is to be admired.

At the back it was TV5′s turn alongside Kos with Per Man the German having a rest on the bench. Options in central defence. Whatever next? Santos continues to be an enigma but I think he will become a cult hero in time. And fair play to Jenko for a steady display at right back.

Reserved a muffled chuckle especially fot the deluded WBA fans who sung about our lack of troubling the pot polish for a good few years. And you have won what, exactly my little boingers?

So now we enter a period where, if we were at sea, we could call the doldrums. That awful two weeks or so when the Arsenal aren’t in action and we all mope around waiting for the merest snippet of news of 0ur team, players, manager and cost of the food (stop it).

International periods don’t bother me anymore as I long ago gave up giving a fig about England. Obviously, there is a certain nervousness going into the games because we can do without any more injures. Moving on.

Let me close with an AW line post-match on RVP: “When I was a kid, I remember players used to have three categories: national class, international class and world class. Perhaps only five players, maybe 10, were world class. The only thing we know about Robin is that he’s world class.”

*Heard a decent ditty about Mik yesterday…

‘Follow, follow, follow, the Arsenal’s the team to follow…

And no-one is better than Mikel Arteta, he’s the best looking Spaniard I know…’

Thanks Eldo for bringing up a subject we can all get our teeth into during the International boring break, Food!  Particularly the food on offer at the Emirates.

Going back a long, long time I used to get a cup of tea and a cheese roll from a stall on the corner of Gillespie Road, in sight of the station, I can’t remember what I paid but it was peanuts compared to the cost of your burger.

It’s time that rip-off catering was boycotted, take a sandwich and a flask of coffee, well laced with the spirit of your choice, it’s surprising what a rosy half time glow this can give you, if enough people did it, and ostentatiously consumed the home- made snack in their seats, maybe the powers that be might take notice and adjust their prices accordingly.  A further benefit would be the absence of acres of empty seats before and after half-time.

Rambo’s pass was a delight, but I felt he looked a bit jaded, especially in the second half, perhaps a break would be a good idea, after all he’s only just returning from the horrific injury caused by the assault by Shawcross.  A bit of rotation would be a good idea, either Rosicky, if fit, or better still Benayoun could start.

Altogether yesterday’s performance was highly satisfactory, three points, a clean sheet and no injuries.  As the music man said, Movin’ on up!!!

Arsenal football club don’t set the prices of the food and drink. Its a private company (i forget the name) who do the catering.

I didn’t say they did, the phrase “powers that be” is the giveaway.

Regardless of who sets the prices AFC take a share of the profits so of course they influence the pricing policy.

I know, I was pointing people in the direction of the “powers that be”.

The club are still guilty, they should have the balls to oversee prices, yet again it looks like the contractual aspects of the club are being shodily masterminded no doubt by a Gazidis flunky, there again no doubt they take a percentage.

No matter who sets the prices, the consumer is the boss.     Don;t buy burgers at any price.    Wait then until you see how long it is before prices fall – not long I think.     So come on Arsenal fans boycott the catering until we stop being ripped off.

Scandalous it really is but in fairness and sorry Eldo but you have to question the reams of idiots around the country who pay the prices these days, even if I was a multi millionaire I would have to question a piece of bread with a few onions in it costing £9.90 ..in fact I agree with JIN it is time to boycott food in grounds full stop..but in truth I am only a poor little yiddo and stand at the back of the shelf….up the bagels with a nice wedge of hot salt beef..Shalom !

Delaware North Companies North UK  is the culprit.  Tony Keohane, General Manager, Emirates Stadium boasts of his achievments, the last time I checked this company who have the contract until 2025, if memory serves me right.  From the adverts for staff at Wembley Stadium at hourly rates that are a disgrace.

Bigsy your club still reeks of Tottenham Marshes.

Villa, West Brom, Bolton, Stoke and Sunderland, in our run up to Christmas tells me them Marshes will be well above you by Mince Pie time..in fairness Notoverthehill it is Chelsea who will miss out they really will, you now have a fairly easy run of fixtures with only Man City proving a test..in all fairness we should both keep our momentum going but Chelsea now play Liverpool, Wolves, Newcastle, Man City , I can see them dropping points now ..we already have a game in hand on them and you lot look back to being a threat again…genuinely fancy us both to shove Chelsea out of it this season…if they come to us at lose the week before christmas which is likely given the hiding you gave them and their continued poor form as at Blackburn, they will be out of it by Christmas..never been so confident, hate us or despise us you have to respect our home form and our form this term and Chelsea miss out…..all together now for JT ” little donkey little donkey had a heavy load ” ha ha

You are undoubtedly on a good run and malice aside here but are the reports correct that Walton missed a penalty yesterday that may have changed the outcome of the derby? I read Walker slid in, handled the ball and at that point Fulham would have been back in it if they had converted the penalty instaed they had no option but to go all out and conceded a 3rd?

Had a gander at your website, looks like you’ve been tucking into the Emirates burgers Ha Ha!!

Seriously though I agree that Cheslki will drop out of the top 4 and confident we will oust Liverpool too so it could be Manchester and North London for the top 4 slots (if you can stick the pace lol)

          Berg10,

Stone cold certainty, not only did Walker handle the ball on the ground, but he then grabbed it.

A real let off, for our very own noisy neighbours, as at that point Fulham were well on top and Tottenham were tottering.

I see that Fan the Fart has opened his gob again today, this time he thinks his team will have to play better if they want to challenge for the title, can’t argue with that!!

I watched Adebayor yesterday, there is certainly evidence that he has improved since his departure from the Home of Football, mind you, he is still absolute crap.

            Jammy b*stards then JiN?

On AdebayWhore, I confess to watching a small part of the game and reluctantly have to agree it looks like reality has kicked in with him, possibly the near death encounter has convinced him he is a human after all and not the god he thought he was, still only good for the spuds anyway and not good enough for the “rip roaring reds” Ha Ha.

Most blatant handball this season. Ref also then missed blatant foul by Scott Parker straight after which should have been given. Spurs rode their luck yesterday big style. Fulham cold have scored 4 or 5 in the second half.
