Wilshere: Why I’ll be an Arsenal player for life

Jack Wilshere reckons he will stay with the Arsenal for life because he is in love with the rip-roaring Reds. Not sure if you’ve seen this interview he did at the weekend but in it he is pretty adamant that he is a Gunner for the remainder of his playing days. A bold statement from the Boy Wonder but refreshing given the amount of transfer speculation we have to put up with.

The chat was with iFilm London, in which, asked if he will stay at the club forever, he said: “I promise that, yeah. I’ve been at the club since I was nine and learned to love it. From the Vieira days, to Bergkamp, Fabregas, I’ve watched them come through and move on. There’s a crop of new players, Ramsey, myself, Kieran Gibbs – hopefully we can really create something special. I love the club and I want to be part of its future.”

Meanwhile, Wilshere revealed his frustration at the injury setback which has kept him sidelined. He added: “It’s going really slow at the minute and obviously I’m really frustrated. I should be back in training by mid-December, then I can crack on and it’s up to the boss when he picks me.

“It’s massively frustrating, especially after last year when we were so close to winning a trophy. We beat Barcelona at home and everything seemed to be going well and it ended sadly. I was looking forward to this season, I really thought we could push on and do something. To get a setback is massively frustrating but I’ll be back in December and hopefully we can push on from then.”

As long as we stay competive I think he will stay. Future captain for sure and the best English player we have produced since Paul Gascoigne.

there is every reason to suspect he might end up like Gascoigne, he already has the off field court cases and drunken stupidity, let’s hope he knuckles down now this little one is here and shows a much more mature attitude on the pitch when he returns, because he is yet another in a long line of genius hot heads that we have who could rule the world and end up falling short, I hope he really has had a good think in the last few months..very talented kid !

He won’t end up like Gascoigne. Gazza was never at a big enough club to suit his stature. That is why he went off the rails.

Nothing better than building your team around a home grown player. Man u did it with scholes, Liverpool with Gerrard. The 3 teams in England with the most class.

You are confusing the cups and my use of the word ‘class’. Then again you clearly don’t know what class means as you think Ian wright was world class.

Many a player has given the impression they are a club through and through, I do tend to believe Jack might be but give it another few years and when he goes on England duty and red noses boys or the other oil rich manc outfit have England players littered everywhere telling him how nice it is to earn 200k a week he might have a ‘Sol Campbell’ style rethink…it happens especially if Arsenal continue to be a million miles behind Man City.

Any kid suddenly handed the amount of money he gets is likely to go off the rails, indeed any kid at all is likely to do it.  At Arsenal though he has people with sound professional sense all around him.  He seems to be an intelligent young man who can see clearly the possible future that lies ahead as well as the pitfalls awaiting him.

With Wengers’ guidance hopefully he can steer clear of the temptations and mature into the kind of sportsman we can all be proud of.
