Cesc: Why Arsenal can’t afford to let RVP quit

Coughing and spluttering into my cornflakes this morning as I peruse the papers for snippets of news about God’s Own. Reason for my sibilation? A certain Cesc Fabregas holding court with the Press boys on all things RVP after the England-Spain game.

But in fairness once you get past the shock-horror-RVP-must-quit-Gunners headlines, our former skipper seems to simply be being honest.

The quotes have emerged today and go something like this: ”I don’t know if they will keep him. It is his decision. At his age, if he wants to move it will be his last chance and if he wants to stay he will stay and retire at Arsenal.”

The Sun and Mail point out that RVP has just 18 months left on his current deal with the club and Cesc says we can’t let him go. He added: “We will see what he decides but he’s been very loyal to Arsenal for a few years. He is a key player, the fans love him.

“He is the role model of Arsenal, the star player and they cannot afford to lose him. He is having an amazing season. Hopefully he will be fit for the whole season. Unfortunately when I was there, he never enjoyed a whole season without injury.”

Meanwhile, the papers carry a story saying Lukasz Fabianski may go out on loan to help his chances of getting to Euro 2012 with Poland. Manuel Almunia has already spent time on loan at West Ham and asked if he could do the same, Fabianski  said: “Yes, maybe.I had a chat with the boss a few days ago and it was quite an intensive one.

“It was me who asked to speak although we will have a few more chats.I want my situation to be resolved in the nearest future because I want to play at Euro 2012.I hope Wenger will understand me and we find a solution. I want to play for Arsenal but if not, I will have to go somewhere else, even if it is on loan.”

    I think Cesc Fabregas should mind his business. Arsenal fans have not forgotten that he is the club captain that part funded his own transfer. That is not a conduct heroes are associated with.

      I read the headline earlier but as Eldo pointed out when you read Cesc’s actual transcript it’s nothing like the headline, just a bunch of miscief making growlers seeking publicity.

    Fabregas is just shit stirring ! it is of no business of his what so ever and 90% of players would have just said no comment, he seemed to enjoy having the entire Barcelona squad commenting on his own career, and was hardly fuming over the Barca shirt being pulled over his head, he should keep out of it !  nothing to do with him at all, but yes I do think it is obvious RVP deserves a crack at a decent club because right now I would sooner have him at Barca than Villa, in many ways you are now in a lose lose situation, some very big clubs with huge wage offers will be waiting to see if RVP can go a season without injury and then they will steam in, so you lose, if he gets injured top 4 is unlikely so you lose !..not a nice position to be in at all, but a beauty if you are RVP which is why he is waiting ! to prove he is no injury prone nearly man..

      RvP IS at a decent club and he knows he is injury prone and maybe he also knows that at another club his welfare may not get the priority it gats at AFC. Things aren’t always crystal .

    Spain’s defeat at the hands of a depleted England side can be put down simply to the failure of one player.  The homesick Spaniard, (I still refuse to use his name), the two chances that he squandered at the end of the game were entirely typical of him, it is only now that we can see the motive behind Arsene Wenger’s brilliant tactics in selling him to Barcelona.  £35 million for a bench sitter, Priceless!  well not quite priceless but you know what I mean.

    I suspect that the comments about van Persie’s future were merely a way of deflecting questions about his own profligacy in front of goal.

    Bigsy,

    I know you love shit stirring but you should really get a longer spoon to do it with, as the shit stirred is likely to splash back into your own face.  You really can’t stand the thought that Arsenal, having had a poor start to the season, are now steaming up the league and by the end of the campaign will be in their normal position as regards the Spurs, namely comfortably above them.

    Enjoy your short-lived triumphalism, I can assure you it will be short-lived and that your beloved team will sink back into yet another decade of mediocrity.

    Right I’m off out to do the shopping, accompanied of course by my Spurs supporting wife,

    Enjoy your day everybody and you Bigsy.

        Here are some stats for you bigsy, nice and simple.
         Number of seasons in the last 15 Spurs have outspent Arsenal = 10.

        Average transfer spend per season over last 8 seasons
         Spurs = 14m quid (net spend of 113m)
         Arsenal = -3m quid (total of 24m profit)

         Number of 60,000 seater state-of-the-art stadiums built
         Spurs = 0
         Arsenal = 1

         Number of seasons Spurs have been above Arsenal in the league in the last 15 years = 0

         Your team have spent more than United on transfers and won nothing, they’re the biggest under-achievers in our league over the last 15 years.

      get a grip either identify the humour and damn right sarcasm in my posts or ignore them and don’t comment, when I want to be serious I am, as it happens it is normally on RTK’s posts as he seems to come up with original stuff and not the same old nonsense like Arsenal trying to sign Hazard..when there are a limited number of topics to be discussed it gets boring..and admit it without my stupidity with mashman (mug ha ha xx) you would have nothing to get your teeth into..

    Bigsy,

    The Puppet Man of Norwich, what a talent?  Crowds flock to Gentleman’s Walk just to watch this example of World Class entertainment perfection.  His usual pitch out side Primark deserves to be marked by a National Heritage Blue Plaque.  He has refused to appear on The X Factor and Britain’s got Talent because in his own words “It wouldn’t be fair on the other poor fools on the show”.  It has been rumoured that he is to appear on the Royal Variety Performance and the next series of Strictly Come Dancing where he will be partnered by Lily Savage.  Personally I can’t wait.

      I must confess with it being a no game Saturday last weekend I went with the Mrs in the City and after avoiding the numerous tents that have appeared outside Next with tree huggers in them, I had a little stroll over to watch the puppet man, but much to my disappointment he was doing karaoke ..gutted !..I have attached a link so our forum friends can share the wonderful experience..ha ha

    In related news, Alex Song has just hired Darren Dein as his agent as well. How brilliant…

    Oh and they conveniently missed out the bit where Cesc says “I hope he can keep going like that. Could he come to Barcelona? He would fit in anywhere but I’m an Arsenal fan and I want him to stay at Arsenal”

    I cant bring myself to watch him play for Barca,he claims to be a Gunner, which he is not, just a Wenger Fan,stated he couldnt leave Arsenal without Silverware which he never did then jump ship at the next opportunity.I Used to love watching barca play but now i watch them to lose,i find myself  hoping they drop the league to Real Madrid.
