Diaby Set for Arsenal Return

Abou Diaby has been included in Arsenal’s squad for tomorrow night’s Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.

The French midfielder, who’s yet to play a game this season, replaces Tomas Rosicky who misses the match against his old club after picking up a thigh injury.

In this afternoon’s pre-match press conference, Arsene Wenger expressed his delight over the return of the 25-year old midfielder.

“I am very happy – he has not played a minute this season and he had surgery in June”.

Arsenal will progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League, if they beat Dortmund tomorrow night at The Emirates.

Arsene Wenger also confirmed Robin van Persie will start against the high-flying Bundesliga side, who beat Bayern Munich 1-0 at the weekend.

“Tomorrow we have no medical concerns over Robin this time so he will start.”

I'm 20 and have been an Arsenal season ticket holder since 2006. My family has had Arsenal links since the 1920's, and the support is still going strong. I am at every home game, and also manage to get to multiple away games, when I can.

I have been writing for various blogs and websites since I was 15, but have now settled down and have become a regular writer for Arsenalinsider. I also run my own Pro Evolution Soccer blog, Only Pro Evolutions.

Arsenal is my passion. Writing is my passion. I was never good enough to play for The Arsenal, so I'll do the next best thing!

Diaby should be injured again, unless he has grown up to control his temper and stup[id reactions. For sure I never missed him in all matches we played without him. He should be on bench till he learns to stop showing his muscles to opponents in case he is fauled.

The news about Diaby is the best I’ve heard this season. He has been missed so badly. I hope his prolonged stay on the injury list is over.
@leo. You ought to be ashamed to call yourself an Arsenal supporter for your remarks about Diaby. There is nothing wrong with his attitude on the field, which he will demonstrate on Wednesday. Support him, don’t insult him.

Diaby at his best is a top quality midfielder and would get into at least 16 of the epl,s starting x1s. at his worst his fitness and inconsistency would leave him struggling to get in any epl side i really hope he can save us a fortune and prove his fitness so that we have no need to buy another player of his type…..somehow i doubt it.

Diaby is a talented young footballer, however he’s the most inconsistent player we have, that may well be as a result of his injuries but what ever the reason he shouldn’t be risked if there’s any disruption to the harmony we currently have or are building in midfield.

I am sorry to say this but Diaby is terrible at best. I had forgotten he was still at arsenal. Hope he is sold before he gets injured again. His absence was not missed in my opinion.

Diaby could be a top player. Being done by a clogged from Sunderland a few years ago has had a massive impact and he has been very stop start since. Let’s see him eased back in gently, play against City in Carling Cup next week and we could have another top midfielder in our ranks.
