Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has at last re-signed for the Gunners in a loan deal from NY Red Bulls, it has just been announced. The deal was concluded in time for the Frenchman to be eligible to play in Monday’s FA Cup clash with Leeds – although doubts remain about his match fitness.
Apparently the deal was held up over negotiations over his insurance package but the two-month stay has now been agreed. The deal had to be completed by midday today if Arsenal wanted him to be available for the third-round clash.
Arsenal host Leeds at the Emirates on Monday night and Henry is expected to play a role in the game. Henry will provide cover for Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh during the Africa Cup of Nations.
A picture of Henry in the latest Arsenal shirt was accidently posted on the club’s official website last week. The image at first appeared in a story in which current star striker Robin van Persie heaped praise on the new arrival, before it was replaced by a previously released image of Henry in training.
